Second time visiting, still a little disappointing. As typical for Bainbridge restaurants, it just feels like you're paying a lot for what you get.My breakfast waffle (scrambled eggs w/ bacon) was cold. Not room temperature but almost like, ice cold on the bottom, maybe from being left on a cold metal counter too long or something. Scramble itself wasn't bad, nice texture, nice crispy bacon bits... their harissa ketchup was a cool idea but I would've preferred there to be less, it was a little overpowering.Their Liege waffle is definitely the highlight of the menu here - the sugar-studded batter is noticeable, kinda fun, pretty tasty (and was actually hot.) The basic toppings ranged from "ok" to "mediocre" - the "french toast" topping pretty much just tasted like confectioner's sugar, the compotes/lemon curd were fine but not memorable. As for their other confections, the sea salt caramel was a miss - one friend was vehemently put off by the flavor and everyone else in my party who tried it wasn't impressed. The strawberry macaron tasted a little saccharine and artificial; it seems like with such a tight menu and (relatively) simple flavors they should be hitting it out of the park and we just weren't seeing it. I feel a little bad giving it 2* since the people behind the counter seemed nice enough but a cold breakfast waffle is pretty hard to get over. YMMV but after 2 equally unimpressive and costly visits it'd be hard for me to recommend, personally.

The shop is very inviting so I took a chance and ordered a nine piece box plus one. The chocolates are $3 a piece so about average in price. I've paid more and less. However these are a bit smaller. The chocolates weren't great. The flavors of some of them didn't shine through and the texture felt off. The whiskey caramel was the only one I really liked. I get wine and chocolates every where I visit so I feel like I know a good chocolate when I taste one. Obviously I wanted them to be pure joy and I was confident enough committing to a $55 tab which also included a lemon curd cookie, chocolate bark and a dark chocolate peanut butter cup. The cookie was so bad it should be immediately discontinued. It must have come from Cosco. Everything else was fine.

We got the 16 piece chocolate box & a hot cocoa. The hot cocoa was the closest replica to try Parisian hot cocoa we've found here in the states, truly indulgent. Our highlights from the chocolate box were: passion fruit, salted caramel, dulce de lèche & yuzu. The shop itself was absolutely adorable and the chocolatier working was incredibly charming! They also had chocolate creations/art that were fascinating to look at .

Fancy chocolates from expect chocolatiers located on Bainbridge Island in a small business area next to a gallery, restaurant and tree farm.Who knew chocolate could be so fancy! We are all being fooled to think that Hershey is chocolate. The prices are not cheap, but what you get is perfection in a box! You can hand pick your favorites or let the experts pick for you. A definite treat!

This Yelp post was for my 6/8/18 visit to L'Atelier TR - an amazing find on Bainbridge Island. I did not know what to expect, but with a spontaneous day trip and an open mind, good (and tasty) things are bound to happen. It is a gem with limited seating with a captivating pastry case adjacent to an amazing production kitchen. Both Chefs Tamas and Tae clearly have the culinary backgrounds to cultivate such accolades I read earlier from Yelp, including from local resident and avid Yelper, George S. The vibe in their retail shop and café definitely was all about cultivating a welcoming, neighborly atmosphere. I enjoyed my conversation with Chef Tae specifically who took the time to share anecdotes and information about items I inquired about. I ended up ordering a Reuben waffle and a coffee confection a top pate a choux (cream puff). Reubens aren't usually my go to, but this was simply delicious and served promptly by Chef Tamas. The pastry was on point, not cloying, and a perfect end to my lunch. George S. took the time out and surprised me while I was dining at L'Atelier. Yelpers are truly part of a mighty fine tribe!I also bought four exquisitely crafted ginger caramels which Chef Tae kindly packaged up. I have been enjoying this for the past few days. Beautiful shiny presentation and luscious ganache of perfection. Being there made me truly happy and reminded me of how much I enjoyed aspects of pastry school, training in Paris and Aurillac, and working in the industry as an assistant pastry chef another lifetime ago. This is an amazing find and worth seeking out - highly recommended!Worth beyond five Yelp stars. Get on the ferry and make it a highlight of a day trip...remember they are only open Fridays - Sundays 0800-1700.Thanks again Chefs and credit to George S. for writing a compelling Yelp review to convince me to explore beyond Winslow and detour off of 305.**Departing from the Seattle to Bainbridge Island ferry via car** Continue on 305 and go past Winslow, turn left on Madison Ave N, you'll see the BI Fire Station, turn right on NE New Brooklyn Rd, then turn right on Three Tree Ln NE, you'll be on a brief stretch of gravel road with tiny adjacent pine trees, go straight until you see a large art sculpture for a gallery, veer left and park. Business is located at unit #7.

The waffles are awesome! Freshly made when you order, they are light and delicate. I especially enjoy the savory ones. Their pastries and chocolates are beautiful and delicious. They are open Friday through Sunday, so take a relaxing ride on the ferry or a nice scenic drive to Bainbridge Island and treat yourself to something special.

What a fun little shop. This is worth the walk up the stairs from the sidewalk. A charming shop owner sold us on her drinking chocolate made with lactose-free milk (hurray!). Unlike the "hot chocolate" at Starbucks that is neither hot nor tastes of chocolate, this drinking chocolate was thick and rich without being too sweet. A non-edible chocolate fountain made for a cool piece of decor. A big flat screen display was tuned to a YouTube channel showing charming birds in a snowy forest. Overall it was a very nice stop on our walking tour of the little downtown.

We came to take a peek because my mom is a huge fan of chocolates. They had some samples that we were interested in trying, there were 3 of us but oddly, the lady behind the counter only offered my mom samples and when we asked if we could try, she said that was all she had.....it was noon on a Friday. But we were like, ok that's fine. My mom did end up buying a good amount of chocolate to support local but honestly the service fell short and she didn't seem to know much about the products or chocolate at all. I don't know if I'd come back.
