Had to cleanse our pallets After such a sad plate lunch experience at IPO in Poway and this visit didn't disappoint! Looks like my check-in here glitched. Anyways...ordered online using the L&L mobile app, which offers a fee spam musubi with your first order! The app itself does not offer as polished of an experience as other food chains but I still managed to drop an order with minimal difficulty. To me, nothing can replace the actual experience of plate lunch dining in Hawaii. This continues to be the closest restaurant for me to get a good fix. And all the staples of a good plate lunch are represented at L&L. This L&L location faithfully reproduces that consistent food experience.Ordered several favorites for pickup:- BBQ Combo Plate: everything was yummy and a bit oily, which is to be expected. As always, I want more kalbi like I want for more money.- Seafood Combo Plate: breaded jumbo shrimp and crispy fish that were still juicy inside. Yum!- Hamburger Plate: The mostly juicy burger patties smothered with gravy were a delight to devour with rice and mac.- Spam Musubi: can't complain about getting a free one with my first online order. Definitely had to order another to make it a pair. They were both prepared well.All of my prior experiences visiting this shop have been painfully slow because of its popularity and the inability of the kitchen to seemingly keep pace.The online ordering process, while a bit awkward, eliminated that issue entirely this latest visit. So much so that I'll consider returning more often as long as I can place my orders online to save myself wait time frustrations.Drove up a few minutes after dropping my order. My girl gave my name at the counter and picked up the goods so quickly I didn't have much of a chance to chill after parking the truck.Mahalo!

L&L HOT TIP: only order the bulgogi fries and the chicken katsu plate for the best food/best value. The bulgogi fries are surprisingly SOO GOOD and they pack it with meat. They also pack the chicken katsu plate with meat and it's always perfectly crispy.I understand why the reviews are mid in general, because some of the other items on the menu are not as good. So take my advice and order those two things!This location is very clean and you can call in to order, which makes things a lot faster.

I've eaten here a few times and I don't get the low rating. I've eaten my fair share of Hawaiian food and this place hits the spot. The staff members are always friendly, and my food doesn't take long to prepare. Solid plate lunch- my favorite is the Kalua pork with cabbage and it comes with a scoop of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. It's so good! I also like their spam and chicken katsu musubis. I try to stop in whenever I'm in the area.

August Stop 44Came for a quick Spam Musubi snack. We literally got the item 30 seconds after paying. The speed was there, but was the quality? It was an ok musubi. There was too much sauce in my opinion and the seaweed was not crispy enough. Not a deal breaker but not something I would crave.

Great delicious fresh food. Everything was mouthwatering!!! Will be back for more. The fried fish and shrimp were tender and crispy. The pork was baby tender and juicy. The Mac salad was also delicious. I am not a rice lover but it was good. Happy customer.

Not sure why the employees here always act like you're inconveniencing them when you come in to order anything, but it really doesn't make me want to buy anything there. Also, does the Dole Whip machine here ever work? It would be nice to know when the only reason to come to this place is available again, especially on hot days like right now.
