Not my favorite Hawaiian spot. The beef was grizzly and just tasted like soy sauce. They don't have steamed veggies. Mac salad was good. But was literally just mayo and pasta. Just didn't wow me. I prefer other places.

Been here a long time ago so wanted to try it again. What a mistake!First got there and noticed nobody was in the restaurant. Well there were three young employees half sleeping in the dining areaOrdered the seafood plate. The meat was tasty but very fatty. The shrimp were ok but there wasn't any shrimp sauce. The fish was ok but rather tasteless. The tartar sauce didn't help much. Overall not very good. I can now see why they didn't have many customers. Won't be coming back

I lived in Hawaii for years and have been to L&L's all over Oahu and this place is NOT what I remembered. I live in Chandler and we were up in North Phoenix today and it sprung on me that there was an L&L in the area so we drove to extra 20 something minutes so we can go to L&L.This place is a far cry from being representative from any of the L&Ls in Hawaii! The kid behind the counter looked like he was bored out of his mind and didn't want to be there. The menu is similar but not like it is in Hawaii. I got the katsu and barbecue chicken.First of all, the utensils were something like you would see at a kindergarten lunch room. Flimsy and tiny. Hey guys and fast a few extra bucks and some decent plastic wear. When it came out it looked decent but then once I got into it it all went downhill.Neither of the chickens seemed fresh in the least. The katsu was like old cardboard with panko crust on it. Dry as dirt!.The barbecue sauce and teriyaki sauce at the pump at the counter was like watery soy sauce with a little sugar in it. Teriyaki sauce is usually a little thicker and so is barbecue sauce. I ordered the Manapua. On the menu it said steamed or fried. Not only at L&L in Hawaii but even rainbows or any other maunapua place, I have never seen 'fried'. It's baked or steamed. The texture if the dough on them reminded me of when I used to make homemade slime with my kids out of glue and some other stuff. The inside which was supposed to be pork was about the size of a thimble and all dried out. On my way out the door I walked up to the kid that worked there and said that was not very good. This is nothing like the L&L I remember in Hawaii you guys need some work. He looked at me and then acted as if I wasn't even there. I kind of stood in front of him again. I said, did you hear me? He just turned away and ignored me.AND THAT MY FRIENDS IS HOW YOU LOSE A CUSTOMER FOR GOOD!I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND misplace it all. I never thought Ono was quite the caliber of L&L once I left the islands. But now I know it's far above and beyond over what should be its strongest rival. This is the only location in the valley, and there's no wonder why I'm surprised that place has even stayed open.Even while writing this, I'm quite certain that the owners or management don't give a rip about any reviews. But I guess if anything else it will save some of you guys out there a bad experience.

Eww, nothing to write home about. I shouldn't have had such high expectations but we were heading back from Prescott and decided to stop in. I called in an order and they had it ready to go when we got there. The food was still hot, the service was good. We ordered spam musubi and 3 plates, chicken katsu, loco moco, and the seafood mix plate with short ribs. I asked for the mixed plate to do double Mac salad...when my husband opened it up, he only had one order of mac salad and no rice. He was very disappointed but we could do nothing at that point. My loco moco was another disappointment as the hamburger patty was a premade hamburger that was tough to cut into. I prefer to go to a place that makes their own hamburger patties. The flavor was ok though. All in all $50 some bucks for all of that and me just wanting good local food from the islands. Take me back!!

All these reviews talking about they need to learn better english... y'all are unbelievably rude. I had the best service and the most kind employees ever. So what if you struggled to understand their broken english. Learn another language! The food was AMAZING I will be back and I WILL be ordering more. The inside was clean ( I didn't go to the bathroom so can't review it) and tidy. It was a slow day but it was soo worth it to stop by!

My food was burnt and tasted burnt. I could only eat a few bites and couldn't stomach anymore. So I decided to go next door to panda express and get me something to eat there because I was so hungry. I'm Hawaiian and from Hawaii and cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this place as it should represent a taste of Hawaii but does not in any way!

There's lots of options in this area. This place offers a nice change of pace with it's menu. You can eat inside or there are some small tables outside. You order inside at the counter. They'll call you when your food is ready. We should stop here more often. I'm always impressed with how fresh everything tastes. I had the garlic shrimp this time. They give you plenty of shrimp. It was very flavorful. I had to order musubi too. Love musubi!Delicious!

We were so excited to give this place a shot today and we drove from Chandler just to try it. Unfortunately we were disappointed. I'm not sure if maybe we got yesterday's food or if it's just not very good but it wasn't. We split a BBQ chicken and katsu plate and the BBQ chicken was OK but the katsu was dry as cardboard. The teriyaki sauce wasn't teriyaki at all, it was more like soy sauce with sugar and very watery. The macaroni was OK and the rice was good but that's about it. Manapua wasn't good either, again think it may have been from yesterday. The place was clean and we were the only people in there when we got there but soon after there was a long line. I read reviews before we came here and was very surprised when our experience didn't match the reviews at all. My husband tried to share with the young man who was working that they had some work to do because it wasn't very good, but the guy just ignored him. That is unfortunate because constructive feedback matters.

Very good to excellent Hawaiian-Style fast food! I don't think I have yet to find such good Hawaiian fast-food in the Valley, except for Hula's! I think that says a lot! for more than half a century starting with a small shop in Kalihi HI to a bunch of locations on the mainland, they offer an assortment of goodies including but not limited to Shrimp, Combos, Kalua Pork & Cabbage, BBQ Chicken, BBQ Beef, SPAM Saimin and my all-time fave Loco Moco. My wife ordered the Katsu Chicken, and both of us were flabbergasted at how exceptional it as. Perfectly crispy, excellent breading seasoning, incredibly tender chicken - just an all-inclusive greatness! It's tender pieces of deep-fried perfectly breaded and seasoned boneless succulent chicken, with a side of great piquant katsu sauce. My fave dish Loco Moco was savory and delightfully and lightly seasoned hamburger patties over steamed white rice, topped with superbly prepped brown gravy, along with two fresh eggs (any which way - I prefer over-easy), along with a very well-prepared Mac & Cheese. Wow! I hope they open more establishments in the Valley - especially closer to my home.
