L&L Hawaiian Barbecue

This place is an amazing gem serving up authentic Hawaiian BBQ that's sure to tantalize your senses.I opted for the Chicken Katsu Sandwich, and it was great . The chicken katsu was crispy on the outside and juicy and flavorful on the inside. The fries were very plentiful and were not too salty or dry. The portion size was goodThe service was very kind and when I asked for an extra tartare sauce in replacement of katsu sauce they kindly accepted. They gave water cups for free which was also a very good plus. The store in general was a little small but it was very clean and tidy. The price was also very reasonable. Parking is a bit difficult to get as it is inside a little shopping area. Overall, I would recommend going to L and L barbecue.

Ordered through DoorDash, got the BBQ mix with beef and chicken, two sides of mac, and rice. Was really tasty and worth it for the price. It ended up being about two meals for me. Didn't interact with staff/ restaurant to comment.

18$ for Garlic Shrimp Salad (lunch) -- I will definitely come back for this meal!I was working at the hospital across the street and walked here looking for a quick lunch that was decently priced. I was pleasantly surprised to find huge juicy garlic shrimp (well cooked and not dry, AND deveined), along with a fresh salad that had some fresh pineapple and grilled onions in there. Yum!I could tell this was a family owned location with the two main workers as husband and wife. They were super sweet. There are a bunch of tables that you can sit inside or outside. I chose to sit outside and questioned why I don't live in San Diego? Haha. All in all, if you're looking for a healthy choice --get the garlic shrimp salad and sub with salad :)

Street parking was very limited, max of 6-7 cars however there are paid parking next door. I ordered the regular chicken katsu with a drink and it came up to roughly $20, which was a lot pricier compared to other locations. The dipping sauce was watery, not a thick consistency as usual. Portion is ok but not for the price of a regular chicken katsu $16.99. The service wasn't too bad, took some time to get our food as it wasn't busy at all. The ambiance is quiet and it was so warm inside with no air conditioning that my party had to sit outside.

When does L&L disappoint? This was bomb and the staff is so nice. Got the mini bbq chicken which was plenty of food and it was delish!! Great little center for eating and chatting!

Food 5/5Chicken katsu is my go-to comfort food order at L&L. I like to switch between 2 scoops rice + 1 scoop Mac vs 1 scoop rice + 2 scoops Mac. The food was hot and the katsu was crispy!Service 5/5The kind elderly Asian man who I think is the manager made sure I had utensils and sauces for my food. Ambiance 5/5The seating area was not super crowded when I went in and there was plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. I recommend going here if you need something easy and fast. You can call in your order ahead of time. Price 4/5Compared to the prices of all surrounding restaurants, this is worth the money. I enjoyed my katsu plate which I split into two meals since it was such a large portion! Giving this 4 stars instead of 5 since the price is a bit higher here compared to other L&Ls I've been to before.

Probably the worst LnL plate ive ever had. I have ordered from the Eastlake and National City (before they rebranded) locations for years. Kalua pork and bbq have always been so good. I stuck with the same order at this location and it was SO BAD. The beef was dry and it didnt seem to have the same marinade as the other locations. Beef slices were so chunky that it was a hassle to chew. The Kalua pork was DRY. Mac salad was SO FLAVORLESSThe only good thing was the portion size, but i could only bare to eat 1/5 of the food because 1) I was hungry 2)poorly made.

I never leave reviews But this time I had to say this is the worst L&L I Have Ever eaten at! Wow The beef plate had no flavor. I felt like I was eating bad Chinese food. Please L&L Co. make them do better. You will lose loyal customers over this location. Not talking trash just facts.

Went today and got spam musubi with a side of macaroni! Was so delicious and the cashier who was an old man his service was lovely! Will be back soon
