Out go-to spot for sushi in Allston. They've got a great lunch special, amazing hand rolls, and great speedy service! The restaurant is always clean, and you can see the fish they use in the glass. Great for both takeout and dine in.

For lunch to go, I ordered Fried Gyoza $7.95Chirashi $23.95They were pretty good, Each cuts of fish on Chirashai were little bit larger in size than average nigiri (Except shrimp and egg). Maybe a little thin side, though.Expensive lunch but quality of fish was not bad, not fantastic neither. Not sure if I will return, maybe ?? Service of lady at counter is nice.

Formerly New Sushi, Kyoaji sits at the corner of Brighton Ave and Chester Street with red awnings. I ordered takeout poke bowls on a weekday for dinner and service was fairly quick. The pickup was quick and the layout of the restaurant is the same with a few small tables if you're dining in. They have QR codes to order from their menu at each table. I created my own poke bowl and got tuna, shrimp tempura with avocado, seaweed salad, corn, edamame with yazu sauce and sesame seeds. They don't have a surcharge for avocado and the bowls are reasonably priced for the amount of food given. At first glance, it doesn't seem like much protein and just a lot of sides, but it's definitely a filling poke bowl. The shrimp tempura was still crispy and there was a lot of sauce in my bowl. If you order from their website there's 3 different offers 10% off your first purchase, $3 off $20 or more, or 15% of $65 or more. They're still using old New Sushi bowls, but they have their Kyoaji stickers on the top of the containers. They also have ramen, sushi (sushiritos), and appetizers on their menu. Overall, a good place to grab a bite to eat in Allston.

Worst miso soup and salmon roll of my life. I need to preface this by saying I've never experienced truly bad sushi, which is why I gave this place 3 stars rather than 1. It didn't make me sick, it wasn't repulsive, but it just was not good. I had never tried the place before so I decided to play it plain and safe -- miso soup and salmon roll. Super basic. I don't know how one messed up miso soup but it was just so watery and barely tasted of anything! And the salmon roll was just also so bland. In a location such as Allston where there's so many options for Asian cuisines, I'd skip on this place.
