I would say 4.5 stars. We tried several drinks. The passionfruit soda is sweeter and yummy. The blue something lemonade is bland and tart and not sweet. I wouldn't get it again. We like the takoyaki so much we ordered to. The Ramen was great, the seaweed french fry was amazing. I do think it's super strange that the logo is a fabulous sticker which they put on the plastic cups, but they charge us a dollar if we want to take a sticker home , if I known, I would've asked that they didn't put it on, but I refuse to pay for a stupid sticker. They put on cups that get thrown away.Need to ask for a bathroom key, bathroom has cool tile. No pics cause I didn't bring my phone into the bathroom with me.

A near perfect late night hangout place. The ramen was great. The appetizers were nice. The menu is quite vast for a late night joint. and the quality is there. It is friendly and inviting. Nestled away in canal street this is a great place to catch with friends especially if you are a night owl. The vegetarian options are great too. Looking forward to seeing them grow and become a Chicago staple.

Kuro Ramen featured a wide range selection of Japanese dishes that left us craving for more! Food: 5/5We savored the following delectable dishes:Gyu Don (Beef Bowl): The Gyu Don was a true masterpiece of flavor and texture. Tender slices of succulent beef, simmered to perfection in a savory-sweet sauce, were served atop a bed of steaming white rice. The rich umami of the beef combined with the subtle sweetness of the sauce created a symphony of flavours.Chicken Karaage: The Chicken Karaage was crispy and succulent. Each piece of chicken was expertly marinated in a blend of Japanese seasonings, then coated in a light, crispy batter and deep-fried to golden perfection. The result was juicy and flavorful chicken with a satisfying crunch, making it an irresistible treat for both the palate and the senses.Service: 5/5The service at Kuro Ramen was attentive and friendly, ensuring that our dining experience was enjoyable.Ambiance: 5/5The ambiance of Kuro Ramen was elevated by the warm Leon lights display on the wall, casting a soft and inviting illumination throughout the restaurant. Combined with modern decor and soft lighting, the Leon lights created a cozy and intimate atmosphere, perfect for savoring our meal and immersing ourselves in the flavors of Japan.Price: 5/5The prices for the dishes at Kuro Ramen were reasonable, offering good value for the quality and portion sizes provided. We look forward to returning to Kuro Ramen for more delicious meals in the future!

Always one of my favorite places for a late night meal.. The staff is wonderful and has been the same since they opened. Always quick service, food is consistently delicious. Cute decor from entry to all areas of the restaurant. The free parking is huge for Chinatown. Great place to start or end a long day in Chinatown!

Tried this restaurant for the time over the weekend. Kids were at Lollapalooza so I got to eat whatever I wanted! I ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. Noodles were perfect (actually wondering where they source these as that taste like Maebo Noodles in Hilo, HI) and broth was rich and delicious. Loved the quality and quantity of toppings (I had the egg, bamboo shoots and something else I can't remember right now). I Doordashed this order so I don't know how a sit-down experience would be. Would recommend for the food though!

Kuro Ramen is located in a small plaza (with free parking) slightly tucked away from all the main attractions and restaurants in Chinatown. There isn't much pedestrian traffic in that area, so it can be hard for people to notice the restaurants there. Early on in the year, there was another ramen restaurant that couldn't stay open for more than 6 months due to the fact, so every now and then, I try my best to visit the restaurants at that plaza. That is how I discovered Kuro Ramen. The restaurant is fairly new, and they did an excellent job with the decor. It is family owned and operated. The menu is interesting, there are some dishes you won't find at your typical ramen place so it's always nice to try new items. My friend and I ordered the following - - Appetizer: Honey Mustard Diced Pepper Steak. The sauce was creamy, peppery and delicious but the steak was extremely chewy. (3/5) - Mains: Beef Tomato Udon and Curry Udon - the noodles in both dishes were cooked well, but the broths (for both) were very bland, and the meat quality wasn't really the best or the most appetizing. It was really fatty. (3/5) - Drinks: Hojicha Latte - delicious! Highly recommend you try this! (5/5)

I liked that this cute ramen place had a clean aesthetic, free indoor parking attached to the backside of the restaurant.I ordered the spicy miso ramen and I felt like while it was good, it didn't stand out amongst other ramen places that I have eaten at in Chicago. The food I would say is a 3.5/5.The aesthetic and ambiance is a 4.5/5, very clean interior, cute mascot, efficient waitstaff. One thing I didn't like as much as that I felt a little bit rushed at the end of my meal. The restaurant was almost empty and the waitress came back repeatedly to ask if I was done and if I was ready to check out.

So happy to have another ramen shop by Chinatown. We came for lunch during a weekday when it wasn't busy at all. Service was quick- we order from a phone and they bring it o us. The food was yummy. We enjoyed our ramen. CasualPlace. They look to have a lot of carry outs via Uber eats or door dash.

This is such a cute spot!I've been here twice and look forward to going again.I ordered one of the vegetarian ramens and man, the flavor is just so good. Often people just add a strong mushroom flavor to a base but this is something else. I switched from ramen noodles to udon because I just love a thicker noodle. The service here is fine, not sure about the complaints, even though I was semi choking and had to ask for more water.I haven't tried anything else, but I'll def be back for more ramen.

After many tries with the place, I can't give them a 5 stars. If there's a 0.5 stars, I would probably rate them 3.5 instead of four.We ordered takeout from here a couple of times, and the kids and I actually went here to eat once.Service when we were there was actually pretty slow. They only had one server, and they had a couple of tables when we were there. The food came slightly late, in my opinion. The appetizer should've come before the entree, but it came after the entree was served. So it was kinda disappointing. For take out. The latest takeout was yesterday. That was what prompted me to write this review. I love chilled tofu and was craving for it. So I ordered from this place. When I received the food, it was leaking so bad. Luckily, they wrapped it in a small bag so it didn't leak to the plastic bag. The container that they chose its not for stuff that has a liquid in it. I ate it but couldn't finish it because the liquid is what it is supposed to make it taste good.Price point. I can't say that this place is cheap but I don't mind. Everything is expensive these days, anyway. The place is okay. It's clean. They have free parking in the building, so that's a plus. They're also open late until 11.30 PM if I'm not mistaken. Overall, not the place to go, but maybe we'll order from here since they're open late.
