Kurimu

kurimu is one of my favorite ice cream places, i love their diversity in their flavors! the staff is always super welcoming and kind even when the place is packed. Def try their soft serve and horchata ice cream! They had a booth at lolla and it was the perfect treat :)

Pretty nice little spot here for unique ice cream, toppings, and flavors. As you can see I enjoyed a little ice cream cone after a long day. They have a good seating area on the second floor away from the ordering lower level which I liked.The staff is very helpful and greets you with a great smile.

Staff friendly. Flavor choices too plentiful. The staff said I could try 6 and it really was hard. Finally went with the mocha chip in orange creamsicle cone which was just as tasty. Plenty of searing up top. Very clean. Lots of fun collabs. We missed Snoopy last year. I think this is the second Kurimu location we have visited. Like it. Glad they are popping up more as it makes it easier to visit.

It was ok. I suppose. In that it wasn't gross or particularly offensive. I'm just not sure what makes them special. Maybe I needed to get the durian or ube or another unusual flavor, but I got their special caramel sundae and was just... underwhelmed. It is definitely not worth almost $10 per person. I can be glad that I've satisfied my curiosity about the place but I don't expect to return.

I've had a couple good fruity soft serves but man the prices here are just ridiculous. They had a Beatrix collab recently and I haven't been in a white so I went to try it. Was supposed to be white chocolate and caramel soft serve swirled with caramel and chocolate chip cookies on top. Couldn't taste either flavor in the soft serve and the cookie pieces were stale. And it cost (after I rounded up to the next dollar for tip) TWELVE DOLLARS for a cup of mediocre soft serve. I was si disappointed. Won't be back with these prices when I can get Jeni's for $6.

So so good! Best ice cream place in Chicago. Always great and quick service and such amazing flavors. Solid ice cream texture and yummy flavors.

After dinner, I happened to walk by this dessert spot and decided WHY NOT? Though I do want to point out, on a windy day it's a BATTLE to get through the heavy doors-- I almost gave up. Mango Sticky Rice - THIS is such a UNIQUE idea, they have mochi in every bite to resemble sticky rice -- I LOVE itBlack Sesame - This was AIGHT, not too impressed Anyways, I definitely recommend y'all stop by and try out their fun ice cream flavors.

Overall Thoughts: One of the few / only Asian-themed ice cream shops outside Chinatown. It's quite pricey (~$8 for 2 scoops), but they have a nice selection of flavors, most of which are very solid. The space is nice and a chill place to hang out with friends (no bathroom though). Overall, I'd come back for a fix of durian ice cream or to try their other soft serve options.I've tried their Durian, Mango Sticky Rice, Red Bean, Oreo, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Banana flavors. After having lunch in the neighborhood, my friend and I stopped by to grab dessert. I got the durian and black sesame flavor. My friend got the thai tea and black sesame flavor. The flavors were really spot on. The inside was very modern and spacious. The staff was very friendly as well. I'd definitely go back!
