An interesting concept..... rotating sushi. I took a seat at the counter in front of a rotating belt of sushi. There is always something new passing by.A woman seated me and asked if I had been before. I had not so she explained how it worked. Each plate is 3.90 and contains two pieces of sushi. There is a plate slot where the empties are inserted. A computer keeps score of how many plates have been inserted. I did have to ask for water. I think it is a marketing ploy, hoping I will buy a drink if I were thirsty.I had a Philadelphia roll, spider roll. tuna and salmon. The serving size of the sushi seemed small but overall, it filled me up. It seemed like a fair size serving for the price.A woman next to me ordered a tea and a robot brought it out to her. Pretty kewl. The robot even spoke English.A man came around with wasabi. There was already pickled ginger and soy sauce on the table.I would come again for the experience.

Kira Kira wa watashi STAR! More like KURA KURA! I've been dying to go to this revolving sushi restaurant for a long time. I don't remember when the watertown location opened but the dorchester opened like last year. This spot made me feel like I was in chuck e cheese with the funny gaming noises coming from the robot which brings you your drinks. Like the name says this is a revolving sushi place so you see all the types of sushi move your way on a conveyor belt. There is an upper area where sushi and food you order on your screen comes directly to you.Honestly the experience itself is really fun and I was very engaged the whole time. This place is definitely nostalgic and fun. The sushi quality itself is just good, nothing special. If you don't want to get sushi they also have ramen and appetizers in case someone in your party doesn't eat sushi. My favorite sushi rolls were eel and wagyu. There was a soy wrap with eel which was extra delicious. The takiyaki ice cream was also freaking amazing ... not sure what batter they used for the fish but it was so flavorful and warm and just right. They do not have reservations BUT here's a hack if you download the app you can add yourself to the waitlisting before you arrive. On a saturday evening it was about a 35-50 minute wait so it's worth doing. Weekdays apart from Friday you probably don't even need to bother with that as they are not busy.Food 7Atmosphere 8Service 6What we gotEel hand roll- soy paperSea urchinAnago (saltwater eel)Kumamoto wagyu sushiMiso soupTakiyaki ice creamwarabimochi

Surprisingly, this was my first time visiting Kura for dinner and there are Kuras everywhere! Anyways, I came in for a solo dinner on a Friday evening and there was a wait outside. They have a tablet outside where you can put your name and number in on the waiting list. Since I was by myself, I was given a table a little earlier than anticipated. The restaurant is quite small so big groups might find it difficult to fit inside, but there are plenty of 4-seating booths, 2-seating booths and areas at the counter. Ordering food can be done fairly simply on the tablet by the table or above your head. I ended up ordering more from the tablet than the revolving sushi bar because so many plates were empty. That's why I ended up taking one star off because overall it was a good experience. Be careful though! These add up! $3.99 for anything taken off the revolving sushi bar. The sashimi I ordered cost more than that. My favorite was the fried squid and the peppers. My goodness! That was tasty!

Pretty solid sushi conveyer belt experience. I think we were sat at a less than ideal spot so a lot of times there would be no sushi on the belt by the time it got to us. However, we were able to order directly off the menu and our item would zoom to us. It's around 3.80 a plate, all the sushi is pretty decent. My favorite was the blue fin tuna but it was extra pricy, giving only 1 piece for 3.80.There isn't much human service, pretty much everything is done through a digital menu and a robot server which is super fun to see!

Really neat sushi concept utilizing the conveyer-like style approach as the main wow-factor experience. It's honestly a lot of fun and the price is fair depending on the sushi you get.We came as a party of 2 on a Friday evening and had to wait about an hour. We took a quick stroll through some of the shops to kill time and they send a text message letting you know you're next soon. When we were seated you basically start picking out what you want and start eating - which is a neat experience from the usual "what would you like to order" then waiting for the food to actually arrive. Each small dish on the belt is $3.50, some dishes come in 4 pieces, some come just 1 piece, ranging from typical makimonos you could find in your supermarket to special seasonal dishes that are available for a limited time. They also gamify the experience so that you get a small prize (a gatcha toy for those who know) if you hit 15 dishes. It's smart because we definitely tried to play the game and we were pretty full 15 dishes in between two of us.The quality of fish itself was surprisingly good. I thought it'd be like buffet-quality fish, but the tuna was exceptionally fresh, the texture and color was on point, the salmon had wonderful marbling, and wasabi was not the cheapo kind of thing you get from squeezing a paste tube.tldr; neato sushi experience that tastes as good as it looks

If you're looking for a new style of dining, def check out Kura. They have a conveyor belt system that allows you to pick your own food as it comes by. The concept was really cool but unfortunately the conveyor belt had a ton of empty plates even though the restaurant wasn't super full. The food was good although their vegetarian sushi options are few.

Kura offers a great variety of cooked and raw sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri and special selections. I went during lunch and had no wait, atmosphere is very casual and wonderfully located in a downtown plaza. The staff sits you down and explains how to use to conveyor belt screen for other orders and then you're on your way! It was a fun and unique experience and i loved seeing the options roll by. If you can't get your hands on something on the rotation bar, you can place a separate order on the tablet alongside other side dishes, such as calamari, udons, soups, drinks and of course the sushi. It is a little pricy at $3.90 a plate and it does add up quickly. Some of their sushi you could tell was not very fresh so be a bit careful. At 15 plates, you get a prize from their gatcha machine.

We downloaded the app on our drive over to Kura and joined the waitlist online. We were seated minutes after we got there and the waiter was very helpful in explaining how it works since it was our first time. The salmon nigiri and eel nigiri were our table's favorite. Everything was fresh and really delicious. They had minimal vegan/vegetarian options for me but was enough. Service was quick and prices were fair. We were 3 adults and our total was $78. Not too shabby. My only suggestion/complaint is to have more vegetarian friendly options. I know sushi is mainly fish- which is fine. But there are so many amazing rolls that can be made with tofu and veggies. Tofu, avocado, cucumber, carrot, asparagus are common items used in sushi rolls so why not add a few more options for the non fish eaters of the family lol!

Don't tell your potential customers that the wait is 5-10 minutes if 25 minutes later, after everybody else who checked in after them has been seated, they're still waiting outside. (Didn't get to try the food because we left before we got seated, but perhaps we don't want to anyway.)
