I had heard from friends that Kupel's is one of the very few kosher restaurants in Boston, so I was looking forward to trying their offerings. The bakery was bustling around lunch time on a Sunday. The menu is quite fun -- each sandwich is an MBTA stop name colored as its respective MBTA line. But, as I experienced, perhaps the fun naming scheme leads to mixups in making the orders. I ordered the Hynes, which is supposed to have egg salad, lox, tomato, and onion. I ended up having tuna salad in my bagel sandwich instead. The tuna salad was pretty unremarkable. I liked the lox (wish there was more of it), and the bagel was fine. When we went back to ask for the egg salad, they kindly gave us a small tub of egg salad as a replacement. However, I didn't enjoy the egg salad either -- it was not creamy and the egg white pieces were very tiny. I also got the elephant ear pastry, which had some weird discolored speckles on it. One bite that I had tasted like mold, so I ended up tossing it. I wouldn't try their pastries again -- it doesn't seem like they're guaranteed to be fresh.Overall, Kupel's is a very affordable option with a wide array of bagel sandwich combination options. Perhaps too many options...my friend's order got mixed up as well -- it didn't have any of the ingredients it was supposed to have -- and I've heard of more mixups in the past. I think Kupel's is a very important establishment that caters to many dietary restrictions at a reasonable price, and the employees are very nice about making up for wrong orders, but based on my experiences, I probably would not come back. I definitely do not recommend trying the pastries...

My first time trying this bagel spot was on a Sunday morning and although it was super busy, the line was sooo long, etc.. it was worth it! I had the Porter square and another one with salmon (I can't remember the name). Def recommend going there, maybe earlier in the day to avoid the line (or online order).

Solid option for bagels, friendly service.Stopped here while in Brookline to get breakfast. There are sandwich options available or you can build your own bagel. I opted for a toasted everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. While the flavor of the bagel was great and it was overflowing with schmeer, it really wasn't toasted enough for my liking, which made the bagel was a bit chewy for my liking.

This is a great local spot for anyone looking for some bagel sandwiches on the go!Food: We got the Cleveland Corner bagel sandwich on an egg bagel (smoked salmon, tomato, chive cream cheese, red onion). The filling was so fresh and delicious. However, the bagel itself wasn't the best. It was a little on the tougher side but overall still delicious 8/10.Ambiance: Such a great local spot and everyone was so kind and helpful. They only do takeout though so take it to-go! 8/10.Price: $12ish for the sandwich and it was a great amount of food, definitely worth the price in Boston 8/10.They have an enormous variety of sandwiches so I can't wait to go back and try more!

Kupel's was a solid option for a bagel in Brookline, but I personally wasn't blown away or anything.

I came here on a Saturday morning after playing tennis at the Devotion school courts, and just beat the rush. After ordering, a bunch of people followed behind us so we got lucky! The menu is pretty extensive, and I had tried the lox in the past with very positive results. Today, I felt like going a bit more simple and ordered the Back Bay on a plain bagel. It came with a fried egg, cheese, tomatoes, and red onion. This breakfast sandwich was extremely simple but also extremely fresh and delicious. The bagel itself was nicely toasted and just the right amount of soft, chewy, fluffy, and crunchy on the outside. It definitely surpassed any other bagel I have had recently. On top of that, the cheese added a nice saltiness, the egg was pretty standard, and the amount of onion and tomato was really perfectly balanced. The ratio of all of the ingredients and the fresh bagel turned this from a very simple order into a tasty and unexpected treat. On top of that, the $5.99 price felt very reasonable for a breakfast sandwich of this quality. While their more complicated orders are a bit more pricy, I'll definitely be back for the Back Bay again!

Service was extremely slow. Went on a Saturday and they had at least six people working the register and food prep, plus more in the bakery in back. There was no line at lunchtime but half a dozen people waiting. I asked for two sandwiches and it took almost ten minutes. The bagels are delicious but the cinnamon rolls were dry, and they put the tiniest scraping of tuna in my sandwich, and egg salad in my mom's sandwich.

These bagels are pretty stuffed. I had the Coolidge Corner on an everything bagel. This has chive cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, and onions. It was almost difficult to eat because the stuffing kept sliding out. Taste wise, it hit the spot.Pricing: a little expensive, but reasonable considering how filling these are. Bagels also come with a free bottle of water. Not much seating inside and the place was PACKED when I went. We waited about 10 minutes for our food.
