The food and people here absolutely make this an awesome pre or post-beach spot. The manager was so kind when we visited. This is a very casual spot in the middle of a parking lot with a jack in the box and a few other fast food joints. The menu is extensive, and everything we tried here was solid. The carne asada chips were generously covered in meat and guac, as well as cheese and beans. I would've loved for it to be better mixed, as some of the chips at the bottom were quite bare. For the price, you get awesome quality and generous portions. This is a solid quick spot for quality Mexican food.

Normally when I go to Costco, I hit the food court. lol - but I'm happy I decided to try Kotija!The Vibe: It's in a strip center and not much to the interior, but comfortable for my lunch.Service: super friendly - from both the front and back of the house.Food: I had fish tacos which were delicious and full. The tortillas were good, but not the best I've had. The salsa - both green and red - were flavorful and both had a good kick. So if you're shopping at Costco - take a break from the food court - and try Kotija!

The best Mexican food in Del Mar. Food is always ready fast. The chipotle shrimp burrito is delicious, just spicy enough. Also the machaca burrito hits the spot. It's filled with beef, eggs and peppers.

This hole in wall little taco joint has huge, delicious tacos. Yes, you will end up with crema all over your face and it is worth it. We had fish tacos and carne tacos and they were huge. All five salsas were delicious especially if you like it fiery. The ambience is nothing to write home about. They do have hand sanitizer on every table and a gas station style bathroom. I saw lots of locals here on a monday night. Obviously lots of people love this place and i can see why. The prices are very reasonable, $9.60 for the #16 special, 2 fish tacos and a medium drink.

I go here every time I'm in San Diego... fabulous California burrito they do it exactly as it should be done and its always consistently the same amazing flavor!

The breakfast burritos are large and the portion for the machaca is plentiful. We've had our fair share of these food options that we tend to be more critical and get all annoyingly judgy about it. :-D But I must be truthful about my perspective so I have to say that the overall taste of my machaca was probably at the bottom end of the ones I've had at different places. The flavor was just not there for me. I feel like they barely seasoned it at all. :-( Their breakfast burritos were "just ok". As far as the location itself, there is parking (although tight in some places). There is a small dining area inside and additional outside tables. It's an overall nice place and affordable as well. And the service was neutral--which is not a bad thing.

The short :Pretty good birria tacos, average fish taco, very good salsas. The long: the birria tacos are so full of beef, that just 2 will leave you feeling stuffed. Especially if you put a lot of spicy salsa on top and have a drink. They have stewed beans poured over the top, which I am not a big fan of. Not refried beans, these are whole stewed red beans. Personally, there was just too much meat- I think in the future I would order the smaller tacos, and ask for extra onion and cilantro on the side. The bomb here is the salsa bar. The mild green and spicy red salsa make everything taste better. The green is delicious but mild. The red is has a good manageable heat that keeps the flavors exciting. They aren't so ground up that you can't tell what's in them. I love that you can see the ingredients. I don't like watery, squueze-bottled salsa. The fish taco was cooked perfectly, crispy crunchy and light. It was served with raw shredded cabbage on top, which has no flavor. I know this is classic Baja, but I just don't like it. I preferred to put pickled cabbage on my fish tacos. Thankfully, the salsa was good enough to bring much needed flavor to these. The price point was excellent. $20 for four huge tacos is pretty cheap considering the commercial rent in this area. I have paid much more for much less in this same mini- mall. I'm still looking for amazing places to eat in Delmar that don't break my bank. Overall more like a 3 1/2 star, but given the location in Delmar, and the fact that there's very little else around, I am bumping it up to four.

#1 in finding creative ways to f up a veggie burrito! Holy guacamole!!! I'm writing this to remind myself never to order a veggie burrito here ever again. It was bite after bite of grilled onions and peppers to a point where I opened up the burrito and removed a full cup of grilled onions and peppers that were still in there. The only other ingredients were a small serving of rice and a very small serving of pinto beans. No lettuce, no guac, no sour cream, no cheese - which would be standard in the San Diego area unless specified that it had zucchini and veggies or something like that. Ugh, never again will I give them $10+ for a grilled onion burrito.The salsa verde was mild and tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Easy in/out of the fwy.

Friendly and good food. I was going to get a breakfast sandwich by drive through near by but like to try local places and decided to check this out. Saw a taco egg bowl and asked for that with multiple meats. That's exactly what I got. So good! The flavor of meats and the beans in the base of taco shell bowl were great. Friendly and fast service. Always try to eat local!

I was in the area looking for some good Mexican food and came across this spot and saw there rating and figured I would give it a shot . This place was very clean and you could tell they take pride in the cleanliness of the restaurant, they do have tons of options and I will have to say there portion size and the amount of meat they give is amazing they just pile it on. We ended up ordering a California burrito which was awesome it will definitely fill you up. We also tried the grilled chicken burrito meal , and the 2 taco meal which were just packed with fillings and meat . I can't wait to stop here again and try something new.
