Kona Kakes

We chose Kona Kakes Mango Mousse for our wedding cake as I do not like traditional cake. They had amazing reviews on Reddit and we had high expectations. The cake was incredible! Everyone loved it and we were surprised and excited to have leftovers. Ordering was fast and easy and very affordable!

I heard about them from a big birthday bash where they had a huge Caramel macadamia nut cake. It was very good so I wanted to check them out myself. Back in the day, they also served Hawaiian food but that is no longer the case. My friend and I came here hoping to get the best of both sweet and savory but had to get our brunch on elsewhere. Afterwards we both came back to enjoy the lovely treats here though. I got a small cake from the display while my friend inquired about any cakes that were readily available aside from the smaller ones. She was in luck! The cakes are moist and flavorful without being overly sweet. There is a good reason that they are fully sustained on getting custom orders of their cakes alone!

Some of the other flavors such as Chocolate Caramel Macadamia Nut were sold out for the day.We ended up splitting a Caramel Macadamia Nut. The ingredients included Butter cake, Kona Kakes Signature Caramel, and Hazelnut Cream. It was delicious! You could taste that it was freshly made and had such unique flavors! The combinations of the macadamia nuts and caramel was so good! The cake was light and fluffy. The cream wasn't too sweet! The mini-cakes and desserts are $7.99 each. The team member whom helped us at the register was awesome! She went through all of Kona Kakes offerings with us and even recommended which mini-cakes to try! Next time, we'll have to try out the Ube mini-cake!

Amazingly delicious kakes here!My hun & I tried their cakes at our friends' wedding & instantly fell in love! Their wedding cake was gorgeous & they had several flavors from Kona Kakes.I learned that they sell mini cakes of their most popular flavors at their store & I went immediately. I called first to see what flavors they have & unfortunately, you cannot reserve them, it is a first come first serve basis so make sure to come early! However, this cake definitely "takes the cake"! I highly recommend you try this one, it is so flavorful & I love the tiny, sweet crunches all throughout. It is not too sweet too (which I know is a definite plus with Asians haha). I am already planning my next trip down to Point Loma to get it again & my hun & I are definitely thinking about ordering it as our wedding cake too! Try it now!

We had them custom make us an anniversary cake. Excellent service! Cake was ready for pickup on time. This was by far the best tasting cake I've had in a long time.Highly recommended!

Best cake I had in the US. for my birthday we looked far and wide in SD and Orange county to find an exotic fruit cake, passion fruit especially (my favorite). And with Kona Kake we really found the place where I will get cakes from now on. Very light sponge, flavorful mousses, really light and not overly sweet cream frosting. Custom white chocolate shaving cause this is how I roll...We tried their individual cake as tasters before ordering. The ube cake was original and awesome. The guava strawberry was tasty as well.What I really love is how light and easy to eat the cakes are, not the usual heavy super sweet with fondant and frosting found in the average bakery. Top notch

Hands down the absolute best cakes you will ever have the pleasure of tasting! I especially live that they use whipped cream frosting on a majority of their cakes. Our go-to is their caramel macadamia nut crunch cake! OMG!!! Pure heaven! Every time we have this cake it's a huge hit and everyone wants to know where we got it. A bonus with this bakery is that they can take special orders on fairly short notice (1 week) and their cakes are consistently tasty and perfect!Warm, welcoming family business that I am happy to support every chance I get!
