Really great happy hour deal for cocktails here and boy are the cocktails amazing! We would come back just for drinks. Ambiance is lovely and high-end with great service to match. Although it was not very busy when we got there so that might be why.The complimentary sake at the door is a nice touch. We thought the food was all very very tasty but it was a bit small for the prices. The cod was fantastic. We ended up going somewhere else after to have a more filling meal. They do offer reservations though doesn't seem like you need them for weekdays. One thing to note is it's a $20 fee per person if don't show up so keep that in mind.

Interior was nice. Service was just ok, I was a bit underwhelmed, but our main waiter was helpful and friendly. Extremely poor timing out of our dishes. A few times we'd literally be in the middle of a bite of food or a one-and-done like grilled oyster and someone would come by to drop off new items AND expect us to move around all our plates and dishes ourselves to make room. That was frustrating, especially at an upscale establishment like this. I also found it odd how many staff members were just literally hanging around the bar area on their phones--a bit odd and unprofessional. One person in particular was literally on his phone every time we looked over throughout our entire dinner. The blue fin tuna flight and 7-piece nigiri were both quite good. Especially the otoro (fatty) tuna. The chawanmushi is ok, I'd skip it. It was a warm custard with like a single prawn/shrimp in it. Grilled oysters were tasty and I recommend trying. Karaage baos very flavorful, though exactly what you'd expect if you're a fan of fried chicken. The spicy tuna tartare was just ok. It was a very small portion and served with little shrimp rolls that I found a little strange to eat with--do you spread the tartare on them or eat both separately?--I don't know, but tartare was a little bland anyway. Spicy tuna crunch dish was crunchy, chewy, and decently flavorful. Overall I'd recommend focusing on the nigiri type items here for the most part, those were our favorites.

my bf brought me here to celebrate me getting a new job and so i was pretty psyched to try this out! it was a surprise and i hadn't really heard much about this spot yet. nice little entrance with the complimentary sake, and generally cute space. however, we started suffering from an all around poor service experience from the get go. we got sat in a booth nearest to the stairs that lead down to the bathrooms and there was just this incredibly overwhelming smell of incense that was making me kind of nauseous. however they did adjust the seating fairly quickly once we asked (it was also quite early and there was barely anyone in the restaurant). there wasn't anything rude about the service, it was just not the quality i was expecting given the restaurant style and prices. just overall lacking. the food was meant to come out coursed, but we received items in weird unexpected order. but, maybe the biggest problem was the food. it was just okay. nothing i had was particularly that interesting nor tasty. i would absolutely not splurge on the tasting menu given the flavours of the a la carte items we had.had some special grilled oysters to start with, which were okay, but felt like it was just a puddle of soupy broth in the oyster. blue fin tuna flight and the 7-piece nigiri were fine. one was very good, the others were typical. fried karaage baos were tasty, but it would be extremely difficult to get these wrong. and the spicy tuna crunch (usually a favourite of mine) was extremely hard and i was pretty disappointed by it. the cocktails were decent, if a little unbalanced and boozy -- nice that they had happy hour going on (though, oddly not for the highball). likely wouldn't return here.

We visited Komo for Happy Hour and loved it! You know it's going to be good when they greet you with a complimentary shot of Sake when walk in. The decor is beautiful inside and the ambiance is perfect for a cute date night, girls night, or celebration. The lychee cocktail was my favorite, and the Hello Kitty cocktail has a cute presentation. We ordered some food from the Happy Hour menu and everything tased delicious. Server was very friendly and overall amazing experience here - Definitely want to come back and check out the cocktail lounge Esco upstairs!

My lovely wife and I were on a Happy Hour crawl in the fall and were drawn by the Happy Hour specials at Komo, located on Randolph just east of Halsted. Admittedly we were lured by the Hello Kitty cocktail (more on that later).Komo offers the Happy Hour specials Tuesdays through Fridays from 5-7PM, and we came by just a smidge before 7PM. The restaurant itself was full, but we snagged a table for two in front of the restaurant. It was just warm enough to sit outside, yay. Since we had been eating and drinking a bit, we were not terribly hungry. I ordered an old fashioned, and my love went for the Hello Kitty cocktail. These cocktails were half-price during the HH, so yay again. The Hello Kitty drink was adored by my wife, and came with its own cute little Hello Kitty cutout that you can take home. I needed a nibble, so I went with the fried chicken bao, topped with Asian slaw and pickle. They were good, but perhaps because I was not super hungry the bao did not knock my taste buds over. I did get a peek at the lovely interiors as I needed to visit the facilities, and the crowd seemed to enjoy dining at Komo immensely.

Komo's wonderful! There are a lot of fun, creative dishes. I love cod & their miso cod does not disappoint. It was very well seasoned and the sauces were unique. I also ordered the wagyu wraps and the lobster croquette - both great as well. Lots of flavors going on! One thing to note is that the lobster croquette is more like a soup. I think this dish could have benefitted from some rice because the soup is a curry sauce. I really enjoyed it, but I thought it was a tad salty. Also, it comes out PIPING hot. My server warned me how hot it would be & he was not kidding. Seriously, I would wait a few minutes to eat it unless you want to burn yourself. I'm knocking off a star because, while I enjoyed each dish, I don't think the a la carte items are well-rounded. There needs to be a veggie or a carb alongside the protein & mountain of sauce.

My favorite happy hour ever! I think I come here at least every other Friday. The best cocktails in West Loop, especially during happy hour when you get 50% off. The lychee martini and the yuzu kumo is my favorite. If you like mezcal you will love the hanami!

You walk into the restaurant and you find a host stand and a stairway. We walked in for happy hour (until 7pm on the weeknights) and were offered complimentary sake as we entered. With thick menu books, they open the sliding doors to a gorgeous restaurant with light tones and beautiful flowers. It was also nicely decorated for the holidays when I went. For the happy hour you can pick from 5 half off specialty cocktails as well as a variety of menu items. The cocktails were very pretty and strong. I tried the tuna crispy rice which was very small, but very quality. A fancy happy hour, but a great date vibe.

Romantic, intimate, modern and western Japanese.I highly recommend getting a reservation as they were packed when my wife and I went. Staff are courteous, welcoming, and elaborate on each dish ending from the source of the ingredients, how the chef recommends it be eaten, and how it was prepared.Dishes can be relatively small, but thankfully they allowed one of us to get the tasting course and al la carte for the other person. I was able to order a couple of things that weren't on the tasting menu and my wife and I shared each bite. I highly recommend the live uni (sea urchin), oyster threesome(each prepared with a different ingredient), and the wagyu (you get to cook thin slices of beef at your table on top of a heated stone).

Amazing experience. The tasting menu was so well done. The ambiance was nice and the staff were so knowledgeable and inviting. They also easily accommodated my dietary restrictions. The matcha crème brûlée was to die for. I would go back just for that. Go check them out!
