I've always wanted to try Koi and was so happy to dine there this Friday. We called ahead to put our names down as they said it would be a 15 min wait. We started off our meal with Shrimp dumplings which were amazing and well cooked. By checking in at Koi on Yelp you also get an appetizer on house! The kitchen was so backed up that our main course took around 25 mins. The lo-mein noodles were alright, nothing special. The sushi took another 10-15 mins to come out and we were not hungry so we tried a couple of pieces and packed up the rest. The sushi was so good and had a spicy kick to it. I would definitely come back for their happy hour menu which is $6 for everything including drinks. My friends raved about the lychee martinis that is on my list to try! Service was friendly but slow on a Friday night.

Shout out yelp for the coupon for a starter to which I ordered the spring rolls. Came out hot and crunchy! It was my first time trying the shrimp dumplings in the trio that were good but not as good as my newly favorite long bao dumplings(yellow tinted)!Lava cake was excellent. I demolished in about 2 min.Immediate seating, and great service. I ordered all my food at once. Mind you this was post yoga, I was hungry asf.

I finally went back to this place for the Dim Sum brunch. I made sure to make a reservation this time, but it was empty. Either way, the food was pretty good! They make soup bao which is on the Dim Sum menu as well. We pretty much had dumplings along with the scallion pancake. Everything was excellent ,but I call a special shout out to the scallion pancake. They were tasty and perfect. I went with the bottomless bloody marys which was good, but missing "something". I was hoping for something a little more Asian inspired, but instead I just got a solid bloody mary. Will I be back,, probably. The food has always been good. The service has been the iffy factor. Maybe I will just cross my fingers to get a good server. The Dim Sum Brunch server was excellent so yay!

I have been to Koi several times. My ultimate favorite meal here is dim sum on the weekends. I've taken friends here, family and my boyfriend and I love to go here when we're missing our favorite spot. They have bottomless mimosas for an incredibly good price. The food is phenomenal. An easy repeat restaurant that I love for dim sum. Can't wait to go back again!

We went here for dinner last night and started off with the steamed dumpling trio which comes with 2 soup dumplings, 2 shrimp dumplings, and 2 shrimp shumai. The shumai were underwhelming in our opinion, but the other two were so good and flavorful. We both agreed that our entrees were so good and the portions were huge! I will definitely have to return to try the dim sum brunch!

Went for happy hour. Service was ok. Limited street parking. Food didn't really impress. Out of everything we ordered the edamame was my favorite. Next time I might stay clear of the happy hour menu.

The food here is definitely good! I'd definitely come back to try their dim sum brunch and it's amazing that they offer a student menu! I pareticularly loved the portion size of our entrees. Definitely a good amount of food and the prices weren't too bad. The service was a bit slow, but we still had a good time.

Loved the soothing low lighting, fireplace and overall vibe. Great variety of Asian dishes from different regions, including Szechuan and Cantonese dishes. Our favorites were the steamed shrimp dumplings and steamed fish with broccoli, noodles and cilantro. Staff were friendly and helpful. Koi is located on a busy street, so arrive early to allow ample time to find parking. Download the Park Evanston app for street parking.

We came to Koi for the dim sum brunch. It was a lovely afternoon and the front of the restaurant was open, letting a pleasant breeze waft through. We had reservations so they seated us promptly in a little alcove off the main dining room. I was a little surprised that it wasn't more crowded. We mentioned to our server that we were celebrating a birthday and I also noted that I checked in via Yelp (which yields you a free appetizer -- we chose spring rolls). We then proceeded to order almost everything on the dim sum menu (using the order sheet and pencil). It was just a short while before a dizzying array of steaming baskets were delivered to our table. Stacks of baskets with enticing aromas wafting out -- we started on stir fried baby bok choy, Chinese broccoli in oyster sauce, thin and crispy scallion pancakes, xia long bao (soup dumplings), chive pockets, sweet cream buns....It was about this time, as we watched the stack of empty steamer baskets climb to an alarming height, that someone posed the question, was that everything? No it was not, as evidenced by additional baskets sallying forth, and displaying gleaming beef short ribs in black pepper sauce, pork belly and Peking duck nestled taco-style in pillowy white bao buns, scalding shrimp dumplings...The fatal flaw in our family DNA, we always order too much.We ate and then ate more. Even the champion eaters in our group had to wave the white flag. We had a grand time, we enjoyed the food, the service, the fine atmosphere. Then our server inquired, what would you like for your birthday dessert? The guest of honor and their friends selected mango and green tea mochi ice cream. That was a fine cap to our brunch. But wait, there's more. A plate of delicious almond cookies and fortune cookies was offered. Then it was time to take a few laps around the block before heading home.

Came for a happy hour before an event. Was super psych to have $6 cocktails. I didn't get food on this occasion but the person sitting next to me at the bar got some really wonderful chicken satay and a salad also on the happy hour menu. That being said I would definitely come back to check out koi and try some additional sushi options. I was fortunate that I was able to see the sushi chef prepare several rolls. The fish looked very fresh.
