Better than we expected. Small place in a strip mall doesn't scream "really good sushi". But that's what it was. We loved the garlic edamame to start. And then we had a couple of pretty straightforward rolls -- spider and tempera shrimp. Maybe those aren't really sushi but we enjoyed them. Service was great. Not terribly expensive (for La Jolla :))

When I lived in San Diego, this spot was right near my apartment, and has been my go to SD sushi spot ever since! Everything is reasonable priced, and it's such a cute spot. Our servers are always super kind, although I do always feel like they're trying to get us out super fast. This time we started with the fried chicken gyoza and each got a miso soup. You can get the gyoza steamed or fried, both are delicious! The miso soup is also great, tastes exactly how you would imagine it would. I got the shrimp tempura cut roll as my meal, and it was super delicious.Love this spot and would definitely recommend!

The first time I came here I was like God why haven't I come here more often. The sushi was great. The second time I came the sushi was good but it wasn't amazing and I think I realized on round two that they were overpriced. There's a small sushi bar and tables inside it's not a huge space in the Whole Foods Center in La Jolla. The service was fine. I don't know there's just so many sushi bars to choose from but this probably wouldn't be a staple for me.

I have come to the place with my friends for some sushi. The rolls are pretty good but some can be pricier than expected. The service can take some time. The place is clean and has plenty of seating.

Good spot near UCSD. Came for dinner and had some rolls along with ramen and cucumber salad. All tasted good. Service was friendly. Smaller space but still plenty of room with nice decoration.

The service was amazing. We were seated very quickly and then served right away. The food came out fast too and was well prepared. I appreciated that they cut their rolls more thin which is awesome because then you're not choking down your sushi. The flavors were incredible. We ordered the red geisha, the 911 roll, the La Jolla roll, and the baked salmon roll. All were fresh and tightly rolled. The restaurant was packed on a Friday night but you couldn't tell as the staff was running the place like it was no problem at all! It seemed like a great date night spot as there were a lot of couples in the restaurant. Maybe the proximity to a movie theater?

Mediocre sushi for the price, IMO. We got the OMG roll and it wasn't very good, I felt like I was eating at Sushi Deli until I remembered the price of the roll. Got a few nigiri pieces and those were good. The service though, just alright. The place's overall vibe is pretty underwhelming as well, and the menu didn't stand out to me. Won't be returning.

Unfortunately, Kinoyume Sushi & Grill is just mediocre. None of the entrees blew us away. It's a good sushi spot and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the restaurant, it's just that we've had better. You can find Kinoyume in the busy area of "The Shops at La Jolla Village" or the area where "Sprinkles" is located. Parking can be a hard as that area is super congested since there are a ton of store fronts. Service was good and quick. Everything was justly priced and the menu was standard. It consisted of sushi rolls, ramen, dessert & you know, the usual. Place was clean & was not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. We had the Garlic Butter Edamame [$7] which we loved! More garlic butter on everything plsss. Also ordered the 5 piece nigiri platter [$19]. This I thought was a great deal! Had the three usual, salmon, tuna & yellowtail and the last two were Chef's choice. I forgot what they were (albacore? & something) but they were very tasty as well. Generous portions of fish were given as seen in the pic. Again, nothing wrong occurred here. Everything was fine... but it was just that, "fine."
