What can I say about Kin Dee? I've been here multiple times and every time I'm reminded of how this is literally one of my favorite restaurants in Houston! I had the green curry chicken - just wow! So delicious - the noodles, the curry, the chicken and veggies. Incredibly fresh, light and flavorful. My boyfriend had the cashew chicken and couldn't stop talking about how good it was! It was our friends birthday and she absolutely had to have the mango sticky rice. She shared and that was also great! The ice cream was lactose free - made of coconut milk and the rice was sweet and sticky!Overall, always a great experience. The owners really put a lot of effort into everything and you can tell. Even the silverware is from Thailand! The staff was super friendly and I love the interior. They also had a live singer there on a Sunday afternoon. If you love Thai food, this is a must try!

Overall: 3 out of 5 mostly because they don't have many options for vegetarians. Good vibes and good drinks. Food: I will rate it 3 out of 5 because the food is bland unless you put chili oil. It makes the food so much better. The menu does not have many options for vegetarians. There are three options - 1/ Glass noodles 2/ Pad Thai 3/ a rice based option. None of the curries were vegetarians as the paste was either shrimp based or pork based. I wish they had more options.Appetizer: We had the purple flower dumplings. They were really good. Drinks: 5 out of 5. I have tried Tom Yum and Purple Rain. I liked both of them. Service: 5 out of 5. The host was courteous and good experience overall. Ambiance: 3.5 out 5. Good vibes and cozy setting.

The food was very flavorful, we love spicy food and chose dishes that we could adjust the heat levels to.Our waitress was excellent with understanding our preferences and helping us pick dishes we could add more heat to.The Thai Flower Dumplings weren't only pretty but oh so good! Our entire meal was excellent start to finish. It was very quiet during lunch and we were able to sit and enjoy each others company and have a delightful conversation.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the food here. The papaya salad had a nice kick and flavor to it, but the portion was small... and I dislike it when restaurants don't give you much shredded papaya. The northern style curry is visually appealing, but is lacking in flavor. You would expect curry to be full of flavor and spices but we got the opposite. It was also close to being lukewarm when we got the dish. As for the Tiger Cry, it was just a typical steak. The sauce that came with the dish didn't elevate the steak too much unfortunately. I enjoyed my Tom Kha margarita though, very fragrant. The vibes here are nice, there was live music that was a bit too loud though...

Met a girlfriend on Friday at 6. Noticed all tables had reserved seating signs, but hostess was able to provide seating. She also mentioned reservations are not required but recommended for weekends after 7pm. Our waitperson was helpful recommending drinks - alcoholic and non, appetizers and a few main dishes. The flower dumplings appear to be their signature appetizer, however they were mediocre - the taste was bland and not much more than if you steamed dumplings at home. The money bags are basically an egg roll in a ball shape. Basic. We shared Panang Curry w shrimp and Drunken Noodles with chicken. The curry dish had a nice flavor but the curry flavor was indistinguishable. The mild drunken noodles had a good flavor and the right amount of spice. The restaurant has about 15 tables inside, high top seating in the bar, and two patio areas. Parking was not that difficult, considering it's on Shepherd - but if you're familiar with the area you already understand the parking. Not sure about other nights, but meeting a friend on Friday night (at 6pm) for a catch up dinner isn't ideal as we felt rushed and was constantly interrupted with questions. Definitely a churn and burn seating environment. Our tab - 1 drink pp + the items mentioned - was $102. Personally a tad high for basic Thai food, but you're paying for the location.

My family and I had a reservation for Sat at 11:15 am (right at opening). It quickly filled up after 15-20 minutes. The parking lot complex was busy but I was still able to find decent parking without circling around. This was my 2nd visit but my family had frequently dined at the restaurant. Our server was very kind and helpful with the menu. The decor is very bright and feels modernized. The restroom was very clean. We went all out. For appetizers, we got the chicken satay, chicken wings & papaya salad medium spicy level (definitely hot!) so I couldn't take more than 2 bites but our server did caution us. We ate family style for our main course which included Tom kha soup, crystal noodles with tofu, pad see ew with beef, crab fried rice, green curry with noodles. For dessert, we got the coconut ice cream on top of the pandan sticky rice & mango shaped into a flower. Everything was delicious! You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. I'm half Thai and usually picky on authentic Thai food.

Came here with a friend on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't busy at all and we were seated right as we walked in. The interior was very pretty and there was live singing so the atmosphere of the restaurant was great! My friend and I ordered the Pad See Ew with pork and the Panang Curry with chicken. They were both $17 which is more expensive than what I usually pay for Thai food. The two dishes were flavorful and I appreciated the waiter for providing chili oil on the side in case we wanted to make it more spicyI'm going to keep this review short because to be honest, there was nothing really that special about what we ordered. If you come here, you're definitely paying for the upscaleness/ambiance but in terms of the food, I don't think there's anything special based on what we ordered for it to justify the price point. However, the service was great and there's a whole cocktail menu that I didn't get to explore so maybe I'd come back to a date night.

First time trying this place and it was interesting!! We tried their most popular appetizers the "'money bags" and the dumplings. They were both tasty and I loved that the dumplings were vegan, but my favorite were the money bags for sure! for my main meal I got the tiger cry steak and it was delicious!! Service was great! Definitely would go back (:

Saturday errands and Thai go together like babies and pacifiers, says an urban poet. Well, not really...but you know what I mean.Enough of that...let's talk about the food and the experience. From the entrance, we came through, there is a small waiting area and we were guided to a table in what seems to be on of maybe 15-20 high-tops and regular tables. There is also outside seating, however, the day was a little too blustery. There were only about 5 other tables occupied at the time we were there, which was great so we could get the best service and food speed. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We immediately ordered drinks (Stella/$7 and dirty martini/$14 with Tito's) and put in our app order for the chicken wings. They arrived within a decent amount of time. There were six wings in the order and it was served with a side of tamarind sauce. My husband noted that the chicken had little flavor, but I dedicated a hint of salt and the sauce added a good flavor. The only problem is that there was not enough of that sauce. No joke - there was about a full two teaspoons worth of sauce. Kin Dee can solve this problem with a light drizzle over the wings, before they are shuttled off to the table. We ordered our mains (combo drunk noodles and chicken pad thai) which were around $20 bucks, each. We ordered them mild and there was still a slight kick - experienced Thai diners know to go milder at first, until you learn the establishment's affinity for spice. The pad thai was served wrapped in an egg crepe. Not only did it keep the heat in, it keep the noodles moist. The drunk noodles were also slathered (in a good way) with the delectable sauce. The pad thai was served with a "platter" of add-ons: chile, peanuts, etc. Unfortunately, it was just not enough - no joke, a tablespoon of each. For the cost, give me more peanuts. sheesh.Decor: Very cool black and white decor with modern scaffolding of plants and chic lighting; chairs were fabric and very cool looking; table height and chair height was spot-on (doesn't always happen)Ambience: I was attracted to the live music/singer - she showed at about 1:30pm and she added to the overall experienceConvenience: Tight restroom area because of display case (see next note); there is a dedicated parking lot for the shopping center but I can see at peak times that it would not be sufficient (there is construction on the side streets bordering the center); about 5-10 minutes into the Heights from the freewayDishware: We ate family style and we only had about 4-inch sized saucers; it would be nice to have a larger plate, especially when trying to serve noodles (as a matter of fact, the hall to the restroom has a case where flatware and dishware is sold, that you eat on, in the restaurant)Prices: With tip, we paid about $85 for lunch (two drinks, two mains, one starter) - a little steepVerdict: Overall, the owners of Kin Dee have done an amazing job: great food taste, inventive presentation, great flatware/dishes/flatware and cool ambience - I get it, prices have to be higher b/c of area and cool factor - if I was in the neighborhood, I would definitely go again but it would not be appointment dining because of where I live and the price point is a bit high - kudos! Definitely a 4.5 rating. (I'll give it a 4 here)

We stopped in AFTER another thai meal for dessert (mango with sticky rice) and ended up ordering the panang curry and the khao soi. Everything was excellent, better than we even expected. The noodles in the khao soi were perfectly crispy on top and softened in the soup over the course of our meal. Good service, and it also looks like a cute spot for drinks in the evening. Can't wait to go back!
