Had the chance to finally try Kawaii sushi last Friday night and it was really good. We tried a variety of sushi rolls, California, Philadelphia, Sunset, Autumn and C-4. They were yummy and we devoured everything. My husband was also excited to get an Orion beer (they are brewed in Okinawa Japan and imported). Service was great, the servers were very attentive. The place did start to pickup greatly once 6pm came so we were glad we arrived earlier. The decor is subtle and nice. The pricing was a bit high but we knew the costs for what we ordered. With tax and tip we spent a little over $90.

Kawaii Sushi and Asian Cuisine have two locations, one in Glendale and another in Peoria. Unfortunately, Kawaii was quite a disappointment. I had very high expectations for this place (especially because the front of the menu is printed with an Asian woman who claims to be the owner of the place). As I've been searching for authentic Asian food in Arizona for over two years, I have yet to find any. First and foremost, the Shumai/Siu Mai (six pieces) we ordered was half frozen. You could tell it was microwaved because it had that microwave-esque texture to it. If you observe the photo I have uploaded, you can tell these are no different than Trader Joe's shumai which was quickly plated. The Smoked Salmon Nigiri (two pieces) was also subpar. Now, I don't expect an omakase-level quality of fish at a place like Kawaii. That's not why this restaurant is rated so low. However, (observe the photo I have uploaded) one can immediately tell this salmon is not even salmon. It's either a really poor-quality grade fish, or unfortunately, imitation salmon. It tasted extremely bland, and nothing like "smoked" salmon. The Hot Mama Roll was decent. Definitely the best out of everything we ordered. The spicy tuna was definitely not spicy tuna, but the eel sauce helped uptake the flavor. If you find yourself at Kawaii, definitely recommend you skip the other entrées and perhaps go for their specialty rolls. The Shui-Zhu Beef was inadequate. Although it claims to be one of their spiciest options on the menu, it was VERY bland. Hardly any beef (mainly bean sprouts), had no flavor or spice, and tasted like it's been cooked hours ago. Like many (many!) reviews have mentioned, Kawaii seems to either serve their food extremely salty or extremely bland. Perhaps Kawaii was much better in 2014 when it first opened, but as of 2022, I can't say the same. Oh, and although not pictured, we ordered two cocktails. A Long Island (was actually pretty decent), as well as a Gin & Tonic. The Gin & Tonic (no joke) was just water and gin. Perhaps as part of their budget cuts for the upcoming recession, they decided to opt out of restocking their tonic water. Who wants to pay $20 for watered-down gin?I would give Kawaii a lower review, but our server, Katie, was exceptionally kind and attentive. Of course, we didn't complain (or mention any of what is in this review) to Katie, but regardless, she provided outstanding service. If the owner or business manager of Kawaii is reading this, please consider promoting her!

Treated my daughter to a fun sushi lunch after her soccer game. Potstickers we're ok. We ordered C-4 Roll... that was amazing. And a California roll, shrimpTempura roll and Caterpillar Roll. She's starting slow but the rolls tasted fresh and were great. We also ordered a veggie plate with fried tofu and the Walnut Shrimp. I recommend it all! But do not order a tea or soda... they cost $4 a piece! I thought that was wild- but overall it was a nice lunch with good portion size. Will absolutely return.

Was not a fan unfortunately. This is my second time getting take out food that was subpar. Chicken seems like it's boiled with zero flavor, and had a slimy texture. See photo for reference. Orange chicken was bad quality as well. Rice was crunchy and over cooked in some bites. Vegetables were all so soft that it felt like I was eating baby food. Spring rolls didn't have great flavor and even the sweet and sour sauce could not save them. Ended up dipping them in my teriyaki sauce, and even that over sugared sauce wasn't doing the trick either. Some stomach indigestion as I type this too. For the price and the high reviews... I'm a little confused. Maybe their sushi is good?

The food is just OK! The salt and pepper squid was small and very spicy, and the sushi rolls were small. The fish on the Rainbow Roll was very thin and tasted bad. And the shrimps in shrimp tempura are cold, not freshly fried. But the waiters were very nice and enthusiastic.
