Amazing vibes, community spirit, and addictive (and heavy!) food.I had a side of the fried ginger chicken, a scoop of mac salad, and the kalua pig with cabbage. The ginger chicken is quite possibly the best fried chicken I've had in the city. And I've tried quite a few places (including a popular one in Phinney Ridge that gets a lot of press). What makes this chicken so good? Its the generous chunks of dark, juicy meat with a perfectly crackly, crispy fried exterior with just a touch of ginger and layers of sweetness and possibly other warming spices. The flavors all meld together, and in some parts there is a touch of caramelization even though there is no sauce. The chef really knows what they're doing - it's all about the balance of the spices and texture, and it translates to their other dishes too - and Cakes of Paradise (their other cake / donuts / pie shop) next door.Next, kalua pig with cabbage. Unfortunately this came a bit oversalted (off day?), but the nuanced smokiness and possibly leaf wrappings in its preparations melded together in an earthy, melt-in-your-mouth, rich dish. To me, the traditional prep of pork + cabbage is a no brainer. The cabbage is succulent and delightfully flavorful in the pork broth, and balances out an otherwise meat monotone dish. This balanced is served even more so with the two scoops of rice and mac salad.Somehow this places still gives off hole in the wall and underrated vibes. Lots of people who seemed like regulars were stopping by, and I could see people running the restaurant sitting down and hanging out with others in the sitting area chatting happily. In addition to giving off warm community vibes, I want to highlight how accessible the prices are for the quality and incredible artistry of the food. The ginger chicken 6 pc (which is pretty huge) was only $7.50, a scoop of mac salad side was $2, and the kalua pork plate (which comes with the rice/salad) was $12. A statement in the face of rising costs, and in keeping with the hospitality/symbolic place this place has in the city.I love this place and will need to come back. Highly recommend if you're looking to take someone out of town for Hawaiian food in Seattle too.

Came to get a to go order and the food is really good. I went with the lau lau kalua pig plate lunch combo and it was enough for more than 1 person. The loco moco looked good too, but I did not try that. The restaurant itself is small but they seem to do a great job of getting to the customers quickly. They don't always answer the phone quickly if they are busy but it's worth the wait to get your food. Can't speak about the ambiance since I took the food to go.

Authentic Hawaiian restaurant in an unassuming Georgetown strip mall. The interior is casual, with homey decor and a handful of tables. The menu includes a variety of plate lunches, regional side dishes, breakfast, burgers, and more. There were even a few vegetarian options (including saimin!). You can also buy cake slices from the amazing bakery next door. Place your order at the counter, and your food will be brought to your table. My Two Fried Eggs Over Fried Rice was delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the rice was flavorful. My husband got an order of fried chicken and their Loco Moco. He said the chicken was really dry, but he loved the Loco Moco. The Mac Salad was also outstanding. Overall, a tasty lunch, though I hope they consider switching to recyclable containers; everything is served in styrofoam.

Imagine I'm from Kaua'i and lived in WA since 2009 and this is my first time here. Mary. Anyway, a friend and I came in on a Friday at 11:00a and made it right before the lunch rush. It's take-out style so you can eat inside, there's just no table service. We luckily got a spot at one of the tables (shared large table with a family).I got the laulau plate with Mac salad. The laulau was the perfect size for me, but if you have a HUGE appetite, might ask for two :) It was cooked to perfection though. Moist, plenty fat, which I love. I like to cut up the fat and eat some with each bite; don't judge me. Was ono. 10/10 recommend. Mac salad was good and meat to rice ratio was perfect. I got a small side of poi. You can get different sizes too. Tasted fresh. Now that I know for sure as good, I'm coming back. Plus it's next to Cakes of Paradise, hello two birds one stone.

My go to meal is the crispy ginger chicken plate sub fried rice with mac salad. It never disappoints. Post Covid, they have added back some indoor seating. It would be nice to have the self serve water station added back. They do not serve coffee. It looks like they are more food focused now.

Cheeehoooo! Came here 2x in 5 days. If I lived in Seattle, this place would be a regular for me. You know this place is legit when you have a constant stream of regulars coming in to buy food. This time tried the laulau combo and had the chicken (again). Also got their manapua special. Wow, all were really onolicious!! The food is so damn authentic. Laulau is moist and flavorful. This place really transports me back to Hawaii. Hawaiian local food...You know when you know. Yesssah!

It was like I sat down with a nice Hawaiian family and had a great home cooked meal. I had the ginger fried chicken because other Yelp'rs before me posted great pictures of it and the fried chicken was excellent. I dove into the plate I ordered and didn't even think to take a picture of it.

Good lord if you're in the Georgetown area and you don't stop by this place, you missed a lil piece of heaven here. Kalua pork was incredible. Tender, juicy, and gotta grab it with the cabbage. Cabbage soaks in all the flavor! This place is dangerously too close to my house and I have a feeling I'll be stopping by this place far too often.

Such wonderful food! I don't get here often enough since we moved out of the city, but now that they have in dining tables (take out containers but no in dining service) I'm more likely to come for lunch! So my favorite is the chicken cutlet with rice, gravy, and Mac salad. Husband got the bbq with rice & Mac salad, and my brother got the Kalua Pork with cabbage, rice, & Mac salad.Onolicious! We all brought our leftovers to eat at home for our next meal.We always come back!

Busy busy busy during lunch time on a Friday. You order at the counter for takeout or dine in. Take a seat and somehow the girl at the register remembers what you order and delivers your food with a smile! Be sure to take a bite with all the components. The chicken was seasoned and crispy, the brown gravy added a nice salty element, the mac salad was a creamy complement .
