I finally made it to Karaage Setsuna, and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. This is seriously one of the most underrated spots in Seattle, especially if you're looking for Japanese Hawaiian food. My fiance and I went for the curry rice with chicken karaage, so we could try two things at once. It looked unassuming in pictures, but my expectations were quickly blown away. Not only is the chicken crazy juicy, it has incredible flavor from the marinade - specifically sake. The curry and red pickles were also outstanding. It tastes home cooking in the best way possible. We also got a side of macaroni salad, which in my opinion is a great litmus test for Hawaiian food. It was awesome! Ditto for the french fries, which are made using butter and soy sauce. It all gives me a lot of confidence in the rest of the menu, and I'm now trying to figure out when I can make it back here.

Came for a V-Day treat! Wandering the streets of Belltown looking for some eats led us to the inviting steps of Karaage Setsuna. We were seated immediately. The ordering system is funny. You scan a QR code and order from your phone! It was easy enough but just felt odd that we still also had someone wait on us.We obvi got the karaage plate. Great chicken, loved the Mac salad. We got one lemon pepper style which I would really recommend for the extra tang. We also got spicy mayo and mango mayo. Spicy mayo feels like a classic but the mango mayo was the big game changer, kinda sweet and also tang! It's all about the tang! Its seems like a real casual neighborhood spot. They were playing pop music the whole time. I would stop in again for another weeknight dinner!

The place is very close to CityU so convenient to eat during lunch. They close during mid afternoon when it's slow. The karaage plate has a good portion of meat that it was shareable for 2. It came with miso soup but it tasted a bit bland so perhaps it was diluted too much. The karaage on the other hand was okay, the sauces are extra $ though (just fyi). Parking is not so great because it is just street parking so you'll have to be creative to look for them when it's busy. The California roll was good and I am surprised how well it held itself. The sushi rice mixture was very good. Service is also good and very attentive. The place is a mix of Hawaiian and Japanese. Overall I will still come back here for a quick lunch.

Solid place get some rolls and karaage. Cute little restaurant that is a hit up if you are looking for crispy chicken karaage which is perfectly fried and the meat inside tender. We also ordered the sashimi salad with Tuna and Salmon. Super yummy. The karaage curry was solid. A little light flavor than I am accustomed to but still good. We ordered the tempura rolls which was well made. The ordering system was via phone and had tons of options and flexibility. Service was exceptional too. Solid place to visit.

Karaage comes out piping hot, crispy, and juicy. I like that you can pick and choose your sauces: we got spicy mayo (a must), wasabi ranch (better than regular ranch), and onion yuzu (not great, but like a katsu sauce). Love karaage.

First time I've been here and it was pretty decent, the karaage was good, definitely worth a try, and the sushi wasn't the most fresh.I really enjoyed the theme and def think I should come back for anything spam related since they have it EVERYWHERE in the restaurant. The servers checked on my a few different times and were quite kind. I did go right when they opened in the evening so they were not too busy!

Had been to this spot a few years back when they only had like less than 3 tables. Now I'm glad they're doing so well that it necessitated more space - good for them! I get the always crispy, delicious fresh karaage every time - and it comes with miso soup as an included app! You get so much protein here and you want to eat it all because of this chickens satisfying bite. The mac salad and rice are great sides but I can honestly eat the chicken alone some days. Don't forget to squeeze the lemon and get a sauce for dipping to tie together the whole dish. Apart from awesome food, the service is quick and efficient. We will definitely be back!

Really solid karaage & Japanese-Hawaiian restaurant! I ordered the Deluxe curry and the portion was huge! Came with hamburger patty, chicken karaage, tea eggs, curry, and rice. The curry was really well seasoned, the karaage was nice and crispy with just the right amount of breading, and the hamburger meat was juicy and tender. The service here is very fast. Despite being quite busy on a Friday evening, I ordered through the QR code and got the complimentary miso within a minute and the dishes a couple minutes after finishing the soup.I'd definitely come again!

If you love Karaage, you gotta check this spot! Everything is so good here! My favorite is the karaage but their takoyaki and deluxe curry are super tasty as well. The fries are amazing - I love the yakisoba sauce flavored dry spice - I couldn't stop going for more! The restaurant has lots of dipping sauce options. My favorites are the hot habanero and wasabi ranch! Their white peach soda is a great drink option - it's refreshing and goes very well with the food! Overall, food portion is big, price is reasonable, ambience is casual but nice, and service is great!

Came here based on the high reviews and my love for good chicken Karage since I came back from Japan. I have yet to find a place that replicates the chiicken karaage like I had at Lawson's or the dozens of food markets under the department stores. Walked in, was immediately sat down. Restaurant is medium sized. Ordering is done via QR code and payment is cashless. Love that combo. Chicken Karaage Curry with soft boiled egg 3/5: The curry did not have too much flavor to it, and they poured it over the Karaage which did not allow me to taste the Karaage in its original form. The soft boiled egg was not really soft as the yolk was hard. I did manage to taste some bits of Karaage without curry which was really good. This prompted me to order another order of Karaage in its original form. Karaage Small 5/5: The flavor did remind me of Japan. This is probably the closest I've had to Karaage in Japan. Crunchy exterior with the right amount of ginger, garlic and soy while the chicken is very juicy. Highly recommend this. Didn't get a chance to try the Spicy or Lemon Pepper. Next time. Overall, the prices were very reasonable, quick service and nice ambiance. Will definitely be back.
