lemon square
a plate of cookies and a piece of cake
the outside of a building with large windows
Small vanilla donut with coffee twist. Too delicious.
The chocolate chip cookies are the crown jewel of the menu. Crisp around the edges, chewy in the center. A hint of salt and not too sweet.
Lavender shortbread and oatmeal cream pie!!
a display case of donuts and pastries
Bad picture, sorry about that.. but we ate these items FAST! DELICIOUS!

As far as quaint bakeries go, YUM is one of my top picks. If you didn't know it was there, you may miss it because it's off the beaten path on a side street in midtown near the Kansas City Art Institute. YUM has constantly been one of my favorite small batch bakeries in Kansas City and has gluten-free and vegan options sometimes in their case. One of my favorites of these is the sweet potato doughnut, a soft cake doughnut that tastes of fall. Another classic YUM does oh so good is a traditional lemon bar, in my opinion, the perfect summer picnic dessert. Theirs is true to its classic form with tart tangy lemon filling and powdery sugar laden top, jammy in the middle, and slightly crispy around the edges. It truly does "melt in your mouth" in the best way possible. The muffins here also are divine, not something I usually order at a bakery, but YUMs are plump and inviting. YUM is the perfect nostalgia trap (in a good way), and the interior is decorated with pie safes full of vintage cookie cutters as well as a cute fireplace on the other side of the bakery. It's pretty much a one woman show all around, and she's the bees knees! Protect this lovely local bakery at all costs! It made it through covid, and now it's been a tough year because of streetcar construction route so, if you've never been to YUM or almost forgot it existed like I almost did once u moved I urge you to stop by! Enjoy a homemade oatmeal cream pie that blows Debbie's out of the water.

I've been following the owner's heroic efforts to reopen her business for awhile. Last week was the first time I've been able to visit. It's a beautiful shop with many places to sit and relax. The area is really nice too. All the baked items we tried were delicious. We had a lemon bar (my fav), a sweet potato donut, a chocolate chip cookie, a slice of banana bread, and a coconut macaroon. I would have preferred a touch more sweetness in some of the items, but that's just a preference. But everything was fresh, and you could taste the quality. The shop is extremely clean and there is a serve yourself water jug for easy access. I really like this shop, and I don't feel like they are price gouging you. Very good prices. I will definitely be back!

I don't have a cute photo to share, which is a shame because this shop is so charming. The owner is always kind, the baked goods are delicious and the vintage corner shop is the real treat. I am so happy to see that it is still around as I emerge from my Covid bubble.

My boyfriend and I stumbled across this sweet little shop last weekend while were in town for a show.Dude.Dude.Everything we got was phenomenal. The lavender/Earl Grey cookies were perfect. I wish I had bought more for the drive back. The macaroon was sweet and crispy and magical.Excellent lemon bar.And the lavender lemonade was quite refreshing.None of the lavender items were too lavender-y or over-the-top. Everything had a perfect balance of flavors.I can't wait for our next KC trip now!

This is a cute little bakery in the Volker area. The mini bourbon bread pudding was delicious when warmed, it would be great with a whiskey sauce icing on it! The sweet potato "donut" (it was baked) was surprisingly good! It was very soft and moist with a delicate sweetness. The lemon cake was tasty as well: not too strong in the lemon (my personal preference) with a good crust in the bottom. Stop in and try some of their delights if your sweet tooth needs a fix :)

After my boyfriend and I indulged in some great pizza from Topp'd, we continued to satisfy our taste buds by searching for some cupcakes. We attempted to hit up a couple of spots we found on Yelp on W 39th, but failed to find stores that were open. He and I were almost ready to just call it quits, when we spotted a little bakery called Yum. Too easy. When we stepped in, we were immediately engulfed in pastel colors, antiques, and a mouth-watering display of sweets. It took a solid 4 minutes before we were finally able to make our choices, but we ended up getting a green tea scone, and a white small donut with coffee glaze and chocolate sprinkles. The donut cake was so fresh and all of the flavors were amazing.I was the first to add the business to Yelp, first to review, and certainly going to be the first to go back and get another round!

We ordered Yum for pick up -again- last night but had their corn pizza for the first time. We will be adding that one every time we order now-it was so good. I just wish we had not eaten all of it with our 2 friends to have it for lunch today. Highly recommend that- and always their blueberry salad. You will not be disappointed!! Stephanie W
