Adult Night
Skating rink
This is my friend laci
They have a small area off the rink where you can practice your moves.
On Adult night, there are no kids to stumble over or skate around.

I'm usually all about the food, on Yelp that is. I usually only review food, but I've got to throw some love to Winwood Skate Center. When I was planning my 50th birthday party I wanted a place that would be fun for all ages, friends, family, like my parents, my nieces, nephews, my teenagers and my grands. When you are about to turn 50, it's a milestone, and I believe it's something you should be proud of and celebrate with flair! Looking back over the years some of my favorite birthday parties were at skating rink, and I essentially lived at the Roller Drome back in ABQ. I decided I wanted to celebrate the big 5-0, on some quads, with my favorite people in the world, and luckily they were there for it.We had an epic time and my heart was FULL! When they called for the birthday girls to come to the center of the rink my family insisted I go too. Being the oldest, I was the last to say my name and age into the microphone. There was a cute little girl in a Barbie fit that outshined us all, but when it was my turn I didn't hesitate for a second, I'm 50 YEARS OLD!They even gave me a goodie bag and a sweet drawing. Thank you Winwood, for helping me get my birthday skate on and relive my teenage dreams. 5/5 and then some!Responding to a few other reviews, I never saw our table attendant but some of our guests did, but I passed out the cookies myself. I know for sure they refilled the soda a few times which was nice, but I don't recall getting popcorn which was listed as a part of the package. I felt like the party was fairly inexpensive considering our guest were $5 a piece, sk8 rental included. There were a multitude of children using the roller walkers, I'm not sure what they're called but they ensure that everyone looked like they were practicing for the nursing home with their walkers, except on skates. I'm really looking forward to checking out the adult night!

A great place to have fun and learn at the same time. I've been skating there for over 10 years and have made a lot of friends

*****Update from April 29*****Since our last visit over spring break, we have noticed a few changes after having a kiddo celebrate a birthday here:Forgotten: 1/10 After checking in and getting setup at our table, we saw our host twice. Once to introduce himself and the second time after he brought pizza to the table. After that, it was shift change and the evening crew came in. Things went downhill quickly. Rules: 1/10 Compared to last time, there was someone explaining rules constantly. There was also more games and a limited variety in the music selection. I do feel this was in response to the spring break shenanigans, which included parents on the skate floor without skates, kids skating while eating chicken wings, and people skating unnecessarily fast, which resulted in a lot of hurt folks.Customer Service: 6/10 The ladies at the front are always solid, friendly, and welcoming. I cannot say the same about the person who took over for the evening shift. She had no clue about what was going on. An A-list celeb could have walked in and she would not know the difference. Shout out to the security guard that was there in preparation for the adult skate.Overall: 5/10 I am disappointed in our last visit. I'm thinking it is because it was later in the evening versus the middle of the day, which is probably when we will visit the most with the kids. The music selection was absolutely trash and it felt like they were trying to put us to sleep instead of motivating people to skate. The constant games and rules were also a barrier to enjoying the skate rink and there is no reason why there should be a 30 minute game of red light-green light. This won't be a deal breaker this time and we will give it another chance, but we may wait until mid-summer to visit again.

I'm going to state the facts, then give my opinion.I went on a Friday night. There was a slight smell of marijuana when I entered. There were two police officers inside for security. There was a patrol car outside (not in Winnwood's parking lot, but in the one adjacent). Demographics (approximately):~85% teenagers~10% adults~5% children=10% really good skaters/jam and rhythm skaters=60% intermediate skaters=30% beginnersAdmission for yesterday was $10 (without skate rental). They have lockers for an additional cost ($1.75 maybe?), but they also have free cubbies along the wall, on the far side directly across from the entrance under their "Winnwood Skate Center" mural. Here is my (probably unpopular) opinion:Do I feel like it was the safest place to skate? Not really. Now, nothing happened while I was there. There weren't any altercations or drama-- no one caused any trouble. My shoes were left unattended, and they were still in their exact spot I left them in two hours later. The skaters seemed to be respectful; I didn't notice anyone cut off or roughhouse any other skaters. But... I've also never been to a skating rink that required police officers in attendance. You could argue that it makes Winnwood safer than other rinks that go without security, but... I don't know. Take it how you will. For a Friday night, it was actually not packed. There was enough room to skate comfortably and scope out who may fall in your path to start skating around them. The small practice skate area was about the size of a small classroom. It's big enough to test out the trucks on your skates to see if you need to loosen them or tighten them, but it's really not big enough to learn how to skate. I like that Winnwood does adult skate nights for those that would like to avoid the teenage crowd. The music was primarily R&B. Would I go back? Absolutely. But I may choose to go back only in the day time.

This place still slaps even after all these years. I remember the last time I been here was with my middle school friends, and we used to love skating. Going back here brings back so many good memories. Mind you, I am rusty and being back on the skates made me nervous because I'm scared to fall and hurt myself. lol They do have a beginning skating rink in case you don't want to go to the big skating rink or you can use on of those handicap railing to help you. Skating in the smaller rink helped me and my bestie regain our confidence and we were skating again in the big rink. So much fun to hang out with our adults friends and now our kids get to enjoy skating like we did back then. Prices is very reasonable to skate and to rent the rollerskates or blades. Prices of food and drinks and arcade is so cheap, definitely would recommend this spot for my family and friends.

AND THE PEOPLE ARE SO NICE ITS CRAZY LIKE WHEN I FELL IT WAS A GROUP OF TEN PEOPLE THAT WAS LIKE " are you okay girly?" and I said "yes" then they helped me up like even your own friends aren't that nice.. wanna bet ;) THEN GO THERE

Have never had an issue. My daughter comes here to skate and I just watch her. But now all of a sudden they charge me the same amount to come in and just watch her skate around. Won't be coming back.
