Winfield House

Winfield House in an unobtrusive, conservative furniture and interior accessories store. Whereas I'd shop at Blue Heron, Winfield House is my mother's generation kind of place. Everything inside is tastefully staged and aromatically alluring. I spent at least five minutes alone on candle smelling! Since it's that time of year, Winfield House was also full of harvest motif home decorations. Who finds time to put this stuff out, keep the cats from dragging stuff off the tables and then put it away again in a color coded holiday decorations bin? Not me. But if you have time on your hands and money to burn, you too can give your entire home a fall makeover courtesy of Winfield House.

Wow. What happened to the cute, small store with Duke, the enormous golden retriever?Before Duke passed and the store moved to a much larger space down the street, I enjoyed browsing Winfield House. But now, the store seems like a chain store showroom, with too-loud music that doesn't fit with such a store (Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious"...huh?), and several signs to keep your gosh darn spawn off their furniture.I'm not a fan.

Such a cute store! I purchased a couch from here. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Apparently it's family owned and three generations work here, which is awesome. One of those small business that do a great job!

I absolutely LOVE this home furnishings store. I have the exact same taste as whoever owns this store -- traditional look, warm colors. Even if I don't buy anything, stopping into the store gives me great decorating ideas. They also have professional decorators on their staff who can help you with designing your home. That being said, this store is soooo expensive. But the stuff is so nice, I have to splurge every once in awhile. On furniture, sometimes you can have the same item ordered at Nebraska Furniture Mart for A LOT less, once you know who the manufacturer is. Also, be aware that I've seen the exact same items here as at Hobby Lobby a few times (for example, a metal potpourri bowl that I bought at HL, I saw here for a much higher price).

Winfield House has been our go-to for over 30 years. We have been repeat customers when we've replaced or updated living room and bedroom furniture, dining accessories. We still use our dishes from long ago when they had their smaller shop many years ago. We have known the Campbells who have owned the store all these years. They are trustworthy and honest and give great decorating assistance. Their decorators came to our house to help with drapes and window treatments to update our traditional look. This week we walked in for our usual browsing to see what was new. Their new chair from Norway was calling my name. We weren't in the market for a new chair but this is sooo comfortable I had to have it. Can't wait for it to come in. But then we needed to update other living room furnishings so Linda helped me with a new side and coffee tables. Their 20% off spring sale is starting soon which really helps making these purchases. Thank you Winfield House for hanging in all these years through the pandemic. It is NOT easy for small businesses to survive these days and they are doing everything they can to continue to be here for Lawrence.

I love this store. So many wonderful ideas as you wonder through the store. Staff is knowledgeable and so very kind as you ask questions. Their interior design team makes you feel comfortable as they work with you on small details or on designing your new area. Highly recommend stopping by.

My husband, kids and I just left out of the store due to poor service. Soon after we walked in one of the workers (middle aged man) looked us in the face but quickly turned the other direction without acknowledging us. I won't say it was because we are African American but we came in with the potential to purchase several items. We decided we would spend money where we are acknowledged since Winfield House has poor customer service.

Winfield House is one of the best shops in downtown Lawrence. Their staff is welcoming, friendly, and experts in their field! I have visited frequently for custom silk floral arrangements, too! They always know what will look just right in my home. While I have not had an in-home consultation, I can bring in pictures, etc. and the girls are always willing to help me find the perfect piece. Not to mention, the candles smell amazing and the Lawrence dishware line always makes a perfect gift!

A wonderful store with many wonderful things but unfortunately poor customer service. We recently tried to purchase a sofa but were told we could not purchase it because we were questioning why the $295 contract we signed would not apply towards the purchase. In the contract it states they will come to our home, they didn't offer, and that we were to buy the furniture suggested to us by the decorator but no one suggested any furniture to us. The younger owner was extremely rude to us and even told my husband that I called one of the other owners a lier. We might have had a misunderstanding but never did I say lier, I have the upmost respect for that individual. When I told him that I would call him tomorrow because we were upset and wanted to discuss what we should do and before I could tell him the rest of why I wanted to talk to him tomorrow, he said he would cut me a check for $70 out of the $295 and that we needed to part ways. If he would have listened to the rest of what I had to say, then he would have heard me say that we were thinking about buying another piece of furniture too. I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in retail before. My husband called him and asked him how we got to this point and he was rude to him too. It will be sad not to go in this store again because I saw many things that I wanted to buy over time for my new home. However, we went to another store on Saturday and found an amazing sofa on sale with free delivery and great customer service. I only posted this because I want every one to beware if they sign a contract with them. It truly saddens me not to be able to shop in this store again.
