I went to grade school at St. Ann's in Prairie Village and after school most days, I'd just walk across the soccer field to this small hidden park. I would say only those who send their children to this school or who live in the area are aware of its existence. St. Ann's doesn't own the park - it is a public park, but again, very hidden to the naked eye, tucked back near the creek between trees. But there's everything to do here, it has two tennis courts, a playground (recently revamped), a large pavilion with picnic tables near an outdoor grill, swings, and a huge sandbox. The pavilion is booked heavily during the early fall, spring, and summer seasons for children's birthday parties and other celebrations. I went to countless numbers of them as a kid myself. The school's yearly ice cream social is held in this park, a welcome-back party in late August with gallons and gallons of ice cream spread all over the pavilion to accommodate the crowds in attendance. Windsor Park is a truly beloved space for all those who have been there. Children LOVE it - it's not very large for them to get lost in, the equipment is new and top of the line, the creek is always tempting for games. It's not the most adult-active parks, besides the tennis courts, it has little recreation to offer those above the age of 10, but it's perfect if you have children. There's always really friendly Lands End/J-Crew moms or grandmothers hanging out watching their kids around the park (which has two separate playground equipments located adjacent to each other across a sidewalk.)Before winter, I suggest checking out this space in Kansas City, NEVER crowded or dirty, because it's Prairie Village, KS - the wannabe perfect town, USA.
