They say The Buck Stops Here, well, I stopped there. I happen to be a woman, and loved the merchandise in this store. It was so refined. I knew they carried Retro51 ball points. I about had a pengasm right there. But the Stetson hats were gorgeous as well. There's wallets (manly looking, but very finely crafted), money clips, and beautiful wooden containers to put on your dresser, holding your belongings. Part of the store has political bobbleheads...I want one so bad. Wonderful political paraphernalia that I loved so much. There's not many stores that catch my eye on Independence Square. This one, I'll return to, if just for the pens and bobbleheads. It will probably be a Saturday after I'm paid, cause I could easily spend quite a bit in this store. The employee was very kind and helpful, and Credence Clearwater Revival played on the stereo. It's an amazing store, and not just for men.

This shop deserves a lot of credit. This is the kind of place you don't really see. When I had last visited I remember all the selections of hats and classic memorabilia. It was super cool to somewhat step into a time machine and visit such a past, pure Americana. This is the kind of place where a boy can become a man. You can find a lot of vintage looking "things" and simply stroll around. I have to say the best part for me was the couches, you can sit in and relax a bit. And if I remember correctly Mr. Truman himself had gotten his first job at the spot next door when he was just a little boy. Remarkable location, a great way to honor someone and seriously, a beautifully crafted shop.

Being here only for just under a year Independence was where we go to Costco or Bass Pro but I had no idea how charming the town square was. If you read The Art of Manliness blog than you have a good idea of what the inventory is in this little gem of a storefront. The clerk was a kind and helpful conversationalist and I can't wait to go back and bring since cash, although I believe they accept all forms:)

Its hard finding a gift store tailored just for men. I know of only one other I know of is Diebel's on the Plaza, which stocks the same stuff over and over again - never changes. I heard about Wild about Harry's and decided to pop in and look for a gift for my dad's 60th birthday. I was thoroughly impressed by their wide selection of men's gifts. I was immediately greeted by Kevin who manages the shop who then worked with me to find the perfect gift. They have a nice selection of hats which I kept trying on (I'm not a hat person, but I couldn't resist). They also carry a really nice line of razors and shaving accessories which you don't see in many other stores. I always wanted a safety razor (heard they were a terrific shave and, nastalgic, duh) but I was always anxious to buy one over the internet not knowing what it would feel like in my hand. Kevin sold me on a travel safety razor, shave cream and badger shave brush (gifts for me of course). They had a whole section dedicated to spirits which is pretty typical of men's gifts. They had whiskey stones (which I need) and cool flasks (which I want), tumblers and decanters - you name it. I picked up a set of whiskey stones for my dad (he loves them). They've also got a ton of office and home decorations which I need to balance out what my wife is passing off as decorations. They had a huge bust of Teddy Roosevelt that I've got to go back for. They just started carrying Xicar cigar stuff which I was happy about because my dad was in the market for a new punch. In the end I picked up the shaving stuff (for me), whiskey stones, a cigar punch and lighter with fuel. It was all pretty reasonably priced for what I walked away with. Overall I was impressed with what Wild About Harry had to offer. Not something you would expect from the Independence Square. I'm going back soon. Thanks Kevin!
