Westport Cafe is a gem in Wesport and in Kansas City in general. Owned by three French guys, they have captured the French bistro atmosphere and food down to the smallest details.I've been to Westport Cafe for brunch and dinner a few times now and I'm always impressed by the quality of the food. Tuesday is steak night where you get steak with béarnaise sauce for $20 with bottomless fries aka frites. Basically steak frites and honestly it is as simple as that. They execute it immaculately and they are one of the only places I know that do steak frites in the city. Their brunch menu is also fantastic and those lemon ricotta pancakes are a star on it. Service has always been friendly and accommodating whenever I've gone. Plus they do cool collaborations with other restaurants and change their menu to highlight new cuisines and dishes. A top tier restaurant for sure in the metro. Happy eating and remember: Don't deny, satisfy!

My friend from LA was visiting, and after 13 years since we last saw each other, we decided to hit up Westport Café for a Sunday brunch catch-up. The vibe was exactly what we needed--chill, laid-back, and unhurried. The service was friendly, and they didn't rush us at all, which was perfect because, honestly, we had a lot to catch up on.We started with the mussels, and they did not disappoint. They came in this creamy, rich broth that was just begging for bread-dipping action. Then, we moved on to the pancake--fluffy and golden, with whipped cream and syrup drizzled on top. It was a total comfort food moment.Next came the croissant sandwich, loaded with scrambled eggs and crispy bacon. The layers were perfectly flaky, and it was just the right amount of savory. We wrapped things up with the eggs Norwegian with smoked salmon, topped with this dreamy hollandaise sauce that made every bite ridiculously good.Overall, Westport Café was the perfect spot for a long, lazy brunch with an old friend. Great food, friendly service, and a vibe that just lets you sit back and enjoy. Definitely coming back!

Wow! I have passed by this place for years and never bothered to come in but man am I happy I did! What a dining experience. The staff is very attentive and to me was like a fine dining experience. Everything had great flavor. The restaurant was small but cute with lots of personality. I came during happy hour with friends. We started with the bread service which was a French ciabatta with their special butter. The bread had such a unique taste. Loved the flavors. We all had the house salad which is the arugula salad, on it had lemon and truffle vinaigrette, radishes and grana padano . We also got the barbajuan ravioli which is their house made fried ravioli stuffed with leeks, spinach, Comte, Parmesan and ricotta and there was a dipping sauce with it. The summer risotto was very flavorful and had basil pesto, carrots, cherry tomatoes, almond, red onion and Kirby pickles. You can add scallops but we did not. I ordered the crab and lobster roll and I was very satisfied. I am from the east coast and I know my lobster. I had recently stood in line for 3 hours to have cousins Maine lobster roll and it doesn't come close to this. What a succulent juicy roll. It's a nice size and the amount of crab and lobster was satisfying. I ordered truffle fries to go with it.We also ordered the steak frites and that had great flavor too. We added the steak au poivre for $6 and the steak was cooked perfectly. I was so happy with my service I returned a week later and had brunch here. My advice to you is make a reservation because it is a popular place to have brunch. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich which had scrambled eggs inside but they were scrambled eggs that were so perfect, I've never had any like this before. The sandwich also had bacon, chimichuri mayo, I took off the cheese because I should not eat it and I got truffle fries on the side. I also ordered an espresso martini, it was a little bitter in my opinion but other than that. My dinner experience and my lunch experience was sooo amazing! I will be back!Brunch Tik Tok:https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP88NXATA/Dinner Tik Tok:https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP88N4Mgv/

I would 100% recommend Westport Cafe, especially during Happy Hour from 4-6 daily. I had a glass of a rose, my husband had a Stella, and we split oysters, frites and fried ravioli. All for less than $50 and it wasplenty of food to make us feel full. The service was great and the inside was cozy - made me feel like I was in a French cafe on vacation. Loved it.

First time in here for restaurant week and it was great! The place is cool, it's small and intimate but you can hear yourself think which is nice. Our waiter was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and helpful. On Tuesdays they have a special on the steak frites so I did that and it was really good. The truffle fries are excellent. To end the night I had the affogato which tasted good, but I would have preferred it come in a different bowl; it was hard to eat out of the globe it was in. Only four stars because our waiter was at our table literally every five minutes refilling our water which made us insane. We had a jug at the table to do it ourselves but he just kept coming, even when no one's cup was half empty.

There's a reason this place has 4.3 stars with 468 reviews (as of the writing of this review). What a great Westport little gem it is. Had the opportunity to enjoy a great dining experience with co-workers. It's a bit nondescript from the outside but as soon as you walk in you're greeted by a very cool bar loaded with goodness and a bartender hard at work serving up delicious concoctions. We were quickly greeted, seated and our waiter was in crazy attentive throughout our time. The food was absolutely on point. Every plate was flavorful and their Happy Hour menu is quite robust. Some of the fav apps were the focaccia, lamb skewers the cheese plate. Main plates that stood out were the Steak Frites, Smashed Burger, and Halibut. There was also a Gnocchi Chefs Special plate that was described as small delicious pillows..how can one go wrong. And now the bestest part - cocktails! The Copper Rabbit is by far the best of the event. Closely followed by the Amaro Mai Tai. Overall a classy eclectic local joint with a chill vibe doing its thing and doing it well. Well played West Cafe. I'll be back..

If you want a Kansas City classic, go here! This place has been around for ages and will always be one of the best spots. You walk in through the heavy velvet curtain and are immediately transported to France. The music the ambiance the smells... it's all picture perfect. The staff is attentive and efficient. The menu is consistent and always delicious. Their cocktails are fun and boozy. A great weekend brunch spot as well!

Reliable bistro fare, if you can find a seat. The steak frites are all they should be. Love the ambience, and sitting at the bar or in back gives you old movies to watch! Such a relief from sports on the screen. Tends to be noisy, and parking challenges (plus the general scuzziness of Westport) makes us go less often than we would otherwise. Wish it were located elsewhere.
