West Lake Chinese Restaurant

Very good food, service, and price. I mostly go for the buffet, which if I remember correctly ends at 3pm. There's a fair amount to choose from and it's all pretty good! I believe this is the only buffet in Smithville, so if you're extra hungry give them a try!

I'm a little torn leaving a review, but with that being said, I'd like to share my experience. I've been eating at West Lake for a few years now. I've never had an issue, and I always thought the food was great. About a week ago, I placed an order online to be ready in 25 minutes. By the time I got in my car and started heading that way to pick it up, it was sleeting and the roads hadn't been treated. The roads were slick to say the least. After passing by two accidents within half a mile from my house, I decided the safest option was to turn around and head back home. Because even Chinese food wasn't worth risking my life.I called the restaurant explaining the problem and that I wouldn't be able to pick up, and wow was that a mistake. I'd like to make it clear that I understand that my order was already made and it's no longer their problem. The owner on the phone (whom I've interacted with multiple times) was beyond rude. I explained why I couldn't come in and I offered for them to just keep my money since I understood it wasn't their fault. After cutting me off multiple times, she hung up on me. I was obviously charged (again I understand they have to do what they have to do), but I've never felt so belittled by a restaurant, especially one I've supported for years. Needless to say, I will not be giving them my support any longer.

I ordered chicken lo mein and the chicken was absolute mush. Husband combination fried rice tasted old also.

This is one small buffet.I feel the food he cooked is very delicious.The food is very fresh.The price is not expensive.I like him

Updating my post. I know I said I'd never come back but this place is my childhood Chinese restaurant. Today we came in at an odd hour and he food wasn't totally fresh well they asked what we liked and made it ll fresh for us and even brought out a fresh plate to our table of coconut shrimp. I would have to say they went above and beyond today!

not to bad for your small town buffet, the only thing i wish there salad bar was a little better but other then that not to bad.

My absolute favorite for Chinese food in Smithvill, Mo!! I've been coming here for years! It's delicious!

Affordable and honestly can't beat the lunch special. Go here frequently and never had issues.

We ate at their buffet. The food was hot, well stocked, and tasted very good. There was also a small dessert buffet with ice cream that reminded me of my grandma's homemade soft serve! The staff were very friendly, and did a great job of checking on you for drink refills, empty plates or anything else, yet were not annoying about it and we did not feel rushed. I thought the price was very reasonable.
