Watkins "C" Ranch

A horseback ranch in the middle of the city - definitely was surprised when I made a turn in the middle of businesses and homes - and I ended up at a country ranch.Now this ranch is more than just Horseback Riding, they offer date nights, which is where you and your partner(or a few friends) take a ride around the ranch on the horses and end the night eating a candlelight dinner outside. They even attempt to cater to you when it comes to drink and/or alcohol beforehand.When we went, it was getting darker than normal, and close to pitch black by the end of the ride - they admitted they'd probably have to move the dinner nights earlier to compensate for the next date nights. Also don't rely on being able to obtain your group pictures - as we never saw ours get uploaded.But these friends who are turning this ranch, which has been passed down from family, into something new and different - are doing an amazing job.If you love horses or just being outside - and looking for a date night that is isn't your average Saturday, be sure to give Watkins Ranch a call.

The family wanted to ride horses. They actually wanted to ride horses. Whew. Well thankfully there's a ranch right by us where you can do that. So check it. They brought the horses out and let the kids choose the horses. I like that because it was very interactive with them. Then they thoroughly went over instructions on how to ride & direct the horses. You can see the level of care that they have for the horses but also for the safety of the riders. I appreciated that so much. My kiddos are ready to go again! They loved it.

The ride was wonderful and the people are very nice. I love that the kids are so involved. However, we had ten people and did not know we couldn't all ride at one time. Our group had to be split, which wasn't the same for us. Also dinner was not the dinner I expected. It was two or three small tacos and no drink. To be fair, someone did ask for water and they did give her a bottle, but she had to ask.

I have read and understand the 5-star reviews this place has received, but I highly recommend you read mine. When meeting Tonya, she talked a good game by over-promising however in the end she underdelivered on those promises. We never signed a contract for the 12 private lessons at 300$. From the start, I told her I had one year to get these lessons complete. She assured me it wouldn't be a problem. Due to weather, sickness, and her family, I was only able to get 5 of the 12 lessons for my daughter. As I was getting ready to move, I reached a point of dissatisfaction and requested a refund. At this point, Tonya became accommodating and victimized herself as always trying to help when I do not feel like that was ever the case. She claims I did not show up to lessons but that is not true either. When I held her accountable to her word of a refund, she became evasive, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I had to use a local phone to contact her and that is when her emotional outbursts demonstrated her lack of professionalism and empathy for my special needs daughter. She expected me to forgive 7 of the 12 lessons because of her personal challenges and lack of delivery of lessons. When pressed, she threatened me with an attorney and to never contact her again. Her comments on my Venmo demonstrated a new side of her that most if not all, these 5-star reviews have not seen. Keep in mind, I did not sign a contract nor did she give me any documentation for make-up lessons or a schedule. I am almost certain, she will gaslight this review and victimize herself to make me appear as the wrongdoer. P.S. I did receive a refund after waiting 3.5 weeks and multiple attempts. I was trying to find healthy ways to relax and unplug from life and little bit, and Watkins "C" Ranch was just what I needed. The people that work there care so much about the animals, and are so patient with new riders such as myself. I felt so comfortable and connected with nature, and found myself literally giggling as we rode through the amazing wooded trail. This place is officially part of my self-care routine, and it's right here in the city! 5 stars!
