For some odd reason, I like the Wahlberg bunch. So much so that I wanted to try this little joint. I had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time so when a friend suggested it and I was more than happy to accept the offer. This restaurant is tucked away inside a big Hy-Vee store. It's easy enough to find but you kinda have to know where you are going. There are plenty of booths and tables and the atmosphere is very nice, clean and well lit. It is an inviting space and very comfortable. The tricky thing is there is not much direction. My friend and I got a booth and we waited to anyone taking orders or serving. Nope, not so much. This is the type of place where you order at the counter and that is fine. I just wished there was signage or something to let people know. There were two guys behind the counter. One was prepping and one was cooking. They were very nice and helpful. We explained that we had never been here before and we asked for their suggestions. They had sampled nearly everything on the menu and that helped us a great deal. I got the supermelt and it was delicious. Yummy cheeses, carmelized onions, thick beef patties and mustard. Delicious. My friend got the fiesta burger and he said it was very good. We ordered a side of onion rings and they were DIVINE. I liked the onion rings much more than the fries. The counter guys were great and wanted to know how we wanted our burgers, what did we want to add. They made sure we were taken care of while we where there.It was Mother's Day so parking was a challenge but, generally, this is not a problem. Easy access and friendly staff. I just wish there were more signs telling people where to go and what to do. Even a table tent would help out. Bottom line: I'll be back!

We went there last night for dinner. The previous restaurant at that location in the Hy-Vee was a full service restaurant with a full bar. A Yelp review of the Wahlburger said it too offers full service. Perhaps it originally did, but not now. When no one came to our table to take our order, I walked up to the bar to ask about service. He told me that there is none at all. Although the restaurant does still have a bar, there is no table service at all.The restaurant operates as a fast food restaurant. You have to go to a counter inside the supermarket to place your order. You pay there, and then you bring the food to your table yourself.At the bar inside the restaurant, I asked if he could provide us with wine. It was a Saturday night, and we wanted wine with our dinner. He said the one and only bartender had called in sick. The guy behind the counter said he could serve us beer, but not wine. I don't understand why they need a bartender to serve wine, but not beer. We left for another restaurant located in the same parking lot.I was looking forward to Wahlburger and was very disappointed. The family that founded the chain is from Dorchester, a suburb of Boston. I too am originally from Dorchester and was looking forward to trying a restaurant having that origin. Also a member of that family is a famous movie star. Some of the salads on the menu sound interesting. Perhaps I will try it one day for lunch.

First time I've had one of these cheeseburgers. Really, Really, Really good burger and fries. They even asked how I'd like it cooked and they brought it to my table. The food was hot and delicious. The kid that took my order was polite and well trained.

Ok I must be late in coming here cause people have been talking about wahlburgers for a while, however I am surprised that no reviews have been done yet...or it simply could be that there are multiple listings for this location and I picked the non visited list... whatever the case is, I'll just share my experience. OK first of all this location is inside of a grocery store which used to be the former Hy-Vee market and grill. Knowing that kind of makes me think that the low status that I have given it has more to do with the fact that probably the same workers that were working the market and grill, are the same people that are working Wahlburgers. I mean that Hass to be the reason that I can give it because I was expecting high expectations based on other peoples reviews of other locations that weren't in a grocery store. People were saying their food was wonderful so I'm thinking well if it has the Waldburger name it's going to be good. I should've known that something was wrong when I came inside the place and it wasn't packed matter fact it was hardly any people there.The girl who took my order was very friendly but two of the male workers back in the kitchen we're having a very personal inappropriate conversation that was being loudly expressed where customers could hear it. So much so to the fact that when I looked back there, the girl who was taking my order looked at me and said "oh I don't listen to what they talk about I have no idea what they're talking about. " She went on to say , "I just have to close my ears to stuff they talk about" I stood there and never really responded but said to myself "but I shouldn't have to hear it." The total of my order came to almost $25 and all I got out of it was a thing of thin onion rings and a barbecue bacon burger that had no condiments and I wasn't offered any. Well that's just goes to show that you can't go off of other peoples reviews you have to go off of your own experience and as far as I'm concerned there is a lot of "Whah, whah, whah"in Wahlburgers...the beef is too steep and taste too cheap to me.

The worse food I can ever remember paying for. Ordered the Thanksgiving burger, the bun was toasted and cold, the Turkey burger tasted old, and the entire sandwich was cold, ordered onion rings and got onion strings, pure grease, and as an added bonus, I got a hair, never go again or recommend.

I was super excited about Wahlburgers coming to Lawrence. I really wanted to like it and I was excited that it's close to home as it had a good reputation. Unfortunately, the service is consistently underwhelming. It's never busy there but once you get seated it's hard to get your server back to your table. They leave items off of your order and you have to get up to go get them to get your check. A few months ago, we had ordered fries to go with our burgers. Initially, the server came back and said because they were short staffed they were out of fries. We said fine, no problem. Then she comes back and says they do have fries. We got our burgers; and 15 minutes later we still do not have the fries. We finally got up to go ask for our check and explain that we never received the fries. The server acted as if we were the problem. Today we went back to have breakfast. My husband ordered toast with his breakfast. He never received his toast. He asked if they had any salsa. The server eventually brought him back some kind of liquid in a little cup. He asked for ketchup and had to go find that himself. He found a bottle on another table so he just picked it up and brought it back to our table. Again, we had to go hunt down our server to get our ticket to pay and leave. My husband told our server that we never received the toast, she acted like she was doing us a favor by taking it off the ticket. I really wanted to like this restaurant but every time we have been in the service has been terrible.

We'd seen this place multiple times while shopping at HyVee and yesterday decided to give it a try for lunch. Yuck! Just wasn't even edible. I ordered my burger medium well but it arrived rare! So rare that it was just barely warm. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on the cooking but what little bit I tried to eat just wasn't good. My wife got the "Sloppy Joe" and it arrived with the same story, wasn't edible. We didn't send it back, just ate what we could, learned our lesson, and left. We won't go back. And, oh, her Sloppy Joe, my hamburger, and two glasses of water were $27.00!When a restaurant is empty, there's a reason.A note to HyVee .... This place is taking down your fine reputation!

Ordered a jalapeño burger, medium rare, with rings and a drink. $19.11?! This isn't Manhattan! Waited 18 minutes for my food. Wednesday afternoon at 12:53, not a single burger on the grill when I ordered. Burger was brought out without any jalapeños on it. 1 of 3 ingredients! Had to go back up to counter and ask for them. 5 mins later I received the jalapeños to put on my now cold burger. Not a fan. I do not recommend. Customer service sucks, food sucks, prices suck.
