Veracruz Mexican Restaurant

You are going to read reviews for this restaurant that say concerning things about the cheese dip - that it's "cold" "oddly sweet" and that it "tastes like miracle whip". Well, as a self proclaimed queso connoisseur, I'm here to set the record straight. The substance you see on the right in the black dish is NOT queso. It is cold, thick, and sweet (and tasty!) but it is not queso and is not called queso. It comes out with the other salsa and chips when you sit down. Reading the reviews, I was worried, but then it hit me: I've never been given free queso at a Mexican restaurant before, so why now? I ordered the queso on the menu, and lo and behold, the red dish is delivered to me. It IS queso. It tastes like queso. It has a great flavor, is just the right viscosity, mixes well with the rice. I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and had a very lovely meal with perfectly good queso. They definitely didn't hold back with the shrimp, and they were cooked perfectly. The meal was excellent and so was my service! My waiter was softspoken and very attentive, which was a wonderful change after spending my day with a room full of high schoolers. The takeaway: Veracruz in Versailles, Missouri has good queso. Do not trust the naysayers. Order the queso.

They have average Mexican food here good chips and salsa. I gave them a three star because some of their waiters have an attitude but their food is OK.

Went their today and had the best lunch you could get. I had a Chili Relleno a Taco Rice and Beans. The service was great even though they were very busy. It is a nice place to go after work and just relax it is children friendly. It's right at 5 and 52. And it's not expensive for what you get. And for people restroom friendly they are always clean.

There are not a lot of options in Versailles so happy this is an option. It's hit or miss on the quality and service. Asked for green sauce and they brought out red, food overall was okay. Sadly they no longer offer a military discount and often close randomly.

So consistent in food and services. One of my favorites here in Versailles, Stover and Lincoln.

My favorite Mexican dishes are here at VeraCruz! The team & cooks are polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Best place to take friends for margs and tacos any night!

The service was amazing, the food was very good, the ambiance wasgreat. Family owned, (opened 3 restaurants in 14 years)(. very affordable. I will be stopping in either on my way to the lake, or going home. Loved it !!!!! Brush up on your Spanish; Very Authentic.

To Hattie B, the expert. What is this? I ordered a side of guacamole. The server brought this soupy green stuff. We tried it. Four of us at the table. No one had ever seen this in a Mexican restaurant located in the US. The image was taken after 4 tries on chips. All agreed: not desirable. To the restaurant's credit the charge was removed (with an attitude). The cashier said it had something to do with keeping the guac from turning color. To us, that meant the stuff wasn't fresh. Since this was a repeat visit from occasions over several years, the food was about as expected. The reason I posted had to do with the cashier's attitude. By the way, we always liked the white sauce.

We had dinner here for the first time last night. I am normally not a fan of "authentic" Mexican food because what I have had in the past I have always thought was bland. This place surprised me and blew me away. The food was absolutely delicious & the salsa was amazing. Portion sizes were huge. I did not care for the white dip that tasted like mayonnaise but I loved everything else. The server was friendly & helpful. Will definitely be back.

Disgusting. The waiter delivered Food to the wrong people. He told us we should have paid more attention it was our fault. Then when we ask for a refill He absolutely would ignore us. The restaurant was not busy at the time. We had just come from a funeral. We were all kind to him but he Continued to berate us, When he asked us what number on the menu that we ordered. We just told him what we ordered. We didn't know there was a number. He went on to say we were not paying attention, He said it rudely to more than one person in our group. Then he served the wrong food to somebody. And they were going to eat it anyway. And not complain after that. So while they were eating, he grabs the plate. And said you're eating someone else's food loudly.... Never in my life. Have I experienced such a hateful bunch? Go to the Pioneer restaurant instead.
