Varsity Club

Varsity Club has been the perfect addition to River Market. Dimly-lit, intimate, and swanky, Varsity Club is the perfect cocktail spot (open late!) to grab drinks with friends. It's cave-like inside with rock/brick walls, and it gets loud in there, so you're not going to have the best conversation of your life, but it's the perfect fun bar atmosphere. The space inside is small -- it was full by 5:45 pm on a Friday night. Order at the bar in the back, or order from one of the employees roaming around with an iPad. Varsity Club has a lovely cocktail menu (including NA options). Great happy hour deals. The bangarang and the spaghett are delicious and refreshing. They also have a small patio with the Disco Burger truck. A burger, fries, and a delicious cocktail -- what more could you ask for? Parking in River Market can be challenging. Located by the City Market park, so it's centrally located between paid street parking and City Market parking. I'm lucky to have Varsity Club as a walkable neighborhood bar.

Varsity Club Cocktail Bar is exactly what the River Market needed, and the crowds show it! The interior design is expertly crafted; it feels like stepping into a stylish cave--upscale yet casual enough that you can relax without feeling out of place.The patio is a gem, situated right on the edge of the park, and it's perfect for enjoying a meal from the delicious Discoburger food truck. You can easily order on your phone for pickup, which makes the experience even smoother. I highly recommend the Bangarang with whiskey, but the signature cocktail can be made with any liquor you prefer!The staff is hard-working and incredibly kind, making sure you feel welcome throughout your visit. Don't miss their Monday deal--20% off is a fantastic way to start the week right! Overall, Varsity Club is a must-visit spot that brings great vibes and even better drinks to the River Market!

Burger and drinks, small inside, good sized patio. You order at the bar. Mondays are 20% off, the bartender was friendly. You get food outside at the truck. Cute interior.I will definitely come back!

This was my first time at Varsity Club. I really enjoyed my time there. One of the owners came and talked with our group.While I personally don't partake in a. Alcoholic beverage the NA drink I had was fantastic. It was called the Bangarang. You can also get it with your spirit of choice. Others in my party did have drinks and I heard no complaints.You also have the option to order food from the food truck on the outside patio. Everyone's food looked delicious and there was nothing left behind. It's a great place to link up with finds for a drink after work, we were there on a Monday night and while not packed, there was still a decent crowd.

I had no idea this place existed but I was in the area and Yelp directed me to their door. It's located not too far from City Market-definitely within walking distance. They have a good sized outdoor patio area that would be lovely to sit at on a nice day. The inside is a not huge but it's not terribly small either. There's tables and even bar seating. The staff were all friendly and attentive. You can also order food from Disco Burger. They have a van outside where you can place an order or you can order from one of the handy QR codes inside and out. Highly recommend! They offer a wide range of cocktails and a few beer options. I went with a Moneygun: Irish whiskey, apple brandy, brown sugar, and Granny Smith apple. I felt like at $15 a pop the cocktails would be a little more garnished up. Mine was pretty simple but it was tasty and quite large. Also, on Monday they offer 20% so that's a nice perk and definitely a great reason to stroll down there. I like having another great option in the River Market to grab some good drinks and food. I definitely recommend it and will return.

Not sure if to post this here or Disco Burger but same same. New dive bar in City Market partnered with Disco Burger. The bar is first come first serve, so come early as it gets busy on the weekends. Bar menu is nice mix of house cocktails, beers and nonalcoholic beverages. From the menu there is QR code in which you order food from. You'll have to step outside to get food and bring it in. Drinks were great. Had a Negroni, my personal favorite, and my equalizer amongst comparing bars. Also had the margarita and dang was that strong! In regards to food of course I had the double smash burger and fries. Pretty typical of smash burger- American cheese, onions, pickles and their special disco sauce. Nothing revolutionary but still very tasty. I imagine it's impeccable with a few more drinks in you. Vibe is on point. Classic dive bar with no frills but at same time feels cozy. Great indie synth music playing to finish it off. Final review: 4.5/5 stars. Pretty nice addition to the burger and bar scene in KC. Would be great place to watch game, or maybe afterwards for a bite to eat. Even better can hop right on the streetcar to get yourself safely home.

Cool and sleek hipster bar in the river market. I had a great time enjoying the casual but upscale vibe while enjoying a drink and a burger. I tried the spaghetti drink. It was a mix of Miller high life, Aperol, and Lemon. It was light, fresh, and tasty. I especially enjoyed the burger truck on the patio as well.

This is a fun new spot to stop for drinks in the river market. The atmosphere is so fun and it would be a fun spot to start or end your night with friends. The drinks were yummy and they had some fun spins on some classics!

This charming little hideaway is tucked away from the bustling pedestrian side of the street, providing a cozy, lounge-like atmosphere along with a solid selection of beers and drinks. It's a great spot for a first date or for winding down with a nightcap at the end of the night. While it can get busy and the service may be a bit slow at times, I don't hold that against them. If you find yourself hungry, Disco Burger in the back has delicious options to satisfy your cravings. Plus, the restrooms are clean, which is always a nice bonus!

Our drinks were awesome, love the indoor/outdoor seating! They do keep capacity limits, so we did have to wait a couple minutes to go in. Cosmo Burger truck closes around 10 so we weren't able to try it this visit. Really neat esthetic and lighting-- great for a date in River Market! Entrance is on the side/back of the building and parking is the standard difficulty of the River Market area :)
