Beautiful facility. I don't attend church here, I attend events when there's guest speakers and such. Unity of Overland Park is located on Antioch and 103rd street. It has a large parking lot, and is a nice sized church. The bookstore is one of the first things you see when entering, after walking across the large entrance. The bookstore is beautiful, with not only religious books but metaphysical, and self help books, as well as crystals, and healing tools, pendulums, jewelry, gifts. The staff is helpful and know their products. In the church itself, are several large "Sunday School" rooms, that are used for meetings during non church times. The large reiki group meets here 2 Mondays a month. On the next day, there may be a Buddahist gathering, that's how Unity Church is.The sanctuary is medium sized, bright even at night. The pews are light colored wood. Padded. The sound is sufficient for speakers, or even quiet activities like Shamanic drumming groups. The stage area has 4 steps, and a bright light. The speakers always complain about the bright light, but it makes them look good. I can see this used for weddings in the summer. The yellow tones would be a beautiful backdrop. There's alot of metaphysical events that take place here. An entire calendar is on their website. I appreciate Unity as they are not a "holier than thou" church. I really like this location.

The people are fake, they do nothing for you unless you are able to give to the church and I mean money, they will take service for a while but then it's money or get out. Some church hugh?

I had my wedding here and I give this place two stars because of the woman that was supposedly the "wedding coordinator" as well as this place is extremely over priced for a wedding. The only reason this place deserves two stars instead of one is because the wonderful pastor who married my husband and I. He was respectful and amazing to work with. The church was big and beautiful as well as the reception area downstairs. The lighting in the reception area was a bit neon looking and harsh for pictures but still a nice area. The woman who was the coordinator which came with the package lied about set up and clean up when first going to see the church. She said all of it would be taken care of. What she really meant was we will put tables out and throw away what you leave behind. She made it sound like decorating and tearing down and keeping what I want and throwing away what I don't and then going to pick it up later is how it would go. But no... she said later only tables and chairs will be put out... she was rude and unprofessional. Half the time she never called me or texted me back. She was unorganized and if anything seemed hard she just didn't want to do it. She was rude when talking to my mother and my autistic sister (maid of honor) just not a good woman to work with. She didn't coordinate anything. I had to continuously call her about everything she never got with me. Awful experience with this lady and I highly suggest not choosing this for an event simply because of HER!!! It felt like everything was off limits. We asked if we could use there big coffee maker but she said no we had to use the tiny old as cap coffee pot.... and I was having 150 people come to my wedding I was like seriously?! Just awful lady. Don't do it!!! Other places are WAAAYYYY cheaper this place was extremely overpriced for what you actually get.

Everyone was really kind when I went. But there's a small group that meets & a larger group on different sides of the location listed & I didn't know this at first. But I had an odd feeling. Everyone was really surprised they had good reviews, none of the people on the site were in the room where I attended, and the amount of times discipline was used made me feel a little thrown off, not the biggest red flags but I just had a weird feeling in my gut. So I looked up Kansas City International Christian Church which is what this church had a whole presentation on being apart of & it's founded by the same man that founded International Church of Christ, Thomas "Kip" McKean & this made me have some MAJOR concerns (look this up). Not to mention all reviews for this church are no recent than 2020 & the Facebook page for Kansas City international Christian church has 5 reviews with 3 talking about money & bitcoin which is odd to me. Too many red flags & I just didn't feel comfortable but the small group I met was kind my first visit.

I haven't been here in years, so I'm really only writing this as a form of catharsis. People are lured in with the idea that this is a "non-denominational" branch of Christianity. That's not exactly true. Basically, it is a New Age rendition of Christianity that believes in the "Christ consciousness" found in inspired individuals such as Jesus Christ and Buddha. Unity teaches that potential is in everyone, but it does a poor job of actually delivering on that message (or at least it did when I was young). The church doesn't believe in hell but I thought a heaven I had to share with the teachers I had in Sunday school would be more than hell enough. It was about a year after this experience when my severe anxiety symptoms started developing. I needed therapy in fourth grade to help me figure out why I hated myself so much, and the therapist was at a complete loss. It was only recently that I started to realize that shame over consistently getting in trouble in my Sunday school classes was still sticking to me like a malignant, toxic sludge all those years. My experience here was bad. I was in trouble on my first day of Sunday school for reasons I don't think I'll ever know. I was afraid of my teacher, which in my opinion should never happen in a church that claims to be so open and accepting. I remember on one occasion being given one minute to meditate to find out whether or not God has anything to say to you. As an eight-year-old, not hearing God's voice in one minute and hearing praise given to those who did was awfully disheartening. "God has nothing to say to you" is not much of a take-home message. I also was scolded for not having enough faith or trust and disappointing Jesus when I wouldn't accept being blind-folded and led around the church by an eight-year-old. Trust and faith are great, but making a child believe they're letting Jesus down if they don't want to be blindfolded seems a little extreme to me. I can't say everything I want to here, but there is no real accountability for leaders when they cause harm to others. Children aren't listened to. Expecting trust while doing nothing to earn it and shaming those who don't have it is not a sign of an excellent and healthy religious program in my mind. I hope this place has changed since I was there, because I don't want other people to be put through what I was. I was blamed for some things that were not my fault and things were allowed to happen that should not have happened. If you are one of the people who was involved in this, you know who you are and what you did. Shame on all of you. I did nothing wrong. This church wronged me, and I'm writing this review to say you don't have the power to make me hate myself any longer.

This church is great in helping individuals find their own spiritual path. Very open and accepting of all faiths and those who might not have any faith. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. The UCOP band and professional singers are exceptional, and along with Reverend Brandon's thought provoking and well delivered sermons, they make attending Sunday services very fulfilling and well worth the time spent.
