Union Street Social

I tried Union Street Social for the first time last month and now I've been three times. It's nice to have a more upscale dining experience in Emporia. I have had the steak frites twice and the Southwest steak salad on the third visit. The food was good all three times. I also ordered the Bourbon Renewal from their cocktail menu which was also really good. I'm looking forward to returning again.

This place is a GEM in Emporia! Wow, are the folks who live here lucky to have it!Our friend is a professor at ESU and he introduced us to this place before a musical on campus. My wife and I both ordered the chicken fried steak special that night. It was hand breaded and simply divine!! More food than either of us could eat. We should have shared. I also had the chili, which was delicious. We enjoy the Brussels sprouts appetizer at our friend's suggestion. The service was quick, polite and professional. 5 stars! We can't wait to come back!

The Buddha bowl with steak was extraordinary!! The steak was super tender and cooked perfectly (I requested medium rare and they delivered). There were a lot of different textures and flavors in the bowl which they paired well together. Prior to arriving, I had read the reviews on Google and expected the meal to be good. I am glad it exceeded my expectations.The service was decent. It took some time for them to take our order and it took some time for them to notice that we wanted to pay.

Really great food, fun welcoming atmosphere. Service was extraordinarily slow, however.

Stopped on the way home toKansas City. We had a wonderful dinner. I had the Steak and Blue salad and my friend had a 4 oz Strip steak and shareable Brussels sprouts (the portion was enough for 4). We both had Creme Brule for desert.All dishes were delicious and well presented. The desert was excellent. Our server was delightful and very attentive. She had an endearing personality.The ambiance was very eclectic. There were a variety of table and chair styles. The conversation area was inviting with comfortable looking sofas and chairs facing a fireplace. Would definitely stop by again when close by and recommend to others.

In from out of town & stopped in w/ a friend who is local. This place is unassuming from the outside. However, the interior is very swank yet inviting. Service was great. No complaints there. Ordered a Negroni & wife had a glass of wine. The cocktail was spot on. Then came our dinner. I had the trout over corn leek puree. The pomegranate salsa & hot honey butter was a welcome surprise. Wife ordered the steak frites. She said it was very good & I can attest that the truffle fries were good as well. Overall, if you're in or near Emporia, KS and looking for a nice / upscale dinner, this is your place.
