U Genes Deli and Pizza

Very weird first time experience. I walk in and two girls are just staring at me from behind the counter and didn't greet me or ask if they can help. They kept licking a popsicle, looking and just wouldn't say anything. Thought this was one of those scary movie moments. So, I just looked right back at them and walked out. Horrible service or lack thereof. Not sure what their problem was, I'm sure they've seen Black people before because there were a lot of us around the area. It was a really creepy experience and their salads looked a week old. I went across the street to Air World Deli. At least the guy preparing the food was friendly. I've gotta say, there are absolutely no places to eat around the airport. Thank God I'm flying out in the morning!!!

The business is settled in splitting property with a gas station. Its down the street from the KCI and a strip of several hotels. There are four tables for four and a row of seats facing the two window walls. It seems like a family owned establishment close knit and friendly staff. We ordered the large bbq bacon chicken cheddar pizza, peaches for one boy, coleslaw for momma, and a Rueben for the Aunt. The coleslaw was just perfect for me. It was sweet and seasoned well for my likings. The pizza was delicious and adequately sized for the cost. The bbq had a sweetness to it that balanced out with the bacon and cheddar. I would definitely get again. Enough for everyone (family of four) to get two nice sized slices.

Great service and very convenient to hotel and airport. Delicious smells, and food was excellent.

Very good pizza. It is a New York style pizza. For me, this is the best pizza I've had so far on the North side of KC. I appreciate the quality of cheese and pepperoni. Go try it!

Okay so I looked for a place to eat near by my hotel and saw this Italian joint, the staff is friendly but man the food is so nasty. It's bland, lacks so much flavor and it isn't very visually appealing. My pizza was burnt on the crust and my sub like the pizza was extremely bland.

I typically don't review places until I've been there a couple of times but I probably won't be back here. That's not a negative thing, it's a situational thing.So picture it, the mini ice storm of December 2019. I was at a hotel close to here while waiting for my daughter to fly out to Spain. Planes slid off of the runway, flights were cancelled, I was stuck with her. *THE HORROR*\Anyway, this lil joint was right close to our hotel and was open. I think they were slammed with orders. They had just gotten a new pizza oven. It wasn't user friendly. I hated it for them. *insert sad face*So I have this issue with fennel seeds in Italian sausage. I know, I know. I'm a mess. I get it. I tend to order my pizzas without Italian sausage because I'm an odd one. Well I asked & the workers didn't know if it had fennel or not. My bad for still ordering the pizza as is. I'll take that one. My pizza's dough was soggy though. It almost seemed as if it wasn't cooked all of the way which may be because of the new oven. The sauce was good though, really good.

My beef pizza slice was reasonably priced ($2.99 single topping, $3.99 two toppings), nicely sized, and not too greasy, with a generous amount of tasty toppings, plenty of cheese, and a flavorful sauce, on an okay crust. The service at the counter was just accommodative, while the dining area was basic, and clean, with a small TV. The dining area was open to the adjacent Phillips 66 convenience store. Overall, A-OK.

This is differently one of my favorite pizzas in town.Not the best location, but totally worth the drive.The ingredients are always fresh and the crust is wonderful. I suggest the Gene Supreme!

Always good pizza! Yelp makes me write more so stopreading and come eat here. Its by the airport so watch they planes come and go as you at a slice. Its NY style in KC.

Ordered on phone. Lady taking the order was not nice when asked a question. Picked up the order -Cleanliness definitely isn't a strong suit here. Food was average at bestWon't be returning
