Typhoon

I would definitely give a thumbs up to Typhoon Thai for the flavors of what we ate. We enjoyed the Pad Thai, the peanut sauce, the egg rolls and the Hidden Treasure appetizers very much. The Peanut sauce had a fresh taste. Also we got a complimentary cup of house soup too that had a nice ginger flavor. Our server carefully took our order to make sure they had it correct, repeating back what we ordered. The negatives are that it is an old building. There are some smells in the bathroom area. We were there at lunch time but it wasn't busy until a bit later. Still, our food took a while and we had to wait 5-10 mins from the time the first order was delivered until we got our last. I would definitely support this restaurant but come when you aren't in a rush. And be patient.

I picked up a to go order tonight for my wife and me. I ordered the duck curry (red curry with duck). I don't mind spicy, if I'm feeling froggy I will ask for "Thai hot", but I wasn't feeling it tonight so I asked for 3 out of five stars. What I got was unpleasantly spicy with zero flavor - just heat, didn't even have any flavor of coconut milk.I make Thai curries regularly (it isn't hard - heat coconut oil, fry the curry paste, add meat, vegetables, coconut milk, sugar, fish sauce, basil leaves and fresh lime). It's always a fight with the family over the spice level, because more curry paste means more flavor. What I got from Typhoon was not made with curry paste (if it was it would have had the flavor of Thai curry...) but it was NOT Thai curry. Maybe bad Chinese food pretending to be Thai?My wife had the Tom Yum Gai (soup). Very little chicken and worse flavor. She had diarrhea with an hour and a half.As a former restaurant owner I hate giving a bad review because I know how hard you work and how demoralizing it can be when you get a bad review from an, often as not, deranged customer having a bad day. But man this meal should be a crime. We ended up eating half and throwing out the rest. The server was pleasant, seemed like a nice kid.

Restaurant was very dark and gloomy. Things looked old and dirty. Food was just ok. We got the Chicken Pad Thai, Beef Pad Thai, Green Curry, and the Spring rolls. The curry had a weird taste and did not taste like the green curry I have had from other places. The Pad Thai dishes was ok, but did not taste fresh. The spring rolls were over cooked and had a slight burnt taste. The man taking out order and serving us was very nice and polite, and was very attentive to our drinks and all the DoorDash people coming in. So the service was good but the food and interior was why I gave such a low score.

Food is amazing & you can customize the spiciness. Cashew shrimp is my go-to. Egg rolls are really good. The interior could be updated.

Pretty decent Thai food outside of a big city.They have a good selection of dishes, including duck, which you don't always see on many Thai menus, and they have some lunch specials (11:00-3:00).The Chicken Satay had the right flavor in the marinade and the peanut sauce was tasty. The Tom Yum soup was missing something in the flavor, but still good.

Dinner portions sized for kids or light lunch2. Spice rating doesn't align with other Thai scales (nationwide). On a 1-5, their 2 is more a 4. (At least my meal that day) 3. The curry sauce was very watery4. The spring rolls lacked sufficient filling making for a fried, rolled wrapper. The dipping sauce was great, though. 5. My vegetarian curry had mostly cabbage and one small broccoli bit. Tofu was extra small squares and provided limited protein and taste. Parting comments:This is a Thai restaurant for the novice Thai food customer. If you've loved your Thai food in cities with a Thai community and great food, this place isn't for you. If you like Chinese food and a bit of punch, you'll be happy with some of the meat dishes. Vegetarian Thai lovers, drive to Joplin.

For awhile Typhoon wasn't as good after the old owner left. I believe there is now another set of new owners and it's just like I remember! Yellow curry is full of flavor and spice. So good, yumm!

This has to be some of the worst food I have ever had. Not to mention the restaurant is FILTHY. My fiancé ordered crunchy pad Thai and it was basically a deep fried giant dry ramen rectangle with a scrambled egg and beef on top. The sauce smelled like urine and tasted just as bad. I had Pad Kee Moa. It was burnt and also had a strange smell and flavor. We didn't even try to get any of it down. Just paid for our food and left.

Doesn't look like it's much when driving by, when my family & I arrived it was empty so we didn't have high hopes. The first thing to come out was the crab ragoons and they were PHENOMENAL. Definitely some of the best I've ever had! Then after ordering we got this interesting rice soup, and we all scarfed it down!! It was so yummy!! Then I ordered wonton soup and it was definitely the best I've ever had, a large variety of veggies, with a delicious broth. Then came the food. Oh my goodness it was PERFFECTTTT!!! My dad got the volcano chicken and he absolutely loved it (and he's very picky), my mom couldn't keep her hands off his plate it was so delicious! My mom ordered the Ginger Chicken and literally said how amazing it was probably 15 times. I will 110% be coming back here!!!

Tasted pretty good. Way over priced. Curry was very watery. Better off going to a buffet.
