I did The Neighbor room yesterday and it was pretty disappointing. We ended up making it out with 3 minutes to spare, but we had to ask for a bunch of clues because the clues that we found made no sense and were in no way connected. The whole thing just felt like a stretch. I won't go into too much detail, so I don't ruin the surprise if you do decide to check this room out, but the locks were hard to open and when we did have a combination right sometimes we thought that we were wrong because we couldn't get the lock to open and ended up wasting more time when we in fact had it right. Many of us kind of gave up in the middle of the whole thing because it wasn't challenging or exciting; it was mostly just frustrating. I have been to other escape rooms in the past where the staff made us feel pumped and welcome when we got there, thus enhancing the experience. I did not get that feeling here; even when we received clues the lady who said she would be watching and listening to know where we were at had no idea how far into the puzzle we were or what we needed next. She gave us the wrong clues or clues that didn't apply yet because we weren't that far along. We spent more time explaining to her what we needed help with. And FYI they do not accept Groupon deals on Saturdays.

The game itself was not terrible. Lots of locks, a couple interesting puzzles, and several unduly complex ones. You know, a cipher with many layers of translation (colors, letters, numbers, words) which make it more convoluted but not particularly clever or intriguing. No coherent storyline. When we would ask for a hint (unlimited hints are offered) the Game Master would ask several questions to ascertain our progress. Questions which could easily have been answered by watching us through the video or noticing that, yes a drawer was open or an item was in a particular place. You should not have to spend that much time describing to the GM where/what is happening in the room.My biggest complaint is that after time ran out they would not explain how to solve the room. I would've been satisfied with a brief summary. We had two children with us and we were playing the game at a leisurely pace. If we had thought we would not be shown the final solution we would've asked for more hints during the game. We also probably would've chosen an easier room. Their website clearly stated, "If after 60 minutes your group is still 'trapped' our game master can show you the solution - if you want it!" We DID want it, but they refused. (The website was changed shortly after.) In an email response to my complaint the owner told me, "The website stated we CAN show you the unsolved puzzles but does not require us to do so..."

I was a little underwhelmed by this escape room - we took my son here for his birthday after we had a great time at another escape room in KC - so we had high expectations. The staff wasn't very professional and didn't seem to be confident in her presentation - she provided vague instructions and lacked the polish that we've seen elsewhere. The room itself was lack-luster - no real wow moments like the others provide. The only saving grace was that we got a great deal from groupon otherwise we would have complained. With so many great escape rooms in the area this one has some clear opportunities to step it up or I fear the worst. I love these type of places and it is a shame to see one that doesn't seem to be trying very hard.

We had a blast. The game master helped us when he noticed us struggling and ensured we were having a great time. We did the grey matter room and it was so awesome. We escaped with less than a minute left. Can't wait to try the other 2 rooms.

The room was good. We did neighbors. I was frustrated with the fact that they do not tell you, before you start, that if you don't get out, you will not be told what you missed. Our worker told us we were about 3/4 the way finished. If we would have known that we would not be told how to achieve the goal, we would've asked for more clues during the hour. Very frustrated with the ending experience.

We enjoyed this so much!! First of all, we got a Groupon deal and when I called and they said we could bring extra people and pay for them when we came so that worked out. Our hostess was very enthusiastic and did a great job explaining everything throughly. The Bomb Squad room we did was not extremely elaborate but we found the "puzzles" interesting and engaging. It was challenging but not overly difficult. We had ages ranging from 10-55 and everyone had a blast! I would definitely recommend this with a fun group and can't wait to try the new room they are adding!! Go, you'll love it!! Thank you Trapped KC :)

Had a great time in trapped KC with the family. The lady there, Amanda, was very nice and helpful. We had so much fun in the room we booked we decided to a second room. Amanda set us up in a different room no problem. Great experience!

To give reference, this is the 6 or 7th room we've done. Room is very small and lacks much interaction. To no fault of the room makers one of the locks didn't work with the correct answer so we sat there reworking a solved problem for 15 min until we asked for a clue where an employee came in and jimmied the lock to open it. Saddest part is she was unapologetic and charged us a clue for getting help. Not many props or feel in the room either. Definitely debated asking for our money back, but didn't want to be that guy.

Our first time in an escape room. We tried TrappedKC because of a Groupon. I am not sure I would pay full price to visit again. We didn't know where to start. Some sort of direction on where to start would have been helpful. The little recording at the beginning seemed worthless. But overall our group of 4 felt challenged and we had a good time together.

This was our second "Escape" room ever. Compared to our first experience at Breakthrough KC, this one really lacked a sense of professionalism and adventure. When we came to check in, the one lady who seemed to have the most knowledge, was sitting at the front desk knitting. This immediately sets a tone of boredom and disinterest in the customers who just walked in the door. As we started the game and the timer was set and the door locked, a few min. later, another staff person had to come and place an item in the room that was crucial to the game and had been forgotten in the previous reset. Again, this immediately ruins the sense of adventure and make believe that makes these rooms fun. Then there were two items in the room that malfunctioned in the middle of our game. Finally, every time we hit the button and asked for a hint, it was obvious that whoever was supposed to have been watching our game and providing hints had not been paying much attention to us and didn't even seem to know where in the game we were or what hint to provide.Aside from all of that, the feel of the entire place was just not professional nor a good setup for this "experience." The employee break area at the back is disorganized and messy and there needs to be some partitions added so that customers aren't able to see that area. The room itself was interesting and could have been a lot of fun, but the overall experience was extremely lacking. We paid a fair amount of money for this "experience" and the experience was lame. What makes these escape rooms fun and interesting is the whole feel and vibe of the place and being able to get "in character." It's like watching a play at the theater, all it takes is one person or one thing being out of character to ruin the entire thing. In our case, there were multiple things.
