We are furnishing a new home from scratch and are spending tens of thousands of dollars on furniture, but this store won't get a single buck from us.My wife and I walked in this afternoon looking specifically for a dining room set and a wooden rocker but no one offered to help us. We spent about half an hour poking around on our own but couldn't get anyone to help. We're in our mid-fifties and very upper middle class and, I would think, are exactly the kind of customers they would like to have. I guess not. Many Kansas City furniture stores have gone out of business since Nebraska Furniture Mart came to town, but if Traditions fails, it has nothing to do with the competition.

I was very impressed with the customer service. I liked the fact that they let me look around for awhile without bothering me. When I had a question, they were very helpful and gave me excellent advice on dining room furniture. They have REALLY good solid furniture that you will be able to pass down for generations. Take the time to visit with them and you will be impressed with how knowledgeable they are. I just moved into the area and this is so much better than the big box furniture stores. They are a full service furniture store with great customer service.

There are millions of furniture stores and billions of furniture inside of them - and it's enough to paralyze a girl from decorating her own damn room with so many options her head explodes! So let me make it simple. Traditions Furniture is a great stop of you like the following:1. WOOD. Hearty woods, dark and rustic and moody. I knew a few families growing up that decorated around wood and their homes smelled like this store, with a little hint of bacon - strange but I promise it's dead-on. TF doesn't offer any light woods, nothing to brighten a room - it all looks amazing in candle light, VERY cozy and warm surroundings.2. Nothing modern. Nothing. It's not too feminine with the abundance of leather goods and rigidly shaped lamps. There is no silver, chrome, simple, mod anything. 3. Cheap art reproductions. The paintings were large and well-framed (possibly by the many framing shops around the Santa Fe neighborhood - there is an ungodly amount of them). But among the monolithic pieces, nothing I saw was over $400, and most of it was between $100 and $200. And these are statement wall-hangings here - so their prices are surprisingly affordable if you are looking to accessorize the home. 4. Lamps. Also affordable, and plenty to chose from, was their collection of table lamps, most of which were low-lighting and tasteful, classic pieces. I found a few African-inspired and Victorian style lamps I thought were interesting and for only $25 to $50! AND they offer a coupon at the door that cuts the price of one home accessory item by 25% until after December 1st - so jump on it.5. Traditional Christmas decorations. They had huge wall hangings with phrases like, "Hearts come home for Christmas" and "Your husband just called and he said you could by anything," (how dark ages is that last quote?!) They also had tons of those collectible Santa dolls some women like so much around this time. You know - I would love this place more if it were a little more Comfort Sofa and a little less "this is the men's smoking room."

Went to Traditions for the first time and will definitely return. They carry a number of quality, timeless furniture/home decor designers that no other Kansas City area stores carry. The prices reflect the timelessness, the high quality, uniqueness of the items there. While I was there I fell in love with a lamp. I have grown up with the philosophy of, "the better the lamp, the more it weighs" and this lamp reflected that. Walked over to the price tag and was ready to wince when I saw the price. $250. But I knew that I would never find a lamp like that and that the antique lamps that I ogle that look similar are $1,200 so I bought it. Before I bought it, I googled it on my iPhone to see if they marked up the price. This store's price was hands down, the lowest price that I could find for the same lamp by at least $75. The staff there were professional, not the least bit pushy and knowledgeable. Would recommend this place to others in a heart beat.

This store was lovely, but the customer service left quite a bit to be desired. My boyfriend and I were there looking to purchase, but not a single salesperson would speak to us because we are in our early 20's. Several older customers were being helped, but when I tried to get the attention of a salesperson, I was blatantly ignored. Avoid this store if you are young and don't appear wealthy, because they obviously judge service based on your projected purchase value.

I went in around Christmas time and was overwhelmed with all the holiday decorations covering everything from walls and windows to dining tables and lamps. It was actually December 23rd, and all the Christmas items were marked down 50%, except I think for pillows. Most all of the larger furniture items were out of my price range, but for such a fancy store, the half off seasonal sale actually seemed to be a great deal. Lots of quality, classic items such as vintage Santas, flocked rustic floor and tabletop trees in several sizes, dining decor and ornaments in a variety of color schemes. Unfortunately, the customer service here did not match the unique collection of holiday decor. I was there for almost an hour perusing every nook and cranny for the perfect addition to my growing Christmas collection and deciding between 2 sizes of pre-lit, flocked trees. I got a snobbish feeling from one of the sales clerks on the floor. I don't know if it was my age (mid-twenties) or the fact that I made it clear I was interested in the discounted merchandise, but I felt more ignored than welcomed. I also asked a question about one of the pre-lit trees, and could tell that the clerk didn't know the answer to my question so she just made something up rather than taking time to find out for me. I didn't appreciate being lied to so I left without making my purchase. Despite this minor incident, I may come back to check out other seasonal decorations and sales because I really was impressed with the selection.

I'm surprised to see the low reviews around customer service. I have always been greeted immediately and they've been responsive and helpful to my questions while not hanging all over me so I could browse. The items are beautiful and prices are fair for the quality (some high, some mid). I highly recommend them, particularly if you lean toward more traditional furniture and decor.

Traditions is full of wonderful furniture and accessories. Carol is my go to gal. I have special ordered furniture and bought items off the floor and am always happy with my purchases.I have been doing business here for years and never took the time to write a review, until today when I saw the "they wouldn't help me because I'm young" vs " they should have helped me because I am rich" that's ridiculous. I am old and poor and they always help me!!!Also, If you need help purchasing half price ornaments while the sales people are selling an 8 thousand dollar sofa, you may be out of luck!

By far the worst customer service experience ever. The sales staff was smug. They were unwelcoming and rude. My husband and I have been on the hunt for several nice pieces of investment furniture. We have seen the kinds of pieces we are looking for on the showroom floor but when I came in to get details and to photograph pieces to look over and consider further the staff were shockingly hostile. I was even intending on purchasing accessories that day and order a beautiful distressed leather chair for my husband's birthday. Never again would I shop there and fortunately we have the ability to order the pieces we are interested in through distributors out of state. If you know quality furniture and are able to spot the poor quality lines they intersperse throughout their showroom floor AND the sales staff is professional and courteous with you more power to you. We will not be back.

I was there for their holiday open house recently. They carry high quality furniture that is built to last. There are also lots of home decor items as well as everything from soaps (I love the 'snowy night', shea butter) to kitchen towels for the holidays. The customer service is great and they even have folks that can give you interior design advice with purchase of their furniture. It was a class act evening all around.
