Tower Tavern

Can't believe it took me so long to try this place! This was an end cap for our night and were grateful they were still serving food, no cover, affordable wells ($2-3?), decent ambiance! They have an outdoor area as well and some games. Similar to Brickhouse in terms of vibe. Decorated cute for Christmas!

My husband and I came here before a Thursday night chiefs game. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly so we talked with him most of the time. To eat we got some wings, which were amazing! The bartender said they threw them on the grill to char them a bit. We got a few beers and they had a good selections of taps. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves and next time we're in KC we'll stop in!

We stopped in here on a Friday evening. We were easily able to procure a table for a group of 6. The server was very attentive and came to get our drink orders. There are a few vegetarian items on the menu (spinach artichoke dip, baked pretzels, salads, pizzas and Stromboli). I opted for the veggie Stromboli with a side salad. The Stromboli itself was good, but what I didn't realize is that the side salad contains pepperoni. I definitely accidentally ingested a piece of it before I realized this. I'm not a fan of the flavor and I'm definitely not a meat eater, so I was kinda irked. I mean, who puts pepperoni in a side salad? That's a first for me. After reviewing the menu later, it became apparent to me that said side salad is a small version of their "mixed greens" which does contain pepperoni. Other than the random pepperoni incident, I would recommend Tower Tavern. I've also had their breakfast pizza (which has a veggie option). It's a no nonsense kind of place with a laid back atmosphere. Just be cognizant that if you're kosher or a non-meat eater, you should probably check your salads for any bits of meat (or make sure you ask them not to put it in)!

I find myself at Tower Tavern for breakfast/brunch and dinner a couple times a month. The weekend brunch menu is small but I've had everything on the menu and it's all good. Then for dinner/lunch during the week - between the sandwiches, wings, and pizza - they do it just as good as anyone in KC if not better. There's almost always an open table where you can depend on quick service.My friends have an ongoing argument about who has the best wings in town. Tower Tavern makes a case for the best, which makes Tower Tavern an ideal spot for "guy's night."They have a solid craft beer menu as well.

"How about helping my friend here?"When you here that, you know that service is going to be questionable. Luckily my bar mate, on his second or third drink whom I just met, had looked out for me and sort of scolded the bartender her poor service. It took about 5 minutes before the bartender even recognized me.The bar was three quarters full (10 or 13 people), and there was one bartender there and not only was she responsible for everyone's drinks, but also cleaning the glasses and making drinks for everyone else in the bar. I suppose there was a bar-back somewhere, but I didn't see them until I was getting close to leaving. I'm not sure how the rest of the establishment was being served, but service was not only slow, it was uninterested and to be honest, a bit frazzled. To be honest, that was not the problem of the bartender, how can a place whose main business is to serve drinks have only one person working the bar?I ordered a BLT sandwich and it had the same problem as the Peanut I went to a couple of months earlier. It was a sandwich that I could make at home for a couple of dollars. Two pieces of supermarket quality wheat toast, supermarket quality bacon, supermarket quality tomatoes and lettuce. What was worse was that of the kettle style chips I ordered, about half of them were crisp and proper and the other half was soggy, as if they came in contact with water or maybe they were just old and stored in a humid place. I don't have much more to say about this place. When your main experience is wanting to leave, it was not going to be a good experience. BTW: my sandwich and Miller High Life (the best part of my meal) cost me $20 with tax and sympathy tip.

I've only been for drinks and apps, but I really liked Tower Tavern. With TVs on every wall, I think it would be a great spot to watch games. They had a very strong selection of local and regional beers on tap. The pretzels were very good. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.

Just wanted to give my opinion on this place as an out of state visitor. Saw good reviews while searching for place to eat. Walked into this place, and everyone seated stared. Waited 10 minutes and a waitress walked past and said nothing to us such as "we will be right with you" so then we decided to leave due to an unwelcoming atmosphere from the jump, and went to CLIFFS TAPHOUSE where the vibes were the total opposite and did not disappoint.

Small bar and restaurant. Open during mid day which is hard to find in the area. They have a good special each day M-F. Lots of high top seating or bar seating. Service seemed short staffed mid day, but food came out pretty quick. I got the sandwich special, with house made chips. Chips were crispy and food was good!

Good service & great food. Especially liked their wings, meatloaf special looked delicious

I loved the place great service, great food and drinks but I wish they would get some better TVs
