Randomly found this trail after missing my workout class time. It is such a nice and SHADED trail. They have many parking lots throughout, so you can start wherever. I also like that the trail was lined like a street! So, everyone knew which side to claim and can stay clear or the bicyclist. They had little ponds everywhere too which was cute! Many benches and water fountains throughout for pit stops if needed. I'm not sure how long the trail is, but it's lengthy

This is a really nice trail network, and one that I think is much more suited for walking and jogging versus cycling. I say that mainly because they are a bit narrow, occasionally winding, but also packed during peak times. I also got a flat tire when riding on one a few weeks ago because of a sudden bumpy stretch, so maybe I'm a little bitter about that.. Lately I've been out here to run and I love it, outside of the constant drone of the highway as a lot of the trail network is by 435 highway. One a midwestern summer night, you'll find deer, beavers, hawks and a million mosquitoes, but it's all good. It's a good way to take in the golden hour, and the amount of trees around the trail is wonderful. I don't live near here, but drive out for it which tells you it's a worthwhile investment. I wish all neighborhoods had the foresight to have trail networks as no one ever regrets having them around, right?? These trails snake into parks, busy areas, solitude, and are considered safe. Highly recommend checking them out.

This is a trail that must have inspired Disney World. The fire flies were buzzing about and a small black snake crossed our path. Amazing. Take the bike.

What a lovely, relaxing spot. It's a little hidden gem in old Leawood. The trails are great for walking/running/biking/skating, etc. There are a few covered picnic tables, and the animal watching is so fun. Mostly geese, but we've often seen beautiful Blue Heron here too. This is an older trail, but I feel safe on it. It's well maintained with a nice big parking lot. From the TrailLink app: "The Tomahawk Creek Trail follows its namesake waterway through the Kansas City suburbs of Overland Park and Leawood. The trail provides access for the thousands of nearby residents to a number of commercial centers as well as athletic fields, parks and two golf courses. Much of the trail's route is heavily wooded, offering a peaceful respite from daily life in the surrounding nature. The trail also connects to a number of sidepaths, expanding access to the recreational amenity for even more residents. The Switzer Road Trail, 133rd Street Path and Nall Avenue Path link directly to the Tomahawk Creek Trail at the corresponding roads. At its northern end, the trail also meets the popular Indian Creek Bike/Hike Trail."

I used to walk here because it was located across the street from my job. But I keep finding myself returning even now that I no longer work or live close by. The park and trail areas are well maintained. And even though you are so close to the highway and much of suburbia, when you enter the treelined parts of the paths, it is as if you have escaped into a wonderful nature sanctuary. This trail connects to other great bike/walking trails, as well as to Leawoof Dog Park (which I also adore). There is ample parking, bags for the dog waste, and some great scenery & wildlife to absorb during your visit.I enjoy the paved trails, the tree-lined paths, the ponds that offer a view of the majestic Great Blue Heron, flocks of ducks & geese, as well as all types of other interesting characters. Not to mention the cute dogs I cross paths with if I am lucky.

Loved this trail! It has high visibility if safety is a concern. The full trail is about 24 miles. Lastly, everyone practices great walking/biking curtesy to let other persons know they may be behind you coming up.

What an awesome park. Here you can find a large pond with many geese, a covered pavilion and picnic tables, and a long walking/biking trail that runs parallel to a peaceful, babbling creek. We have two pups and we love bringing them to the creek where it's shallow so they can run around and hunt for minnows. You can't swim in the pond but you can fish! They also have many benches along the water front. My favorite bench is tucked away on a hidden pathway, overlooking the pond. I love coming here in the middle of the day when it's super quiet. When the sun goes down, it can get fairly busy so I try to avoid those hours. I highly recommend coming here if you need a good space to get away from the busyness of town. With so much vegetation and nature, you are bound to feel more at peace here!
