Always a good place to eat with friends and family. The food is amazing and you get a lot. The people are always nice, they make you feel at ease, and have fun. The environment is definitely family-oriented!

Location: North Kansas CityAmbiance: Family oriented. Indoor seating. My understanding is that the place is old. I agree with multiple reviews saying that the place looks dirty. I did not notice any particular bad smell. But I saw greasy roofs, walls, etc.Food: unacceptable . Let's break it down: the soup was a little rancid. Also tasted like microwave made.Fried rice was blunt. Shrimp and scallops were most likely frozen.Show and service: When I go to a Hibachi place, I don't look for the ultimate michelin quality food. Of course, I always appreciate well-made food, but also entertaining is one of the futures that I look for. If this place had offered a better show, I would've given it at least 3 stars. But just throwing shrimps and making a volcano with onions is just not enough. Poor interaction with the audience.Sorry, but overall, this place is horrible. This is not a cheap place and does not represent what a Hibachi place is supposed to be. The potential is there, I hope they change their ways.

Place was dark and dirty. Service was good. They didn't do the typical tricks they do at other hibachi places. Food was very bad. Soup tasted like cheese. Salad dressing tasted like mayonnaise. Scallops were squishy and chewy. Steak and chicken were okay. Rice and noodles were bland.

Hands down the best hibachi restaurant I've ever had. I don't go anywhere else! You get the most food for the price, too. It isn't very clean, though. It needs several deep cleans. There's food on the walls and dust on the ceiling. The service has always been good! I love going here and always leave super full. I just don't look around- keep my eyes on the food

I have to say we were a little disappointed. We have been to two other similar restaurants in the area, but after reading reviews wanted to give TJS a try. Very busy place and they definitely have a system to get as many people in and out as quickly as they can, not once did it feel like they were trying to make you feel special or acknowledge that you might be there for a special occasion. Secondly, the chef did the bare minimum, nothing special there either. And finally, the chicken was tough, the noodles were cold and even the filet minion was chewy and the veggies were under cooked. This is a fun place to have dinner. With the hibachi flat top chef entertaining everyone, it's easy to get distracted and not notice how good the food is. Don't be shy if you're dining as a couple, because they sit you with others to give that shared community feeling. Everything from the flipping shrimp into guests mouths, to banging the drum for people having birthday celebrations make for an entertaining night. Can't wait to come back!

So I had the extreme displeasure of dining here last night. If you are looking for a substandard hibachi experience then look no further than! I ordered the hibachi New York strip. It came with a soup, salad, and shrimp appetizer. The soup tastes like it had been watered down to make it stretch to the point that the flavor was all but gone, the salad was probably the best thing I ate all night (and that is not saying much), the shrimp had a weird taste (still can not figure it out), they did not have yum yum sauce but the sauce they did have was nasty. It was like a yum yum sauce exiled cousin that no one wants to talk about. Also they charge you for every drink you have at full price. So if you had 10 soft drinks or iced teas you would pay $25. They say this is due to inflation, but keep in mind that these refills cost them Pennie's. So if you are thinking about trying this restaurant then take my advice make it yourself at home you will save money and the food will be 100% better!

Just know call ahead if you want to do hibachi. Ideally you should have a reservation. We let the hostess know i have a food allergy and she told us to just let the server know and she sat us with a group of 3. When our server came out she let her know about my food allergy and laughed about it and yea she has a carrot allergy. And laughed. Laughing at someone's severe food allergy isn't something to laugh about.

The food was amazing! The quantity was mucho. Been going here for 25 years now. Love to bring friends and family here. They are very playful and make your experience fun. The atmosphere was nice with dark woods and nice lighting to set a great mood. Love the fruity drinks. Would not go anywhere else for the money. Bring back the sushi!!!

Don't order the Filet the menu says Filet Mignon so we ordered it and yes it cost more which is fine but three of us ordered it. When it was done cooking the steak was tough and most likely sirloin, real tough to chew. I have never had a Filet mignon that was tough. So when I said something to the waitress about it, she looked at the cook and immediately by the look on their face they both new I was right. So they apologized and said we won't charge you for filet we will charge you for regular steak. Other than that the food tasted good like it has been in the past. We eat filet mignon often enough to know what it taste like and how tender it usually is. So Don't Order Any Steak because you probably won't get what it says on menu. We got charged for steak that was good. Pretty sad.
