My friend wanted me to go kickboxing with her and I thought it sounded fun not to mention I like my friend. =) We came on a Saturday before noon and I had to fill out a form with my name, address, and number. It was free for the first time to try out. We didn't get to go to the kickboxing class but rather the boxing class. I borrowed their boxing gloves (which I regretted later because they stunk up my hands, bleecch) for the class. The instructor was Bigg Ron and he was pretty cool. We started out with warm ups then we pretty much followed whatever he demonstrated for us to do. There was music playing so it was easy for me to "get in the groove" and start punching the punching bag. Lucky for me, I was somewhat in shape because I started to run around my apartment area since April on and off. A lot of the stuff for the boxing class was tiring and I can't imagine the kickboxing class. It was one hour long and I had to stop a bunch of times to drink some water or to take a short break before continuing. I noticed a few others were also pretty tired and did the same. After the class was over, I felt great and just a little sore. I even felt like my abs would start to be more defined and even get my 6-pack back which I wouldn't mind because a 6-pack again really helped with running in the past. Bigg Ron and one of the other guys that came to box were telling me, "We'll see you next time" like it wasn't even a question. lolI will have to definitely consider the membership. It's a great way to stay in shape and the times were posted on their website for kickboxing and boxing.

The classes and he instructors are wonderful at this location. Everyone does a great job and works you hard. However, the service is a whole other issue. Your first class is free, but after you get done, you will be pressured to sign a membership contract. Don't let the workout haze and the convincing sales girl tell you otherwise, it's a contract. And it's through a 3rd party, who you have to contact through phone. The club that you sign up with has nothing to do with your payments or the contract itself, beyond the facility. So if you want to cancel, have a bad experience, or any other issue, be prepared to be on the phone for a long time. All in all, if you're sure that you want to join a club, then go for Title. If you might change your mind and don't want to deal with a ton of stress, go elsewhere.

I first joined Title Boxing Club back in 2011 when the club in Lawrence opened up. I immediately became hooked and regularly attended at least 3-5 classes/week until I moved to the Kansas City area in 2014. When I moved here I began going to this club in Prairie Village and quickly adjusted to a new routine with a team of awesome trainers like I was used to in Lawrence.I have molded my weekly schedule around class times specifically to attend my favorite trainers' classes and loved the variety of styles and different techniques that each trainer brought to the table. These trainers were an integral factor in my 40lb weight loss that I achieved last year and I have regularly driven out of the way to attend early morning and evening classes regardless of the weather. The Lawrence Title Club was forced by corporate to close last fall after 4 years of business but I was thankful that I still had PV. In the recent months however new owners have come in and there have been noticeable changes at the club in an effort to streamline it to fit into corporate's idea of the ideal business model. What the new owners don't understand is that there was nothing wrong with this club to begin with. The old adage of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" has never rang so true. Dozens of comments were left by members on social media regarding these changes and instead of taking the advice of loyal members who have been coming back year after year, the environment has continued to plummet farther and farther downhill. New music was brought in to replace the individual trainers' playlists, which sucked; but I can get over bad music. What I can't get over however, are sub-par trainers. One by one, the most popular and beloved long-time trainers are gradually being replaced with random "trainers" with nowhere near the experience or skills simply because they will go along with all of the ridiculous new "rules." We don't need trainers with headset microphones in a small one-room gym. We need trainers with energy and passion who don't need a microphone and techno music to pump up their students. I have remained a loyal member for trainers like Jason, Ryan, Jon, Tevin, Bilal, Marcus, Bryan and of course Ron from back in my Lawrence days. The 2 stars I gave are strictly for those trainers and the staff that has weathered through all of the turmoil. I had been holding out hope that the new owners would finally see the error in their ways and listen to the feedback from their members but unfortunately recent developments have proven that will not be happening at all. It's truly sad how quickly corporate has managed to completely ruin something that was once such a great thing for Kansas City. Now regretfully after nearly 5 years, just like so many other disheartened loyal Title members, I will be cancelling my membership once and for all as much as it saddens me to do so. I met some lifelong friends through Title Boxing (all of which have now moved on to new gyms), even teaming up with several for Tough Mudder obstacle runs together but those friendships will now be outlasting the life of this club if they continue on the path they are currently on. Thanks for the memories.

If you would've asked me five months ago, I would have given this place 5 stars easily. The instructors and staff created a comfortable, personable environment for everyone there. The classes flew by, thanks to each instructors unique personality, experience and flavor of music. Unfortunately, Corporate seems to have come in, disrupting this once wonderful and enjoyable environment. They have taken away everything I have loved about this location and what has kept me a loyal customer for over four years. To hear of amazing trainers being fired over the pettiest matters (matters which are only there to create a sterile, mono environment where the customer is only a number rather than promoting a fun environment where was is encouraged to work harder on improving oneself) is disheartening and is quite possibly the final straw in what may lead me to canceling my membership. The only reason I gave this review two stars is for the amazing staff who have weathered thru these unfortunate changes so far.

I simply love this place. I had previously signed up with another boxing gym and I was so upset with the mistake I made. Title offers supervision during workouts as far as posture and injury prevention, a complete workout, extra friendly staff and management, hygiene standards ( all bags are wiped down after classes) for an amazing price!!!! Jesse the GM is phenomenal. These guys will make you achieve your health and fitness goals in no time!

This is my very first review I've felt compelled to leave on Yelp. I use Yelp often and have even had bad experiences...never have I felt so driven to let the Yelp community know how awful of an experience I've had here.First and foremost: workouts were great, this is the third Title Boxing membership I've had for a reason. That being said, I've already joined AND LEFT twice before at different locations and never had any problems.Brian, the owner, was very rude to me when I told him I was moving. He very sternly told me that I was to send a proof of address from the place I was moving to even though I didn't have a place to live yet (it was a relocation for a job). I finally found a place to live (a month later) and was able to send a proof of address. I was then told I would be charged two more months because, hey, it was in the contract. Here we are, THREE months after that (four months after I moved) and I'm still getting charged. I called to inquire about the charges only to be told that because I moved within 25 miles of another club (the closest one is 15 miles away) that they couldn't cancel my membership. Because, hey, it was in the contract.Fine, I get it. Read your contract before you sign it. But it would have been pretty easy to pick up the phone and tell me that they weren't going to cancel the membership instead of me having to find out three months and 200 dollars later. Also, this doesn't seem to be an issue at other Title Boxing Clubs. I told them I was moving and with a click of a button they cancelled my membership and told me "happy trails!"Long story short, kids: Join a different Title Boxing Club. Any other one will show you 1000x better customer service and won't take your money unfairly.

So I never post reviews but after reading all the negative reviews about the management I had to leave something. When I signed up for Title boxing they told me up front about the contract and that is done yearly so opting out in the middle of your contract is not possible. If you don't like that, don't join. As far as the workouts go, some of the best instructors work at Prairie Village. Corey and Jessie are my favorite but each class leaves you tired, sweaty, and feeling like a badass. Something about gloving up really gets your adrenaline and inner boxer going. You clean and sanitize your own bag and area around you at the end of each class so the place is clean. All the instructors are really good at walking around through the class and give motivation, encouragement, and help build your technique.I've seen a stronger, more confident, more badass me since joining Title Boxing and think it is well worth the money.
