Super chill, super quiet, no pretentious jerks here! Weekly or monthly memberships. Scan in anytime of the day using your hand. Lots of room, some resistance bands w handles, stretching area, Stairmasters and treadmills. Plenty of machines although they are generally not very new and some are kind of slow and creaky. Free weights here go well above 100lbs that I recall.

Overall I like this gym. Friendly staff and one of the few gyms I can find with multiple locations that isn't Planet Fitness. The crowd is chill and it feels like a judgement free zone. The facilities need some major work. I'm aware the building is being renovated and they are moving, but right now it's below my expectations. No real locker room exists. The cardio equipment is okay but all the weight machines need replaced and there needs to be more selection with more than 1 of the most common equipment. There are multiples of some, but not enough. This gym couldn't handle much more of an increase in members. I recommend it still only due to the fact that there aren't many decently priced gyms in KC.

This gym is actually walking distance from my place, but I'm giving this gym one less star then the Rivermarket location for the main reason of aesthetics and ventilation. I interchanged working out at the River Market and Uptown location for a few months (and I still use this location only on the weekends), but it's kind of grungy...and not in a good way.1. It's in the back of an old strip mall. So part of the gym is in a hallway and enclosed courtyard-type area. The cardio room is in an old laundromat and the ventilation is really bad, and part of the reason I only go on the weekends. When it gets crowded, it gets so hot and the AC isn't adequate. One time I just had to leave, it was that unbearable. The only relief is in the winter, but sometimes they have the heat on (this happens at both locations).2. The machines are newer, but they don't have a lot of them. Maybe one for each muscle group. And the pump room is set up very awkwardly where there's more equipment then mirror space. There's also a free weight section in the front of gym by the attendant desk, but barely anyone uses it because no one wants to put on a show for the dozens of cardio machines that are also facing the mirrors. It's just a super strange setup that I wish someone would change and make this gym make sense!Overall, it's not fancy (but managable), is open 24 hours (hard to find nowadays), so it gets the job done.

The place is clean. The equipment doesn't stay broken. Getting quainted with equipment is a lonely experience, as a new member. I wish there was a better orientation.

I will say they are a great gym for being in the heart of a major city! The atmosphere is great. FREE classes of all types... Boxing and bootcamp and whatevers. Their free weight side is not organized very well. But it works. They have a lot of open area to do lunges and plyo work. They have boxing and kickboxing bags... FYI... If youre kicking and dropping bombs on the body bag and think youre tough because its flying around... STOP. The clientele is a mix of women and active men... A few meatheads, but few and far in-between. Actually... I would consider myself a meathead relative to the rest of the clientele. I do not see a lot of flirting or guys hitting on girls. No guys just there all day trying to look pumped for the chicks. People come in... Do their business and get out! The employees are very friendly. We had a situation with one of the workers who contacted a female friend unsolicited. We emailed the owner and she informed us he was already let go and she was going to send legal notice to him. She took it very seriously and was very professional. This is very comforting to all you females who are looking for a gym who you can trust and be comfortable in. Busy times are usually around the classes... 8-9am and it is PACKED between 5-7 and sometimes till 8pm. So be aware. Can we get a lying hamstring curl machine here?! *To you players who curl in the squat rack... Do Not!*

I'd been a member of Scott Fitness/TheGymKC for a long while now, but only recently worked out at the midtown location. I can easily see why it's becoming a fan favorite, but I'm not sure if I'd give up the River Market location for it.Just like the other locations, it has a hand-scanner for entry and is open 24 hours. It has showers, cardio, and the typical weight equipment. There's WiFi in the building, and plenty of space for classes and cardio.Part of the place's charm is that it utilizes the old department store / mall that used to be there. There are still old signs up, and the doorways from the old businesses are there. It's also part of the drawback. It scores well in charm, but for utility, it's kind of a minus -- the seemingly randomly placed door ways make the place seem a little too maze-like (and for newbies intimidated by the gym, that might be a turn-off). The entrance is in the rear of the building, meaning it's not visible from the street at all, and thus, a little hard to find. (I wouldn't call it a safety issue, but it does present a unique challenge for folks who wouldn't already know where it is.) And, given that it's an old building... it's awfully hard to keep cool in the hot Kansas City summers. The thing is, though... TheGymKC is known for being a quirky alternative to the cookie cutter gyms from suburbia. It's a gym for people who live in the heart of Kansas City and only go outside the city limits when they have to. Judged on that scale? It's decent.

I love this gym. I have been to all locations but I prefer the Crossroads gym. The membership is affordable and they have a large variety of classes that are included. The gym is always clean and staff is very friendly. One of the few 24 hour gyms in the city that isn't a chain. Only downside is they have a strict dress code which is kind of silly in my opinion.

I have been going to Scott Fitness for almost a year. I needed motivation in the beginning so I started going to almost all the classes. One of my favorites is the pilates and project poolside classes. This location just recently started doing a boxing class which I can't wait to try. I found some really awesome pink gloves online and I need a reason to buy them : )There is no sign up fees and there is no cancellation fees. You can start and cancel your membership at anytime. Also, if you sign up with someone else you get a discounted price.Only one thing that is weird is the music selection they have. So bring an ipod so you don't have to listen to the outer space music.

Pros: Convenient location with easy parking. Everything seems clean enough. 24 hours. A bunch of plants in here, and maybe it's in my head, but it feels like it helps the air quality. The staff is helpful without being in the way or anything.Cons: No wi-fi on the ground floor of a concrete building pretty much means you need to be by a window if you want to listen to music or whatever on your phone. No TVs if you were wanting to work out while watching a game or whatever. Just kinda generally gray and dull. Also, a bunch of the ellipticals have some issue with their software that basically doesn't let you get past entering your weight (which keeps resetting to "68" for some reason) on any of the programmed workouts.Overall: I go to this location because I live a couple blocks away, but for me personally, no wi-fi would otherwise be a dealbreaker and seems incredibly odd at a gym in the 21st century. They don't play their own music in here which I have a neutral opinion on because it can get boring in the middle of the night if I can't get service or forgot my headphones, but then again most gyms play the worst music known to man so I can live with it. I haven't tried the classes so I can't review that. It's 24 hours and gets the job done without any serious concerns; I just rarely finish a whole workout at this particular location due to plain boredom.

This gym has everything you need for a good workout. The whole selling point is no "meat-heads" and with that they don't want people wearing cut off shirts or bras to workout in. Caution as they take this to the extreme. I wore a "cropped" tank top with a crop sweatshirt and high waisted leggings and was confronted by a worker who told me my shirt needed to "touch my leggings at all times" and they suggested I tuck my shirt into my leggings? Very bizarre as if you cannot show any kind of skin at all (which I wasn't). Meanwhile multiple men were wearing cut off shirts. So this definitely put me off! Also it's dead quiet in there.
