Get your run on!
On nice days the garage doors are open. Great breeze!

No-fuss gym with an anti-meathead culture. All are welcome. Shirts required. You get what you pay for - low cost, low maintenance gym. I've tried many gyms in the KC area and this one is the best fit for me personally. No one bothers me. I can get in and get out. Best bang for my buck. I always leave feeling encouraged.

Absolutely fantastic gym. No BS, straightforward $20/week option among others. Nice and cool and not super brightly lit which keeps the climate nice and chill. Lots of weights and dumbbells up to at least 100lbs from what I see. Lots of weight machines and cardio machines. No dank smell. They have a dress code which basically just says you have to cover your goods and a couple fantastic rules like no being a jerk and no grunting.

It is HOT. It was over 80 degrees when I went in the other day. Miserable. How do they expect people to work out during the summer when it's that hot inside? Complaints have been ignored.

This location is finally re-opening! The place looks great and it has plenty of machines for all types of exercises - from free weights, universal weights, stairmasters, treadmills, rowing machines and ellipticals. Make sure to bring a towel. No TV's yet, but hopefully this coming week. All in all, this gym has what you need!

I like this gym a lot because it gets the job done. I love the warehouse feel, the artwork, it's not too busy, I've never had an issue with parking (I go in the mornings), and the price is decent. It's very bare bones and no frill with 75% weights and 25% cardio machines. People of all strengths and sizes workout here.No one should ever feel intimidated coming here. They have helpful trainers who talk with everyone, even if they're not a client, and classes in the evening...though I've never seen a schedule. You may have to ask.Everyone re-racks their weights (except for the occasional meathead who doesn't -- a display to strangers on how much they lifted & force others to re-rack), and if it's busy people are polite enough to ask to work-in.As the signs say, they're "not your mom, pick up after yourself." My only annoyance has partially to do with some members who assume the employees are there to clean up after them. The little apartments are decent to change/clean-up in, but when people leave them a mess, it's gross. Machines sometimes aren't wiped down, even with visible sweat marks. Especially when it's busy in the afternoons, it's just inconsiderate of others. We're all adults (?), and shouldn't assume employees are there to clean up after us (and they're not).Overall, this place has everything you need. Even if the smith machine, weight machine or benches are taken, there's an abundance of weighted bars, free weights, and bosu balls to use.

This review update is LONG overdue. Sorry Scott Fitness people. Way back in the day after I posted my less than pleased update, I was actually contacted by the staff and thanked for the heads up and told they took my observations seriously. I like that a lot, as it's just good customer service.Obviously they DID take some of my concerns to heart, because I no longer see the trainer guys just loafing around, eating food while training and walking around barefoot. Well, pilates guy walks around barefoot, but he's pilates guy, so I think that sort of makes sense. The bathroom situation still sucks, but short of a MAJOR renovation they're not going to be able to change that. I can deal. My only real complaint that I have now is that I wish the lighting was just a touch brighter in the cardio area. I HAVE to have distractions while I'm doing cardio, to keep myself from remembering how much I hate it. Maybe I have bad eyes, but it's just difficult for me to read a magazine or even play with my phone due to the dim lighting. I've taken up a few of the classes. Spinning is awesome, but not as awesome as Yoga is for Every Body. The instructor Bernie is the nicest guy in the world and really makes the whole experience challenging w/o being intimidating. I'm absolutely hooked. Project Poolside makes me want to cry. What can I say? I'm a big big fan of this gym. Thanks to them I've lost about 20lbs in the last few months, and if i keep up at this rate maybe I'll put it back on in the form of becoming absolutely ripped ;)

No Meatheads!!! That's my favorite part about this gym (Sorry if that's you). It's a very inclusive gym and I don't feel intimidated to go workout. I've been a customer for about two years now and management does a good job to make it an enjoyable place to exercise. There are plenty of cardio machines, which is where I spend most of my time. I am normally there during off times of the day so I don't know how busy they get after most people are off work. I also love that they have a big, open area where you can use free weights or stretch. They have a nice selection of Bosu balls, resistance bands, jump ropes, free weights, foam rollers, and step platforms. They also offer classes in this open space, which I have yet to try. This location has a bit of an industrial feel with some beautiful artwork painted on the walls. I do wish there was more natural lighting, but when it's nice outside they can open up the garage doors. I always see the staff vacuuming, wiping down machines, and organizing weights so I would say it's kept pretty clean. As a resident of the River Market, I advise you to not keep any valuable belongings in your car when parking at the gym. This area has had some trouble with break-ins lately. Not the gym's fault at all (they have taken appropriate security measures to deter this from happening), but sometimes it's just part of living in a city. Just be smart!

They're all about cutting costs at this location. They keep it way too hot in the summer and way too cold in the winter. There is a ramp in the front of the building that is held up by a car jack. There is no way that it's up to safety codes. Dim lighting, broken machines, restrooms out of order. They stopped paying for music and cable TV. I wish they would put as much effort into customer service as they do cost savings.

Tried to get a tour for a family member, but they said it's "against their policy" unless you call first, even though they had availability.Spending an hour or so at this gym, you'll notice cost cutting measures such as unsafe lighting, old/broken equipment, and the thermostat being turned to 80 degrees in the summer/low 60's in the winter. They also just raised prices.

The gym membership is inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. The gym is dark and feels like a dungeon. So dark that it's difficult to see the weight of the dumbells. The gym is also kept very hot during the summer, and very cold during the winter. At one point, there was a note above the thermostat that read, "if you don't pay for the air conditioning, don't change the temperature!"The staff gets rude if you break their rules. I've seen customers chastised for accidentally dropping weights, wearing something that was barely too revealing, or for complaining about a broken machine.
