I had the pleasure of visiting this gym when I was in KC for work. I got the one week pass and it was $20, a great value considering some of the other gyms were asking $20 to $30 per DAY!The initial setup took a little bit of time because in addition to the normal gym sign-up they also get a digital scan of your hand and provide you with a pass code. The upside though is that you can literally check yourself at anytime. Do you want to work about after 10pm or before 5am? This is the gym for you.Everyone has great gym etiquette; from reracking weights, to cleaning and wiping down, to not hogging stations or talking about the weather (my #1 pet peeve). They also have a decently comprehensive sets of power racks/ squat racks/ Smith machines/ cardio etc. I wish they would have a separate Olympic weight lifting and deadlift platform or a reverse hyper but that's asking a bit much. The only very minor slight criticism I have is that the lights in the gym could be a bit brighter. But again very easy to overlook that in light of all the other amenities they provide.Definitely one of the best non-commercial/ local gyms I've ever been to. Highly recommended.

I'm not sure it's possible to love a gym more without being addicted to steroids. I frequent the 2020 Washington location and appreciate the following things about this gym:-no contract-cute decor-affordable rate-open 24 hours-TONS of classes and they're filled with awesome people at a wide range of fitness levels (my favorite classes are the zumba and spin classes)-never crowded (seriously)-attractive members who are fit but not meatheadsSome of the equipment is older, some of the equipment is newer but they pretty much have every piece of equipment I've ever been interested in trying out. I've never felt uncomfortable here and that's important to me. Everything I was looking for in a gym I found at Scott Fitness.Postscript-- Scott Fitness also has a bunch of trainers available. I meet with Cheryl once a week and I'm not exaggerating when I say that she has changed my life.

I first went to this location shortly after it opened, to check it out. Its got more space to be funky, and John Scott definitely took advantage of that. 60's/70's decor, manequins, and creepy family photography are just a few of the things you will see at this location, in addition to people working out. This location's art seems to swap out more regularly than the River Market location, which is cool too. I like the weights and pilates classes at this location, but I don't like doing solo cardio here. There are mainly treadmills with a few elliptical options, and since there are no TVs (I'm not counting the fuzzy black and white TVs that serve more as decor) I find it really hard to make myself do much, which is why I am not giving it 5 stars. If you are a cardio king/queen, that may not pose an issue for you. The parking lot is wonky, which is just typical of downtown. If it's full, there's street parking available. This location has a decent amount of space, offers several kinds of classes, always has music playing in case you forget or don't have an iPod, and good air conditioning. Aside from the lack of TVs, this is a great location with a great vibe.

Looking for a unpretentious gym - then GymKC is for you. They have a few locations - Crossroads and in the RiverMarket. The one in the RiverMarket is finally reopening, but we will still go to both spots for training. The offer month to month memberships and you can pause and resume if you need to. You don't that option with a lot of gyms. So the gym offers plenty of free and universals weights as well as a number of treadmills, ellipticals, and stair masters for your cardio workout. The have a spinning section for those wanting to a change of pace from the stationary bikes. They also have a couple of rowing machines. All in all I have been pleased being a member of GymKC and would put it over some of the other local downtown gyms. If you're interested - give them a call and schedule a visit. They gave us 3 days before we signed up and we've been members ever since.

What up, I hate working out. But unlike those skinny peeps with really good metabolisms, I have to!I love TheGymkc because I don't feel like I'm competing with the beef heads and I love that it's 24 hours. The price is great for the anemities it offers plus the total of 3 gyms. Pilates is ridiculously hard but I've done it twice here so that must say something! The Westside is my primary gym and although I feel like I'm working out at the Brady Bunch house, it has all the things I need :) Who has 2 thumbs and gives this place 2 thumbs up!? This girl!

My husband and I came to Kansas City from San Diego to visit family and go to a wedding when we came across this lovely gym on Google. We regularly exercise so we needed something up to par. This gym is super cool to say the least. It has multiple rooms, TONS of machines and equipment. It has a cozy feeling to it. This gym is small enough for it to feel personal but also big enough to not feel like you're always next to someone. It's the perfect size and they always played great music when we went. All of the employees are nice and willing to help you with anything. Overall, I'd recommend this gym to everyone! Can't wait to go back whenever we're there.

This is such a cool gym! I'm visiting KC from out of town for two weeks staying downtown. The owner hooked me up with an unlimited week pass. It's not super busy and everyone is laid back. It has every machine you could want and the setup is very unique. I wish we had gyms Iike this where I am from. I am happy I found this place and go everyday! One of the highlights of my trip here. I highly recommend it.

I hate sweating. I don't like working out. Not even a little. That being said, I love TheGYMkc. I've taken a few different classes so far, and this is what I know. Paul's BOAS class will beat your ass. And its a blast! The class is upbeat and he is very encouraging. Even with sweat stinging my eyes and my stomach churning, I enjoyed his banter through out the hour long session through hell. At the end of the class I feel beat and accomplished. It is "only yoga"! And its a helluva work out. Bernie issues the beat down. He's encouraging and hands on. Correcting poses, moving through out the class, providing encouragement and correction where needed. I really really hate cardio, but somehow yoga provides cardio and muscle training as well. Bernie hosts two sessions, Sundays and Thursdays. His 90 minute sessions are jam packed with sweat, heavy breathing, and a little pain. But they are also tremendously relaxing too. Who knew I could get this bendy? Touching my toes and things! My daughter gets excited when I come home and teach her a new pose after class. When I leave his classes I have muscles that ache that I never knew I even had and for whatever reason I can't wait to go back for more. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be in regards to the men's room. It could really use a stick-up, an incense, or febreeze - something. The gym has just about every machine you can imagine. And I've never waited to use one. Lots of clean towels and spray to keep the cooties away. The staff and instructors I've interacted with have been friendly and upbeat. Even signing up for my six month membership was a breeze. No bullshit and no pressure. Like I said upfront, I'm really not into working out. But I am into TheGYMkc.

I love this gym!! I've been going here a little over 7 months and recently decided to purchase the full year membership. The staff is so incredibly friendly, especially Bob. One of the things I like the best is that you can go to any of their three locations with your membership - and they are open 24/7. They have a variety of single membership options available and couples memberships are available at a discounted price as well. They have two large spaces for yoga and cycle classes at this location. They have a nice large mat area, two or three of each machine, and quite a few dumbbell racks. It is not super fancy, as mentioned by others it has a 70's vibe, but it is a gym and has everything I need and more.

As a former member of a plethora of other gyms, some corporate/chain gyms, some not, I have to say Scott Fitness has been my favorite thus far. I actually dread moving because I know it's going to be hard to find a gym as close, convenient and comfortable.A bit about SF:*Four locations around the downtown/immediate Metro area*All classes are free with membership*All personal training sessions are at a set $40/hour*You're not stuck with a contract*Most locations are open 24 hoursThe atmosphere of Scott is very laid back as well. Not a lot of sweaty, muscle-pumping and people-ogling going on, thank goodness. However, each gym still offers plenty of equipment, and the staff is always incredibly friendly. Scott is like a home gym...away from home.
