As Northlanders, we love to support locally-owned restaurants in our community. We headed to Liberty to make our first visit to the Upper Cut. Upper Cut is a prime butcher shop, serving incredible sandwiches and sides. On our next visit, we got to buy some Akaushi prime beef for home. When we entered the restaurant, they have about six tables for those of us who want to savor the food right from the kitchen. Having checked out their website, this place serves huge, creative meat sandwiches. I narrowed the 10 sandwiches down to three (Royal Roast Beef, Big Chief BLT and The Kelce) and decided to go with the BLT. Although the prices range from $15.99 to $19.99, you are getting a huge sandwich. For many, it might be good for two meals. They have two sizes for the BLT, half a pound of bacon or a full pound. Since I love bacon, I went with the pound. The cashier said I might need to see a cardiologist after eating it. If I could make a suggestion, they should give you two sandwiches when you buy that much bacon. I never thought I could say this, but there was TOO MUCH bacon for one sandwich. But I will say this, the bacon is thick cut, smoky flavored and delish. The restaurant was pretty empty at 5:30pm on Tuesday, so I was surprised it took almost 25 minutes to prepare the sandwiches. I ordered fries with sandwich, but should have ordered their incredible Smoky Bacon Potato Salad. It has received rave reviews. I was surprised the restaurant doesn't cut your massive sandwich in half. The plastic knives and forks they provide aren't up to the challenge of the massive sandwiches. My wife ordered the Aka-strami (Pastrami) and loved it. Can't wait to return! Next time I'm getting The Kelce.

I was in town for work and this place was highly recommended to me. The outrageous menu and great reviews meant I had to come check it out.I wanted to try as much as I could, figuring I could save some for dinner. I ordered a couple of sandwiches. I don't know what everyone is talking about, maybe I am just queen big back, but I was able to eat like a sandwich and a half plus the sides with no issue. I did like the sandwiches, I would love to be able to try even more. I was a little disappointed with the sides. The cheesy corn was good, advertised to be spicy but didn't have much of a kick. The lobster mac and cheese that I was very excited for was kind of mid. It was just mac and cheese with cold lobster slapped on top of it.This place is definitely worth a visit! Would definitely come back to try more sandwiches, and would see about bringing a checked bag to bring some goodies back home with me!

After shoveling snow we treated ourselves to lunch at the Upper Cut. (East in the center of Walgreens) It was our first visit since their move.We chose the Smoked Turkey Sammy. The gentleman said the Smoked Turkey was their best seller. No doubt why!!We cut one 1/2 and still took a piece home. It was excellent!Highly recommend! There are several other sandwiches we are going to try. We also enjoyed the potato salad.

This was my first visit to the new location. They moved a couple of miles south to the corner of 152 and 291 and have not only expanded the size of the place by adding a large seating area, but greatly expanded their menu to order freshly prepared food for carry-out and dine-in. It was a tough decision narrowing down from their 15 sandwich options. I chose the Bangin Brisket - Akaushi beef slow smoked for 16 hours, cubed, sauced and heaped high and overflowing a toasted bun. After one bite, I audibly dropped the f-bomb - in a positive way. Not just the best brisket, but maybe the best meat I've ever had. The premium meat is straight from the butcher case and straight from the farm- simply an amazing flavor that melted in my mouth after every slow bite and chew. The $20 sandwich may seem pricey, but it was worth every single cent. The "pork shots" were recommended as my side and I'm glad they were. Two pork meatballs wrapped in bacon and a bit of cream cheese then fried - decadently delicious also.I'm already planning on returning next weekend to purchase some Xmas gifts from the butcher case and sampling another sandwich from the fresh food counter.

So, I first saw a picture of this sandwich on Monday after the Chiefs did a major stomp on the Baltimore Ravens. And the more I looked at it the more I wanted to get my hands on it. So, the special ran through the 4th I believe, and this morning I picked up the phone and I gave them a call and ordered it!They gave this sandwich the name Butchers Special #1 Super Bowl Bound Brisket. They slow smoked wagyu brisket topped top that with a some bratwurst add a few caramelized onions add to that a combo of barbecue sauce and homemade white sauce, I did throw some jalapenos on too, and they piled all of that on a garlic butter brioche bun. They told me it would be ready around 11:45 so I hopped in the old buggy and drove up and picked it up.The drive home was sheer torture! All the aromatics of that brisket and that bratwurst and those sauces filled my car and that aroma drove me crazy there just drove me crazy. I thought for a moment I was going to have to pull over to the side of the road and eat it then and there. But I did get it home and I did get an extra treat because they showed it to be sliced brisket and they did slice it off the very end and it was more of a burnt end brisket sandwich, and it was delicious! Where am I at you ask, why I am at The Uppercut KC in Liberty Missouri.Should you happen to buy one I dare you to try to pick it up I double dare you! I knifed and forked it! And before I left for home, I scored a ring of Kielbasa and 4 links of andouille.Well done to The Uppercut KC!Well done indeed! On a gorgeous Groundhog Day in February, I am stuffing my face with delicious brisket and bratwurst!

We decided to venture North to check out The Upper Cut KC and to grab something to throw on the grill. The store is pretty small and very busy but they're moving to a larger location soon. There's fresh meats, frozen meats that you can grab, a variety of sides and desserts, and even sauces, spices, and pickled things. We opted for bacon wrapped pork ribeyes. We grilled them and served it with a peach blueberry chutney that was made with fresh fruit from the orchard. It was delicious. The cut was super large and was easily made into two meals. We also ordered a couple of sandwiches for lunch. They came with sides too. My boyfriend went with the #1 Aka-Strami: akaushi pastrami, Swiss, sauerkraut, house made 1000 island dressing on rye. For his side, potato salad. I didn't try either because I'm not a fan of Rubens or potato salad. He enjoyed it and it was large enough that he had two meals. I went with the #7 The Kelce: smoked ham, bacon, slow roasted pork, Swiss, pickles, sweet and spicy mustard on ciabatta. My side was elotes. The sandwich was ginormous and it ended up being two meals. It was also very messy but overall it was good. I wasn't expecting the pork to be a bbq style but it may have been the mustard. It was a very Carolina bbq style Cuban. They put a ton of pickles on it which I was a fan of. The elotes were probably my favorite thing that we ordered for lunch. The corn was super fresh and it was perfectly smoky, salty, and zesty. I would definitely recommend it as a side. Next time I would probably go with a different sandwich and if you call in before it will drastically reduce your wait time. They are pretty busy so if you order there, you'll probably be waiting minute. If you're in a hurry call ahead. You can't order online but maybe in the future they'll get that set up.

This was my first time having The Upper Cut KC and I had the Butchers Special - Street Tacos with the House Made Chips and Dip for my side. It was SO good, especially for having it delivered. The chips look a little over done, but they didn't taste that way. The dip was some kind of smoky queso, and it was great. It was a little cold by the time I got it, but that was to be expected with delivery. The tacos were also AMAZING. The steak is phenomenal and red onions, cheese and a Chipotle sauce were also on the tacos. SO GOOD. I can't wait to try something else next time! I will be back!

I am a fan of supporting local businesses but The Upper Cut is ridiculous.Their prices are incredibly high. I ordered a fresh turkey from them for Thanksgiving this year but didn't ask the price (my bad). I should have known when I ordered it on-line and paid a $50 deposit. When I got there, they sold me an 18 pound turkey for $112. At grocery stores, turkey was selling for a little over $2/pound and Upper Cut sold it to me for over $6/pound.On a previous order, I got some steaks for over $80 and in the credit card transaction, they had a tip function which I hadn't seen at a food market. For an $80 order, maybe they assume I should give them an extra $16 to pay their employees.Honestly, at these prices and their high profit margin, I think they should pay their employees well and not expect me to pay them. And the meat at Hyvee and Pricechopper is just as good. Save your money!
