The Tennis Set moving to 95th and Mission is a dream come true for those who have missed it since it left 95th and Nall. It's the only place in town to get a good selection of tennis shoes. They have a large selection of racquets too but I won't buy racquets here because we always get a great deal through our tennis club. All that being said, last week when I went into the store you would have thought that they had opened a store to string racquets in and simply display shoes. There were three employee types and not a word of welcome when we walked in. This type of customer service drives me nuts. If you don't want to help people, get out of retail. Owners, if your sales staff is nothing but tennis oriented introverts (or simply unfriendly people), you probably won't get the sales you are looking for, regardless of your location. I will go back because I'm such a sucker but if it's not friendly, I'll order the new brand of shoes I got from Zappos or Amazon.com.

Past reviews made me nervous to try out the Tennis Set for a racket restringing. I went in prepared for the worst but had a really great experience. Not knowing exactly the strings or tension I needed they offered the best options for me and I was pleased with how it came out. Both when I went in to drop of my racket and pick it up later, they were definitely busy so I waited while they finished helping another customer but they were friendly and even asked me if I was going to play later that day. I didn't spend too much time walking around the store, but there seems to be a huge selection of shoes, rackets, and tennis clothing. They also have overgrips, dampeners, and racket bags - everything you would find in an online tennis retailer but local! I ended up buying an overgrip that I was considering buying off Amazon, but their price was better. The racket restring was reasonably priced and they turned it around in 2 days. I'm not sure if that is typical turnaround, but was good enough for me. I have been impressed with the strings and tension. Overall great job!

The man who so called, helped was as arrogant as it gets. He seemed to be bothered he had to engage with customers asking dumb questions. I can't believe this place stays in business with this no-personality terrible sales person. I always try to support local businesses, but never to return here. We ended up renting potential racquet, but upon returning them, we ran across a delightful lady who helped us. She was very nice, but that guy has got to go. Other tennis friends shared similar stories about this salesman.

Used to enjoy coming to this place back when they had a massive store (with an indoor court!) with a great selection of products. Now that they are in this dinky shack, I only come in when in dire need of a certain product. The stringer guy is super rude and arrogant, and while the rest of the staff is nice, no one has any tennis knowledge. Prices are insane, demos are few and far between, and the vast assortment and styles are slowly shrinking. I advise anyone to shop online rather than go to this store.

I've been coming to the Tennis Set since high school/college in the late 70's, early 80's and it's the only place in town I would trust to string my rackets.

Won't be returning here until the stringer is fired. Guy is an absolute tool. The rest of the staff wa very nice and helpful, and the selection was decent.
