The Martin Event Space

Martin City nails the small town vibe, and the Martin Event Space backs it up. It feels like the kind of place for a small wedding reception outside the city. I've been here for a few events that are chef competitions, and it's the events have always been fun. The space itself is nice with parking all around, including some overflow in the nearby car wash. One time it was the middle of summer and the A/C was struggling in a big way, but largely because the event spilled outside so the doors were constantly coming open. It was easily 90 degrees in here. The past time was in mid-January, and it still felt like 90. Let's just say the furnace works better than the A/C.It's pretty basic with a little bar setup on one end, space for tables and to mill about, and then a little raised area on the opposite end which would be good for addressing a crowd. Not the most memorable or trendy event space, but a good overall spot if you're out in that end of town.

Cool venue inside and out. Was there for the Martin City Brewery fall release and all you can BBQ. Food was very good, brisket needed a little more time. Only other thing would be to move the indoor drink line so people coming in from the patio didn't have to fight through the line.

Nice event space in the south KC area. It's a former church, with the high vaulted ceilings & a pretty focal point in what was once the nave. It's a large open space that borders on cavernous, and gets rather loud. Also a nice patio area to the side & down a few steps, if the weather allows. We were there on a hot summer evening, and the air conditioning didn't keep up, so not the most comfortable... but the bar staff was awesome, serving beer from MC Brewery next door, which is also great. Would recommend checking them out for your next event.

If I could give Martin Event Space and their staff 100 stars I would. Our wedding day was special and stress free all thanks to the amazing coordinator, Kelly, and the staff who helped to pull everything together. Every aspect of our day was tailored to who we are as a couple and family so much so that Kelly even allowed and encouraged us to throw our 1 year old son his birthday party on our rehearsal night since he turned 1 the day before. They worked hard to listen to our vision, but also kindly offered suggestions and referrals for other vendors like cake and flowers (who were also amazing). We would not have had the perfect day we did anywhere else. I am so grateful for this venue and their coordinator. Kelly handled everything with a kind smile and good sense of humor. I could go on and one! Oh, and the space is GORGEOUS!

We went to my wife's company event there this Thursday and it was awesome. Great decor and space. Service was very friendly and never had an empty plate sit in front of us for very long before they swooped in and cleared it off. Although there was an open bar, mostly drank water and was never empty as they made rounds to fill water. I did not care for the food much, but that might have been just my taste buds that night, everyone around us liked the food. It's still a 5 star in my opinion. Can't wait to try out their pub down the street!

Your venue search is over! BOOK. THIS. PLACE. We booked The Martin for our wedding reception and we could not have been happier with our decision! We booked about a year in advance and worked with Brittaney to tour and reserve the space. Our main reasons for booking were because of their amazing craft beer selection and their beautiful rustic atmosphere, but other pros were an in-house kitchen, plenty of parking, and they were reasonably priced compared to similar venues in the downtown area. They also have a raised stage area which served perfectly as a large dance floor, as well as a pretty garden with a fire pit on the side of the venue. Our cook was also simply amazing. We had a hard time deciding which meals to go with because they were all delicious! In the middle of the planning process, we met with the new coordinator named Kelly and WOW. We cannot say enough good things about her!! From the moment we met, to the very end of our big day, she was so personable, helping everything go smoothly, answering questions with a smile, helping out our vendors, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents.. and especially US! I was very picky in how I wanted the space and decorations set up (even sending her a floor plan and expansive list of how I wanted it), and she made sure it was done to a T. She ensured our time at The Martin was nothing less than perfect and we cannot thank her enough. We even received such a nice card and a bomber of my favorite Martin City beer from her at the end that was just the cherry on top of it all. Completely above and beyond. Can I give them 10/5 stars? I cannot recommend The Martin enough!

I was interested in the space for my wedding venue and reached out to the venue more than 3 times over email and left multiple messages over the course of a month, with no return call or email. It was disappointing since their reviews seemed really positive and great, however, my experience was just the opposite. Luckily, I found a venue that returns calls and emails efficiently.
