Attended a musical event in the chapel today as part of the Fringe Fest. I have driven past The Loretto for decades and had never been inside and I certainly didn't expect this level of grandeur. I had assumed it was just a bunch of old offices or classrooms, never imagining a chapel with such grand arches, stained glass and marble stairs and landings. I hope that organizations can take advantage of this event space and host appropriate events. This chapel would make a great "listening room" for folk / classical concerts. If you receive a wedding invite that is being conducted here, by all means go!

We had our daughter's wedding here in December 2021. We worked with John for nearly a year and could not have been more thrilled with the experience. The venue provides a unique, historic KC location with a strong team of vendors to choose from. Some of the top reasons we recommend: 1. The beautiful on-site chapel that allows for a church setting and no need for a room flip. 2. Early access to venue for set-up (3 days before our event) and ability to return the following Monday for clean up. This allowed us to simply enjoy the entire day on Saturday.3. John and his staff were so fun to work with. We loved his humor, energy and knowledge.

The event space is gorgeous! Unfortunately I feel like the event coordinator John Koop took advantage of my sister and her groom. After signing a contract he demanded an additional two thousand dollars for his services but this venue wouldn't allow any other wedding coordinators to be used. It was blatantly obvious he was drinking during the wedding rehearsal which led to confusion and mishaps during the ceremony the following day. He commented to one of the wedding guests how cheap the wedding was because they had a cash bar. Overall the space is great but they need to accommodate for people who want to have a more professional wedding coordinator.

As you walk in you see these beautiful stair cases on each side made of marvel! this used to be a school for nuns many moons ago and was one of the first nun schools that allowed a person of color. Because of that many people donated to that location which in turn made it by far one of the most beautiful chapels around. The painted glass windows are beautiful during the day and even better looking from the outside in at night. Anyone that goes outside in the back will see that. Just amazing spot. John Koop was an amazing wedding planner! He really helped me prepare for the costs, got me in touch with the exact people I needed to get in touch with, and helped me the day of! This event space is so beautiful! And in such a fun part of the city. I had my wedding here in July of 2022 and am so glad. The dressing rooms for the women and men were so helpful. Having the ceremony on location was a definite plus as well. We just had to go downstairs. I went with the bigger room, it was just a beautiful space. Exactly what I was looking for. Take his suggestions, they worked out very well. And don't be afraid to email them or text them with questions. I had a ton and he helped with each one of them. Worth checking out!

Our daughter was married on 9/12/20 at the Loretto Events in KCMO. We shopped for venues in February before the Covid shutdown. The Loretto had just undergone a huge renovation and knocked our socks off. It had everything that we were looking for-an indoor chapel for the ceremony, a separate reception area (no turning rooms necessary) and it is close to hotels and things to do for our out of town guests. The venue actually has TWO separate reception areas to choose from, each with a different look. We chose the one that had a more traditional look with a separate bar area. It was fantastic. There also is a bridal suite and a groom's suite that we all got ready in. Our photographer took some great pictures in all the unique spots around the historical building. They even have a Day-of Coordinator. John Koop has been in the event coordinating business for years and was a wealth of knowledge and had many contacts for vendors for us to use. The day of the wedding was flawless and everything that I asked John and his staff to do was done. They were very professional and courteous and very helpful. John was very aware that it was our wedding and our vision and he did everything to make it happen. The best thing about John is that he makes this process fun and keeps it lighthearted.

A daughter of my best friend knew years ago she wanted to get married and have her reception at The Loretto. It is a gorgeous venue with a chapel, two reception rooms, brides room, grooms room and if available, a few rooms to rent for out-town-guests. John Koop, the events coordinator along with all of the staff at The Loretto made sure she had her dream wedding. Not only that but they also checked to make sure the guests and volunteers for that day were good. No other venue I have ever attended has done that. The venue is in a good location on 39th street with restaurants close by, ample parking and good security to assure your event goes as smooth as possible. I highly recommend The Loretto for not just weddings but any event you may have!!!! Thank you, John and the rest of the staff for showing us that some venues are more about the people than the profit!!!!!!

Event space was beautiful, however the event coordinator John Koop was very unprofessional and seemed agitated and aggressive toward the wedding party, bride and groom. I later found out he was drinking the whole time which made SO much sense of his behavior. The bride and groom were told they could NOT do very simple things like have the flowers behind the bride and groom, or have the bride and groom's family and guests on their respective sides because "it would take too long", or simply told "we're not doing that." I've never heard of, or experienced a worse wedding coordinator, and I have been to more weddings than I can count. The wedding turned out beautifully despite the shady wedding coordinator John Koop, but it was certainly no thanks to him.

Shepherd's Center KC held our holiday reception in the Chapel this December and the reaction was overwhelming! First, working with John Koop, Loretto's Director of Events, was amazing. We met to explore what was possible, and he made the magic happen from beginning to end! Our guests, board members, volunteers, civic leaders, staff...everyone was blown away with the space, ambiance, food, Christmas music and joy. It was GORGEOUS. Catered by Plaza Catering, served with elegance and warmth, the food was outstanding - and reasonable! The Loretto as an event space is just one of KC's gems! Really can't say enough from first meeting to execution - they treated us like royalty, and wouldn't even allow us to help clean up! As a small nonprofit, we were able to put on a first class event within our means! Can't say enough good things!!!
