Beers were very expensive and they did not have limes or lemons or oranges for my Blue Moon. I had a coupon for free popcorn which was weird because they do t have popcorn. Many other locations nearby to get your drinks from instead!

I had never been here before and was invitied by a friend to go see a play. Its open seating so go early to pick your seats. Its a small theatre with a big lobby. The lobby is dark but comfortable with worn couches (like a living room). Everyone was quite friendly. The play was ok, not my favorite but this is a review of the space and not the play. The seating for the theatre was good and comfortable. There wasnt a bad seat in the house. and the stage was a nice size and well lit. They served drinks and popcorn too.The bathrooms are upstairs and single use so during intermission there was quite a line which I could see being an issue at times. We didnt get to see a show in the "Living Room" I think it sounds interesting and I would like to try it. Its a quaint theatre and everyone working was super friendly. Its a pleasant surpirse to find new fun places in town.

We enjoyed seeing their Christmas production of Milking Christmas. The Actors did a good job. A couple of tips would include: parking is very tight around the theater so give yourself extra time to find a spot and walk. Also, their website says seating is general admission. That has been the case in the past. But we got there right when the doors opened and over 80% of the rows had signs on them that "entire row reserved" so be aware that groups may get special sections thereby limiting the rest of the seating.

Great little theater in downtown KC. It's a small place with limited seating so plan ahead. The seating is general admission so get there early for best pick. The general area as you walk in reminds you of your living room back in the day nice and cozy with a small concession stand. The play we went to see was Milking Christmas which is one of their most popular plays. It was well put together and performed by the staff. This little theater is worth a try and very economical for the experience you receive. If your in the mood for a play give this place a try you won't be disappointed.

This was a nice place. I've only been once so it's hard for me to know what is normal and what was set up specially for this event.I guess, my biggest recommendation would be to dust some of the furniture. I set on a vinyl/leather couch and got covered with dust that was on the back of the couch.

The living room is great little theater. It has a large lobby area with a small bar, and several couches. The lobby are is pretty dark, and has some old TVs with static on which give it a creepy/cool feel. The main level has a small theater (where we sat). It's pretty plain, with assorted chairs. In spite of the black box feel of the seating area this particular play had a great set.I understand the have a larger performance space upstairs, but we haven't seen it yet.The play was very good, and the performances were great. After the play the had a meet and greet with the cast and even laid out some snacks in the lobby. It's a hip artist-driven space, and I'll definitely be back.

After casually saying for months that I'd make it to The Living Room for a play, I finally did it. Tonight I saw Buckets of Blood. The play itself was OK-ish, but really...this is more of a review of the venue.Personally, I think The Living Room is a fantastic space! Having heard that it was named in honor of their multiple couches and easy chairs that are available for seating, I assumed it was going to be a seriously teeny-tiny, and thus bare-bones production. Well, it's not. There actually aren't all that many sofas available for sitting, and most people will be stuck in run-of-the-mill folding chairs (but cushioned, so comfy!) I'm not complaining, my point is simply they fit in a larger audience than I had anticipated. To go with it, the stage was also significantly larger than expected. Including the band, there were regularly almost a dozen people on stage, and it never felt cramped. I imagine they have the space and the flexibility to do a wide variety of shows.I do have a couple of complaints. First, the bathroom situation leaves something to be desired. During a 15 minute intermission, the line was frustratingly long. Additionally, I think it was pretty warm in the theater. I know it's unseasonably warm for April 1st, but it makes me question what a show in that space would be like in July. Having only seen one show I can't speak for the artistic direction of this particular theater company. But reading over the playbill and learning of who all is involved, I am going to venture a guess that The Living Room puts on some of the more daring and original productions in town. Small companies and low budgets certainly create many constraints, but they seem to make it easier to gamble. I look forward to seeing what shows come through The Living Room next!

This place is great. It is really like a living room. Couches and chairs to sit on raised seating platforms. The stage is small for intimate setting. The only problem with the seating is that the couches and chairs are different sizes and heights so if you are in a low chair with a higher chair in front of you it is hard to see. We were in the back row and could see fine. But the poor lady beside me on the corner could not see around the big dude in front of her in what we were calling the fire hazzard chair. The chair blocked the exit to the stairs so if there was a fire. We were going to push this guy over and run for the exit. Bad chair placement in this one case. They sold out last night so there were people sitting on the floor and standing in the aisles. It was great. This is a totally 60's hippie vibe place. They were awesome and let us bring food in from the brink and eat in the chairs and the couch the 7 of us took up. So it was really like having a live performance in our living room with take out from the Brick.I totally love this place and will be back.

I saw a play here recently on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. I'd never been before and didn't know what to expect. Walking in, we were greeted by a very friendly guy, Bradley, who it turns out is the house manager. He gave a concise, funny spiel explaining the lay of the land and the set up. This is funky, industrial reclaimed space. Nothing fancy, but comfy and nice. We climbed up two short flights of stairs to the theater on the third level. The mezzanine level contained the bathrooms. There are lots of black walls and vintage furniture, laid out in living room fashion in small seating groups on the third floor. There is also a full bar on this level that sells popcorn. The stage is bare bones, with basic chairs set on risers facing it. The playwright came out to address the audience, which made for a nice personal touch. The play was excellent and the cast very effective. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience and plan to go back for other shows.

I've been to The Living Room for two shows and had a great experience each time. The first show was held in the big upstairs area. It was kinda neat - go up a couple of creaky old staircases and then you're in a nice, intimate setting. They serve popcorn, PBR, and select other mixed drinks as well as water. It'd be a fun space for a reception. The second show was in what is considered the living room. It's more of a blackbox style theater, four rows of living room furniture arranged so that every seat has a good view of the action. Some of the seats were the glorious, sit-down-and-sink-in type but others were the mashed-down-and-feels-like-thin-cardboard type. It's open seating so get there early and try a few spots to see what you like.TL;DR - intimate venue with unique seating.
