The Keyhole Tavern

There is nothing NOT to love about this place. We have been going here for years. It is small, but mighty. The service is always great, the staff is kind, speedy, and the pours are good. The drink selection is fine, if you're looking for craft beers or anything fancy, this isn't your vibe. If you're looking for an awesome neighborhood hole in the wall, that's completely clean and nice, where the owners frequent and learn your name, this is your spot. It is membership only (I assume it still is) so you need your $10 membership card and you used to need to come in with someone who is already a member. I don't know if Covid changed this, and since they recognize us we haven't had to show our card in a while, but don't be shocked if they ask for one! Enjoy!!

This is a members only bar, however they didn't require a membership fee when I went there last year so we stopped by for a drink. My friend asked the bartender how the Chiefs were doing as we sat at the bar. She answered 'why would I know that. I don't have time for that!' The game was on the tv next to her, and she was drying a single glass, serving no drinks at the time. Very strange response, especially for a bartender who is typically well versed in small talk. Then we tried to order and she told us we'd each have to pay $10 for a membership fee. We said we weren't interested and we'd just go somewhere else. Then she raised our voice as we walked away and yelled, 'So you're never coming back here ever again? Ok, whatever!' The interaction was off putting. First you're rude to us, seemingly for coming in unaware of your firm membership policy. Then you're rude due to our lack of interest in becoming members. It's a bummer because it's in a great location. Had the bartender been polite and engaging, we'd probably have paid the fee and gone back at another time.

I used to work there many yeasts ago when 18 was the law to drink beer and beer was all they had. Restroom is coed. Yes only one restroom. Place is very small butt loads of fun.

This is the king of neighborhood hole-in-the-wall dive bars.It's small, very small, with an even smaller little patio filled with regular people just hanging out and having a good time. There's beer, some liquor, a couple of tvs in the corner and a juke box. And please bring cash because they don't accept cards.

My man cave has a maximum capacity of 49.What does a good man cave consist of? Well, at least one HDTV. Games like Silver Strike, Golden Tee, & Mega Touch. Decor consisting of old beer signs, swimsuit model calendars, and a picture of a white dog that looks possessed. A liquor selection with all the basics. Cheap beers on tap. A good bartender. A shitter. And a space small enough that someone, or something, will stop you from falling off your bar stool. Its my new home away from home.

My friends and I hung out at The Keyhole and had a great time! The atmosphere is fantastic and we had so much fun. That is until a gentleman (and his wife) who claimed to be the best friend of the owner walked in and threatened to fight a few in our group unprompted. We were finishing our drinks and singing to the great music while this gentleman continued to threaten us and continued (again unprompted) to let us know that he knew the owner of the establishment. The only reason I could give a single star is due to the bartender who was so nice!

My favorite dive bar in the world! Wait, it's more than that... It's my favorite place in the world! I would sleep here if they'd let me. Add it to your list of spots to check out if you're in KC.
