We decided tonhave our KC Silent Book Club here as this library is a good middle meeting point. My sis booked the room a month ago. When she got there, the front desk told her that whomever booked the room for her, only booked it for her and didn't book it as a book club. He said that someone had come asking about the book club and because he didn't see it, they got turned away. That was disheartening since again, this was booked a month ago. Also, because it wasn't booked right, the room was not setup properly. We booked the room again for next month and it's supposed to be correct. We sure hope so. Looking for a quiet place to read woth other readers? Join us at KC Silent Book Club!https://www.eventbrite.com/e/805792987517?aff=oddtdtcreator

Great beautiful quiet library best one in Kansas City, Missouri in my opinion! Met a friend here, then went to chipotle for lunch, then came back to study for a couple hours I loved the environment and experience! I'll return soon can't wait!

Local location, very helpful librarians, lots of books and other items to peruse. They have computers which are available to be used and printers as well as which are very helpful if you don't have those items at home.

This is an amazing public library. Generous natural light, helpful employees, and if you are here for an event - a really well done theatre. A few tips: the parking is kind of a hassle and there are a lot of reserved spots for other neighboring businesses like Chipotle and The Mixx. Be sure to pay attention to that. I'd also encourage you to come early in the day before those businesses heat up or be prepared to park a bit away and walk.

Great location, lots of free parking, and friendly staff!I've been here many times for all kinds of reasons, and i have always had a good experience. As a library should, it's pretty quiet and the perfect place to focus. It's right next to restaurants like Chipotle and The Mixx, so it's easy to grab a quick bite before or after. There's ample parking so even though it's in the plaza, I have always been able to find a spot for my car.I especially want to commend how helpful the staff is! From helping out with issues with my card, to notarizing paperwork, the librarians at the Plaza branch are nothing short of incredible. This is my favorite KCPL location and I'll definitely be back!

You know who digs this library? My little daughter. So naturally I'm a fan!Working remotely and living right around the corner from this library, it never quite popped out as a spot I'd want to go and work at, and honestly it still doesn't really. True to the all library cliches, this one is super quiet so you could really knock out some studying here, but for my lighthearted work, I'd opt for a coffee shop.Speaking of coffee, there is a little coffee bar in here (Archives) but no one was manning the bar when I was there so I wasn't able to try it out.But back to my kiddo.. There's an area full of children's books, computer games, couches to crawl around on, and big window views of Brush Creek and UMKC. This area is where it's at for us. She runs around here, finds the little toys sprinkled throughout, and picks up a handful of books to check out.I love technology, but I love books more. The world is pretty overstimulating sometimes, simple so it's really fun to watch my child find all the joy she needs in books here from time to time.

I love public libraries! Everything is free, and there are SO many different items you can check out. Call me old-fashioned and/or technology-challenged, but my favorite is getting books on CD to listen to in my (old) car. I never mind getting in the car and driving ANYWHERE when I have a good book to listen to! You can also "check out"/download books to whatever device you have. And they offer free classes, even yoga, and many others. Don't have a computer or other technology to search the web? Use the computers at the library anytime for free! Checkout "real" books, movies, and music and more...find albums you can't find or buy. Our KC, JoCo, and Mid-Continent public libraries are treasure troves of information, entertainment, and assistance to be accessed by even the technologically-challenged, or those who may never want to use and/or don't have today's budget-busting gadgets/devices!

Ah memories. When we lived in this part of town when my daughter was little this was our library and it's such a beautiful, modern building with a friendly staff and everything you could possibly want in a library- a huge selection of books and media, dozens of available computers, meeting rooms, rooms for homework, as well as lots of tables and chairs dotted all around for relaxing or studying. The absolute highlight is the children's section. It's the size of many entire libraries just by itself. The staff is amaaaaazing. They still recognize us when we come in and remember when we used to come to preschool storytime and events. They have so many events! Author signings, puppet shows, music & dance performances, movie viewings, etc.- sign up online to get an email about all they offer. There's a separate art space for kids where they often hold classes but when it's available, you can just go in and create your own art with their available supplies- so nice! The 'teen zone' is a cool area where my daughter & her friends like to study. It's away from the kid's area and has comfy bean bag chairs. Btw, no matter which side of the state line you live on, you can check books out from any library. So convenient! And there's a really nice small coffee shop in the main entrance. It's made for on-the-go but there are a few tables & chairs around it.

I am definitely a Library user. I read too much to buy all the books I read. I love being able to order on-line, get DVDs of fairly current movies, and even borrow e-books. If the KCMO library does have your selection, they will link you to an outlet that might. In the case of a book that was so new, they didn't have the book. yet. When they bought the book, they let me know. The one time when I could not find the book I borrowed, they could not have been more helpful. They extend my borrowing periods twice, they thoroughly searched not only the library I checked out from, but provided suggestions of where to search to the library that furnished the book. When it never showed up, the charge was reduced and if I ever find it, I can get a refund.
