If you're browsing Yelp for a good lunch spot, but suddenly decide to look for a small, private, liberal school for your children, you're in luck! This place is very special, and my daughter has thrived in the small, customized environment. Kids are encouraged be themselves, and the only cookie cutter I see is they're all different. Check this place out especially if your child marches to their own beat. Art, theater and music programs are standouts (shocking, I know, based on the first five sentences of this review). Here's a picture from a middle school science field trip, though.

This is a wonderful neighborhood private school in Waldo. The teachers and staff are engaging and great educators. My daughter enjoys the online program but is excited for their in person environment once they re-open. Public school wasn't for us and this was an amazing find. Highly recommend it. Small class size, comfortable class schedules and it is exciting to have a community focused education.

Kansas City Academy has completely and utterly changed my life. I came here as a socially awkward kid with nothing but tourettes syndrome and a massive anxiety disorder to my name, and grew to be an incredibly mature, hard working member of the community with no anxiety or tourettes left in my system at all. The students are the absolute most accepting people you can find in any school, and the teachers are even more so. This is the first time in half of my life I have ever had B's and A's in my classes. This is absolutely the most incredible school I have ever been too. If your'e child is suffering in a public school environment, I assure you to not spend another second there and immediately transfer them here without a second doubt. This school has helped me so much, and I feel like I can finally accomplish what I am meant to do.

No other school offers anything this close to the ideal for our daughter. The small student population, open atmosphere, and creative programming are all well-suited to make the most of her experience and needs. Above all it's the KCA philosophy we love - the mutual respect among students and faculty and the integrated educational approach provide a fertile environment to nurture her intellectual, social, and personal growth. Thus grounded, she is empowered to utilize her strengths with confidence and meet her challenges in an atmosphere of trust.

An outstanding school with a warm, supportive atmosphere. My son loves school for the first time. The small class size enables the teachers to take the students out into the world for hands-on learning. Everyone is so engaged and friendly. I recommend KCA to any parent who has a child who dislikes the traditional structured learning environment.

As a new student here at Kansas City Academy, I would say that this school is much better school than where I transferred from. Kansas City Academy is a safe learning environment. It is a different kind of way of learning. Here, we accept everybody in their own unique way. We accept differences. Being here allows you to be yourself and not feel awkward about being different because that's basically what we are. I really like how if you need help on something, you get individualized attention and during class periods, it doesn't feel like you're sitting in a lecture; it's almost like your teachers are having a one on one chat with you about the lesson. Only, you're in a class full of about 10 to 15 students. That's another thing that I like about this school. The class sizes are small. In my opinion, that gives me an opportunity of learning something rather than being worried about what other students are doing. The school helps provide the right education to prepare your student for college. Compared to my previous school, the work here is a bit of a challenge. Overall, I highly suggest to come to school here.
